Excellent sunflower seeds. I live on the top floor of an apartment building in a Seattle burb so I was worried my feeder wasn’t close enough to trees to attract the birdies. After a couple weeks a family of chickadees found the feeder and continued coming back every day. After a year I’ve attracted juncos, house finches, gold finches, and recently a pair of black-headed grosbeaks. Thank you for making clean seed that doesn’t make me feel guilty when I bird watch from my couch. 🐦‍⬛👌

Regarding Prairie Melody, the products I have ordered from their site have been top-notched. From the cracked corn to the Premium Black Oil Sunflower seeds. I had an order placed with another carrier prior to ordering their seeds, so I pretty much went through winter with the other product. Just recently, upon opening Prairie Melody and stocking up our container with it, I noticed a considerable difference. Though both were organic, the size of the seed and brightness of color were different. Prairie Melody's seeds were larger in size and brighter in color. The product was also very well packaged and did not tear or leak out in any way. I am extremely happy with the orders and see our chicks consume the seeds as well as the cracked corn. It's extremely important that what they consume is free of pesticides and unnecessary sprays. Only the best of the best for our chicks and quail 😊.

I love the black oil sunflower seeds! They come in an eco-friendly heavy paper bag, and I feel great knowing I'm supporting organic farmers. Best of all, their service is top notch!

I love purchasing my birdseed from Prairie Melody - #1 no pesticides on their seeds #2 - the staff that packs their seeds is really cool. The birds here in Oregon love the black oil seeds, and it's so much fun to watch my cat happily chirping away watching the birds outside our apartment window. It's also fun to watch the parents bring their begging teenage bird children to the seed piles on the porch to teach them where to find seeds. I will make a suggestion - for those that live in rainy/moist climates, do not get the largest bag of seed option because it's a paper bag, get the smaller size because it comes in a plastic bag (as much as that hurts the environmental part of me!).

Very kind and friendly folks. Yes, pesticide free seed costs more. But we must do our best for the birds that depend on us to get through the winter.

I've been getting Prairie Melody black sunflower seeds for years now. It's REALLY important to me to feed my chickens and wild birds, seeds that are free from chemicals of every sort. If you love birds please get these seeds...they are not only better for the birds but for the planet.

I really love the black oil sunflower seed. It attracts a great variety of woodpecker (red belly, red head, hairy, downy and flickers) as well as all the usual birds (cardinal, towhee, chickadee, wren, jays, finches). My feeders are full of happy birds! Thank you Prairie Melody!

Very high quality seed. I buy from other places and get various debris in addition to seed. This small company has a sincere feel to it. They seem to care about more than about just turning a profit. The shipping went way up but still was a deal because the competitors sell seed at such greed-driven prices! My birds and squirrels love this stuff!

Thank you to Prairie Melody Birdseed for providing a wild bird seed that meets the most important criteria for birdseed: it is safe for our birds. With the number of companies in the market selling black oil based sunflower seeds (the favorite of most birds) one would assume that finding seeds that are quality, and pesticide-free, would be an easy task. But it just isn't so. I did locate one (Just one!) additional source of an excellent pesticide-free seed, but Prairie Melody seeds are better priced, and the quality (nutritional value, cleanliness, absence of all neonicotinoids) is equal. Prairie Melody is a locally involved company with a far reaching vision. "One backyard at a time," for the safety and sustenance of our wonderful, diminishing wild birds. Our East Texas birds love Prairie Melody Birdseed, and so do all the northern visitors who somehow figured out what great meals were waiting for them at our feeders. I love Prairie Melody! As long as pesticide-free seed is offered, with shipping that doesn't cost more than the seed itself (so far it's been free!), I will be a regular customer. I can't believe how hard it is to find safe food for my backyard birdies; it's heartbreaking. So I am very grateful this company exists. My regular birds, the migratory birds, and the "furry birds" are grateful, too. = ) The seed is very clean without all the riffraff, the birds always prefer it to neighbors feeders ; ), and the company itself seems to do a lot of good and has heart (very rare these days!).

I went searching for black oil sunflower seeds that did't contain pesticides and I was delighted when I found Prairie Melody. The customer service is excellent and I so appreciate that the package that the seeds come in is made of recycled material. Also how often do you receive a personal thank you note from the distributor?? I have been telling everyone I know that feeds birds about this company... it is wonderful to know that I am purchasing from a company that is in high integrity.

I run a two-cam bird feeding station that is featured on YouTube and have had the opportunity to use Prairie Melody premium Black Oil Sunflower seed with great results.

Upon opening the product, I noted that this was the most clean looking seed that I have seen. No extra stems or extraneous matter mixed in with the seed. While this might not seem important to most people, it tells me that there is a lot of care and quality control apparent in the production of this product.

Prairie Melody's black oil sunflower seeds are by far the highest quality seed I have seen anywhere. I want to support growers who don't use pesticides and this company gives me that opportunity. The contents of a 40 pound bag was pure seed: no stalk or vegetative debris. The sorting here is high quality which means you get your money's worth: no junk. I compared sunflower seed suppliers recently and the other suppliers' products contained lots of non-seed byproducts. What an eye-opener. On top of this, the people who run Prairie Melody provide wonderful customer service with a human touch.

I stumbled upon Prairie Melody after struggling to find the “popular” brand we normally bought. I’d also become disappointed in the quality of the other popular seed brand that was more junk than seed. The birds clearly agreed and I noticed an immediate difference in both the number and variety of birds we were seeing at our feeders. They clearly recognize the quality of Prairie Melody and we go through it at least twice as fast as the cheap stuff. Shipping is always fast and I’ve made several repeat purchases - a great experience each time!

It is difficult to find pesticide free non-gmo bird seed so I was so very excited when I found Prairie Melody. I buy their sunflower & cracked corn blend. I supplement it with organic peanuts that I purchase in the bulk section of my local Co-Opportunity market. I crack/crush the peanuts before adding to the mix. My local birds love to come eat at my feeder. I'm refilling once a week. I am happy watching them eat knowing that they are eating healthy non toxic food. I also offer them filtered water in a separate waterer "feeder" and they are happy birds singing their beautiful songs.

We keep a small flock of chickens for their eggs for our family and feed organic feed. We wanted to add Black Oil Sunflower seeds to their menu but were worried about toxic chemicals. We were delighted to find Prairie Melody and their clean offerings. The quality is very good and we know that by using their products that we are doing right by the earth and all her inhabitants.
