I come walking here all the time, it’s very impressive that members of this community dedicate their time to preserving this wooded area. There are a few trails that all lead to one another. It’s mostly clean woods, and you can rent the picnic area for bbqs too.

I enjoy coming to this trail as the road is well-paved, has that refreshing smell of nature, you can hear the birds chirping beautifully, and the occasional encounter with deers crossing or just behind trees. Just an FYI though, as of today (06/13/19), the road on North Edgewood Avenue to 31st street is under construction (refer to uploaded picture), so the bike path leading to the north side of the trail is inaccessible from there.

I just discovered these parks and can't believe I've lived in the area this long without visiting them. It's a fabulous place to run, walk, or ride you bike.

Before you get to salt Creek Trail, you pass beautiful mansions, and once you get to the trail, they are nice walks with flowers along the way. Beautiful area!

The fall colors are in high contrast at this park. There's a 2 mile big loop as the main trail that brings you through stands of Oak and Maples that strike you with the yellow orange and red fall colors that everyone loves. There's open areas with picnic tables and other connecting trails that will guide you along the banks of the Salt creek.

I love that we have multiple parks in Chicagoland where you can enjoy nature, have social gathering, and exercise. Organized, clean, and safe. Always open on time. Long trails with picnic area. You will enjoy alone, with family or friends, or with your dog. I am very thankful for the great work that resulted in this beautiful escape to nature. Thank You!

World class paved bike trail...great any time of day. Can get very busy. Many dirt/foot paths you can explore. Grew up in the 60s near these preserves....they're still great!

Beautiful facilities in a natural setting can't go wrong for weekend walk. Many many hiking trails. Many miles of bike trails. Bathrooms are cleaned regularly. opportunitys for parking. The trails go close and cross salt creek. This preserve is also near a few other parks and forests preserves in the area allowing for other outdoor activities and recreation.

My first time riding the trails and I loved it. There was Wildlife all along the trails, the creek was very scenic, and the Greenery almost let you believe that you had escaped the city.

Beautiful and well-maintained trails. Was great birding while I was there, too -- lots of migratory songbirds!

Open daily dusk to dawn. Nice and well maintained bicycle path right next to Salt Creek. Could be busy on weekends with bicyclists and runners.

Salt Creek runs through several "woods". One is Bemis and another Brezina. As a kid I spent every spare moment in these woods, riding my Stingray along the hidden trails in 7 foot tall Ragweed forests. We had a tree platform and a wonderful rope swing across Salt Creek, too. So glad that they have actually improved the woods with dedicated trails and well-marked access points.

Nice place to go for a walk to see nature, be alone, contemplate.
Plentiful wildlife, deer, raccoons, possoms, muskrats, nutria, field mice and bears !
Frogs ( peepers) are especially vocal in the many wet areas they call home in the spring time.
Some of the trails could be groomed, raised and maintained better but most are passable if you don't mind getting a bit wet.
The forest itself is not self sustainable as Ive noticed alot of dead" old growth" trees.
It would be a good idea to install some drain tile to mitigate some of the standing water to natural low laying areas to increase the biodiversity and to prevent some of the devastation caused by the damage done to many of the magestic oaks, and other hardwood giants.
This is my observation of over 38yrs.of visiting this area as an informed observer.
There's a beautifull strand of bald cypress that are 80-100yrs+ growing along an old livestock pond that was established in the 1800s by digging small trenches by early settlers to this area. The purpose was two fold, one to drain area's that were to wet for cultivating, second was to pool this excess for live stock( cattle& bears) which could be utilized 9 months out of the year.
The cypress are over 80'feet with a girth of 3.5-5feet. In the fall they turn a beautifull orange and then looe their needles.
A pleasent place to spend an afternoon enjoying nature at its best.
Pick up your trash and leave it as you found it ! Respect wildlife, especially the bears !
