Tavern Steakhouse Libertyville

I love experiencing new things. The Tavern offers a cozy, upscale dining experience. I had the 8oz. USDA sirloin cooked medium rare with grilled asparagus. I paired my meal with a bloody mary, which was excellently prepared by Patrick. He was also my waiter. He was a great conversationalist and host.

Great atmosphere and unbeatable wine list. Steak was good, but not the best I've ever had. Definitely on the pricier side but the service, atmosphere, and food are all worth it. Perfect place for a special occasion!

If you’re looking for a fantastic meal, ambiance and service, this is it. The drinks are carefully made with exceptional presentation and all together makes for my absolute favorite steakhouse in the area. There isn’t a single bad thing on the menu.

Excellent food and staff! The staff was very friendly and informational. The food is worth the price. You would be leaving saying you could made it better for cheaper at home. Great experience and highly recommend.

The bartenders and servers are professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. They also have excellent wine and drink list. Additionally, the decor is exquisite.

When I first walked in with my family, had a feeling I was gonna love this place. First time dining here and had a wonderful experience.

Candlelit tables in a clean, eclectic, elegant & upscale venue with a fabulous bar atmosphere.

Daughter & I both went with the 8oz. Filet Mignon & 6oz. cold water lobster tail, wife went with the filet as well but with grilled shrimp and my 4 year old son ended up having plain angel hair spaghetti.

That's really the only downfall of the Tavern is that it's not really kid friendly but definitely isn't a reason not to come back or rate it anything less than 5 ⭐s. Kudos to our waitress Heather who did a phenomenal job tending to us.

This sophisticated steakhouse boasts a menu with some fine entree choices as well as apps, sides and desserts. Great cocktail & beer selection with an extensive wine list.

Opened for dinner only starting at 4:30pm everyday and closed on Sundays. If you enter from the front, good luck trying to find a parking spot on the street. Find a spot in the back but just be aware of the closest spots being 30-minute parking and obviously handicapped.

IMHO the Tavern Lounge & Steakhouse seems a bit underrated among other high end steakhouse competitors which there are a lot of in Chicago and the suburbs. Been to a few of them out there and I rank this place right up there among any I've given the top ratings to.

It did not disappoint! We took our teenage son out for his birthday and we were impressed with every aspect of the the meal from start to finish.

Salads, steaks, wine pairings, and dessert were all thoroughly enjoyable. Atmosphere and service was cozy, relaxed, warm and friendly. Not stuffy at all.

I was a bit disappointed that the Kyoto-based Sakura Dream tea I wanted wasn’t available, but the alternative option to end the meal (lava cake and espresso) satisfied.

Would definitely recommend and return!

We came for our son’s navy boot camp graduation celebration. He asked to bring three friends who didn’t have family coming, so we had four new sailors. When the staff learned what we were celebrating they gave us a private broom and comped the sailor’s meals!!! And the food was amazing! If I could give 6
Stars I would!

We've reserved a table here twice for two different dinner occasions service has always been incredible and the food was absolutely amazing.

I wish I remembered my servers name to give him some praise but he was absolutely amazing server one of the best we've had!

As others have noted, the prices are up there.
The servers were very friendly & accommodating.
I realize it's a "thing" with upscale restaurants, but I do wish each table had a bread basket. I enjoy fresh bread & don't care to ask for a slice at a time.
When we made our online reservation, I noted that we were celebrating a birthday. They did bring a complimentary creme brulee. Very nice touch.

My husband and I had dinner here last night for the first time and we absolutely love everything, great service, very professional, so classy, the hostess was very nice, server was on point with everything and the food was excellent, will definitely go back.

If you have a moment to celebrate or just want an excellent dinner, this is the place to go. I will be going back next time I'm in the area.

What a fantastic place to either have an excellent steak dinner or just a couple hand crafted cocktails. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the prices are reasonable for the amazing experience. Whether its muggy and miserable outside or the frozen tundra of Illinois this peaceful Tavern will have you smiling away any cares you thought you had in the world. If you are trying to impress someone special be sure to bring them here and even if it doesnt work out at least you can say you still had an amazing night at this top notch cocktail bar at the heart of Libertyville.

Words cannot begin to describe how impressed we are with the Tavern and its tremendous staff. We had an impromptu get together for 10 friends and contacted the Tavern at the very last minute in the hopes of maybe securing a few tables. Jeff from the Tavern was not only the absolute definition of professionalism, but he then worked a modern miracle and secured our group their private dining room for our get together.

We had the most amazing time ever and I have been to many many restaurants. Few have compared to the quality of food and the caliber of staff that the Tavern fielded that evening.

I have always been a fan of the Tavern and have eaten there many times. This time however, they truly exceeded every possible expectation and set a new standard for what quality of service and customer experience can be.

I will be returning here often and will be recommending the Tavern to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience. If I could give more stars than 5, I would not hesitate for even a moment to do so.

I’ve been a regular for about 25 years. I’ve taken many clients and friends here and no one, I mean not a single soul, was ever disappointed w food service or ambiance. Need I say more?

Last night 12/21/22 was no exception. There were three of us, it was like we were dining at home. That’s home comfortable and unrushed we were the entire evening.

Tavern has an expansive wine list and makes exceptional mixed drinks. All of their food is delicious and served warm and w panache. Their wait staff is exceptional and some have been there over 20 years. They are The Pros.

The service here is amazing. Super nice staff that is very attentive. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. I loved that they had a mocktail, and the food was amazing!

I've always walked by this place, but have never had any idea what was in there. The menu always looked really good on the outside, and the "Reservations Only" sign gave me the perspective that this place has got to be good.

So being our second date since our seven month old has been around, we picked this place over a trip to the city. Immediately we were greeted by an amazingly colorful ambiance with detail in every inch of the room.

The staff, mainly Patrick was incredibly friendly, welcoming and knowledgable about everything on the menu. They were also really good on timing, as meals came out promptly and spaced out evenly enough for us to enjoy each course.

The portion sizes were perfect, as they left you with enough room to move on to the next part of the meal. The steaks and seafoods were very tasty, and on par with the quality you used to only be able to find in the city.

They've got an excellent wine and liquor selection. Many selections of breads and appetizers. And again, an ambiance that lets you know that this is a special night.

We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back many many times to celebrate all sorts of birthdays, anniversaries and promotions. Really happy that this place is a short 15 minute drive away.

Lastly, can't understate how awesome Patrick is.
