Best kept secret! I had given up hope on finding good Chinese fare in the Lansing area, and was very impressed with Huapei. The service and food are just wonderful! We got our tea and rangoons pretty quickly, and the total wait for dinner was about 20-30 minutes. Not too long, and it's obvious that everything was freshly prepared. The sauces appear to be from scratch, and the chicken and shrimp had a light, crispy battered coating. The rice was perfect. The freshly sliced green onions on top of the dish were a nice touch. The portions are generous and prices pretty low, with most dinners at about $9 (and I took home left overs!). Our server was so sweet and attentive, and was able to recommend a dish to me when I asked questions. We can't wait to go back!!

I don’t know how about his place isn’t more popular. I’ve lived in or around Lansing for the past decade and no one has brought it up. The egg rolls are always fresh and the portions are good. Give this place a try, I know I was t disappointed.

Btw, I added the food to a plate at home. You get a lot more than the picture shows lol.

Wow very impressive Chinese/Korean dishes! We went here today and enjoy some of the best pan fried dumplings! For the entrees we ordered the twice-cooked pork and the korean-style beef. They were both so tasty and the flavor was on point! We will be returning real soon to try other dishes on the menu and of course the pan-fried dumplings again!

Very authentic Chinese food. They are open now after 2 months closing. Good food and reasonable price. My best is sweet and sour pork. 한국어 메뉴판도 있어요.

I have been eating at Huapei for almost 40 years, through two generations of owners. While the building is plain and lacking in decorations, the food is the best Chinese cuisine in the Lansing area. The current owners make people feel like family. I have yet to try the sizzling rice soup, which I hear is very popular, but I can never turn down their wonderful hot and sour soup. The potstickers are so very good, and the Huapei chicken is always hot and flavorful. Keep in mind that it is a small family run place without a large staff. The food is always worth the wait.

Seriously the BEST restaurant I've been to in Lansing. Don't let the outside fool you, the food coming out if the kitchen is so yummy. I recommend the sizzling Rice soup.

The best East Asian fusion restaurant in town! The food is unbelievably amazing. We ordered several different Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese dishes, and they all came in generous portions and all immediately satisfied our picky taste buds. Enjoying the very authentic taste, we felt as if we were magically transported back to Asia.

This gem on the south-side of Lansing is worth the trip. Go in person; the owner is usually on-site, but all of the staff provides stellar recommendations. I love the chicken and broccoli. All of their lunch specials are fresh, tasty, and a bargain! Just go. SO. WORTH.IT!

The Huapei chicken, crab rangoons, family tofu, and sizzling rice are some of my favorite dishes here. Service is great. Owners are lovely. Ambiance is basic, but the food speaks for itself! A must try. This is my favorite restaurant in Lansing, MI.

I ordered from Huapei for the first time today. I had Mongolian Beef and it was superb. Packed with lots of flavor but with a slight kick to it. I also appreciated the fact that it was not loaded grease like most Chinese restaurants. It literally is a whole in the wall. I didn’t know it was there till I came across it on a Google search. The menu is limited compared to most places but it has a nice variety. No combination plates. I can’t wait to go back and try something new.

Don't judge a book by its cover. The outside may not look like much (they're slowly remodeling), but the FOOD is phenomenal! All of it is made fresh, and it’s worth the wait. If you wondered where the Asian students attending the local universities come to eat, wonder no more. Here they find authentic, home style cooking. If vegan, try the vegetarian hot and sour soup (no egg) with family style tofu.

This was our first time to Troppos. It was 630 on a Monday. The waiter was attentive, the food was very good. We were surprised as to how quickly the food came to our table for an upscale restaurant. You have to try their version of strawberry shortcake....wow!

Let me explain why this restaurant is amazing. The owners are Japanese, Korean, and Chinese, so the food is truly and actually East Asian fusion cuisine. They have menus in Korean and Chinese which have many more items that are not on the English language menu. If you’re familiar with the Sushi Udon restaurant near MSU’s campus, the owners of that restaurant and this one are relatives. They make very good Korean-Chinese fusion cuisine. The interior of this restaurant is sparkly decorated but the food is authentic and delicious. Check it out.

I’ve been coming since I was little and it’s still some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. If I could I would give it 10 out of 5 stars. Most people don’t order the correct things here so I recommend getting huapei chicken, boiled dumplings and crab ragoons. Their sweet and sour chicken is amazing!!! Service is also always amazing!!
