Double JJ Resort

This is the go-to lower peninsula getaway spot. My family and I stayed here for a couple of days during spring break and it’s amazing! The arcade was decent and the bull rides were great. (I got to Adv. 5) The indoor waterpark had 4 amazing slides, 1 had a toilet bowl, and there were no lines. The staff were friendly and nice. If you’re thinking of coming here, it is a great option.

I had a lot of fun at the water park and trail riding. Staff at the equestrian area was really helpful. Service was great and they accommodated an issue with my room. Best of all, I lost my ID & wallet while riding a horse and they mailed it to me once it was found!

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE! Everyone was not only helpful, but knowledgeable, which is unique for any staff of a service industry. The slides were so much fun and the arcade pulls at nostalgia. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. My room has a hot tub INSIDE THE BEDROOM. The food at Sundance is fantastic. You're running out of reasons not to pay this place a visit. Just saying.

My wife and I just spent another amazing weekend at Double JJ and couldn't have had a better time, so much to do! I would highly recommend the Calamity Jane unit, specifically Thoroughbred Suite #114/112 to anyone. clean, well equipped, plenty of space and close to everything. and a nice bonus, there's a full kitchen and a jacuzzi in the master bedroom! We always get great service, this time, we had awesome experiences with Christina, Amy, April & Miss Joy in the arcade. really, everyone we encountered were awesome! You can really see how passionate they all are to help us create a fun experience. I am a business owner myself and trust me, Double JJ Resort is lucky to have this team! Kudos to ownership and management too! It's great to see all of the improvements and upgrades they are doing, the new signs and the new wood floor at the Sundance Grill look fantastic! and don't get me started on that Cajun Chicken Tortellini, OMG!! We are excited and already planning our next visit. Keep up the great work Double JJ Resort! As always, 5 Stars plus from me and my family.

We went for a horseback ride and it was so much fun! Went as a pair and had a ride with four others. We walked down some fun trails and had great commentary with our wranglers Isabel and Amanda.
I rode Sheba, which is a retired barrel horse. Rachel made sure I was comfortable on her before riding off. My Co-rider got Cofax who is a curly gelding. Very fun would 100% ride with this crew again.

I am sure the beauty was lost with no Snow and no leaves on the trees. But I must say this is a hidden jewel on the West side of the state.

Water Park: was a bit on the smaller side for older kids, but our Middle schoolers had a great time. It was clean and plenty of things to do, including a large Arcade.

Room was great, clean and no one try to get in after we were bed.

Absolutely enjoyed my time! I had a two-room suite that was great. I would suggest if you're staying for a while to get the $300 Visa pack because it does come with one day swimming pass and mini golf for six people as well as video coins. The $300 gift card is good anywhere on the resort.

Although I’ve never had a bad experience at Double JJ my last horseback ride was one of the best. From walking, trotting and even cantering I had so much fun.
Amanda and Natalie are great wranglers and the rest of the crew at the barn were so friendly. They quickly figure out your ability and craft your ride accordingly. One of my best rides all year, thank you

I had a really good time there! I went for my birthday trip and on the trail ride they sang happy birthday to me! I had a lot of fun in the indoor water park and the arcade it was a lot of fun! We try to go every year during the winter and we always have a great time. The trail ride was a lot of fun Rachel, Mike, and Jen were amazing and will definitely do again! The food was amazing just everything in general was amazing!

Our visit here was amazing! Our kids kept asking when we will return again. Our thoroughbred suite was more than perfect. Our stay was everything we could have asked for and more. The indoor waterpark was top notch and so much fun for everyone. Every worker there was very kind and helpful the entire time. The Sundance Grill and Bar was beautiful and had excellent service and food. We are already planning our next stay and cannot wait to go again! Perfect resort for couples or families.

I first of all want to thank the folks at the riding stables - Mike, Rachel, Jen and Natalie. You made our trail ride for our anniversary simply unforgettable. We cannot wait to come back and do it again.

A special shout out to Autumn at the hotel for taking such good care of us when we were buying snacks and asking a million random questions.

We stayed in a private cabin in the back 40 that was absolutely perfect. It was cold outside, but not inside of the spacious cabin.

It was affordable, memorable, and made for an absolutely perfect weekend. We will be back!!!!!

We had a lovely time here at Double JJ resort, the service was excellent and the room and activities were worth coming again. Had an amazing time and can't wait to come again!!!!

We stayed here so we could be nearby the Michigan shoreline ride at silver lake sand dunes. Mike was so friendly and helpful for boarding our horses! He’s passionate about what he does and you can tell-give this man a raise.

We stayed in a cabin in the back 40 which was nice and not far from the boarding barn. We rode through Sherwood Forrest between our visits to the sand dunes. Thanks Mike for a great experience!

We had a great time staying at the double j ranch. We used the water park, glow mini golf, bull riding, Arcade with or children and grand children. We had a blast. Ended the day with an hour ride at the equestrian stables. The staff there was amazing. It was my husband and I. They had a total of 14 people going on the trail ride and they took there time with us. It was an amazing time.

We spent the weekend at the Double JJ Suites. We went horseback riding and it was so much fun. Our wranglers were Rachel. Jen and Mike. They were funny and really nice. I enjoyed that it felt you had a little more freedom on the horse. The horses did not have to be single file line like other places I have gone to. I would definitely come back.

*Indoor water park only* Okay, so here’s my experience with my family. Two adults. Two children 8&10.

First, I should say they have 4 big water slides. 3 you ride with tubes and one by yourself. They’re all very fun, even for adults. We rode them many times. None of the pools are very deep and it’s great for tiny kids too. We had pizza from the restaurant upstairs and it was very good. We did notice it’s an older place and yeah, they could probably do some updating, but we went there for the kids to have a blast and they did. In total, we were there for 7 hours. Didn’t have issues with the staff, but they did mention they were short staffed so one slide was only open from 3-6 but that didn’t change my experience. I had a ton of fun with my family. For $25 a ticket, I wasn’t expecting an out of this world experience. Maybe that’s just me. Hopefully, this helps someone decide if it’s worth it.

My husband and I went on a trail ride today. Rachel and Evelyn were our guides. It was my husband's first time on a horse ( just turned 60 last weekend) They were great about making sure he was comfortable. Also all the horses were extremely well behaved. Rachel has a very friendly personality- easy to ask questions if you have a concern.

We had a great time with an off-season trip. We booked the $199 per night waterpark package which included the room (with a late checkout),passes to the waterpark, breakfast, mini-golf, a hay ride, a craft, etc.

Staff was uniformly polite and helpful. The waitstaff was especially great at breakfast. Check-in was a breeze and they were helpful answering questions.

The facilities and the room were clean and well kept. Breakfast was a fairly typical hotel continental breakfast (eggs, toast, sausage patties, cereal, waffles, etc.) but they kept the food hot and there was plenty of it. The dining room is a lovely room and there was plenty of seating.

The kids had a great time at the waterpark, which was well-patrolled with lifeguards. (The lifeguards were vigilant and made sure kids weren't running or getting out of hand.). Everything in the waterpark was clean and well-maintained. There was plenty of seating and there were plenty of towels. The water was a good temperature and not over-chlorinated. The layout of the waterpark was also nice, in that it was easy to keep track of the kids and they didn't get bored even after spending 15 hours there over the weekend.

Overall, very high marks. This was our first time, and we'll likely be back.

That's the good. A few items to nitpick/areas to improve upon:
--The "hay ride" was a tractor pulling a wagon through the cabin area. It was fairly short and not much to see. It was included in the package and regularly costs $10. I would skip it in the future or re-route it to some of the prettier areas of the property (horse stables, lakeside, etc.)
--The waterpark package had us staying in the Lofts, which are separate from the main building. Given the distance, the wifi from the main building did not reach our room so we could not use our Roku/streaming devices or surf the net other than on cell phone data.
--The arcade had a good number of games that were broken (maybe 1/3). Some weren't marked as being out of order and we lost a few tokens finding out.

The campground is immaculate and my horse received excellent care at their stables. The people complaining about the wifi - it works fine, I had no problem getting a signal even though I was back in the campground. I'll definitely come back.

I am so impressed that I can’t wait until we get home to review this place. I wouldn’t even think twice about the poor reviews, which I was so nervous about prior to. Establishments are having staffing issues everywhere I think consumers need to be a little more gracious, even if the staff isn’t doing their job at least the owners are doing their best to try to staff the place. We had an amazing time at the water park, no complaints at ALL! It is perfect in every way and SO MUCH FUN!! We will totally make this our destination every year. The cabin is quaint and adorable, very clean, extra sheets and blankets, perfect experience for our 7 year old and my husband and I who love being outdoors. The cabins are in groups about 10 each around a circle, with fire pits in the middle. We can’t wait to come back and enjoy a longer stay, in the summer when the outdoors are a bit more open including the town and outdoor water park. The fact they offer so many things to do here is amazing. You have to experience it yourself. If you like to drink, their bar is right upstairs from the indoor water park which we felt was a nice touch during our little get away.
