Main Street Restaurant

A nice, charming little restaurant right beside the Washington Mall. My wife and I came in for lunch, and we both had a grilled cheese, fries and coffee. We were there on a casino bus tour and if we had more time, would have ordered something bigger. Everything was great, and we'll definitely be back next year.

We stopped with family we were visiting and had a wonderful breakfast. Food came fast and it was delicious. Very clean and modern inside, outside reminded me of the "good old days".

The food and service were outstanding. Free coffee is always good. Our waitress(forgot her name)was right there with a smile and to fill our cups. She answered questions about Detroit Lakes that we asked because we hadn't been there in a long time. We recommend Main street Restaurand very highly

First discovered this place in 2012 while I was in town for WeFest. The prices are fair, the portions are massive, the food is fantastic, and the people are even better. My wife and I are in DL once a year for three days, we stop in at least twice, and the staff still remembers us. Granted, I proposed to her here in 2014...but it feels like visiting friends every time we go back!

This is a nice little restaurant. I had the country fried steak with hash browns and it was delicious. This place only takes cash and checks so make sure to have a couple dollars on you. But overall I definitely recommend coming here and enjoying the best breakfast in Detroit lakes.

I loved this place. We stopped in to eat a quick breakfast at 10:30am on about their busiest Sunday of the year and the service was still great. We were lucky to get the only open table. Very busy. Because of reviews I had read, they are basically cash only. So bring cash.

The hash browns are not raw. They are crisp in some places, hearty in others, and are quite hot all the way through. And they are massive. LOTS of hashbrowns. My kids always eat everything, and more, and here at Main Street is the first place I can remember where they both loved what they got and couldn't finish their food.

I got the eggs Benedict. It was good. The hollandaise was a little weak, but still tasted great. They brought extra to put on my hash browns when I asked and I was in heaven. The pancakes have a really unique, good taste to them, and are the size of a plate. My wife didn't even eat half. The gravy for the biscuits and gravy was tremendous I thought.

Lastly, if you order a meal, a slice of pie is only 99cents. The lemon meringue I got was wonderful.

The next time I'm in DL, I'm eating at Main Street again. Great food, great service. Fast. What more could I possibly want?

The food is fantastic, and if you leave hungry there is something wrong. The service is second to none. I just love going there for breakfast. It's never disappointing.

Super friendly, very helpful, and delicious food!! Some highly restricted diets I was travelling with, and they were so accommodating!! Became part of the family when we said grace.

If you are looking for diner food in the Detroit Lakes area, this is the place I would go every single time. Good value, daily specials, some senior or half portions available. The interior is dated, that does not impact the food quality, I highly recommend this place.

Excellent service and great selections, very good burger and coffee and Sour cream and Raisin pie (Yummy), also has Keto/low carb/gluten free menu items that were tasty and 'hit the spot'

Had a great breakfast! Very generous portions. Left with a piece of Rhubarb Pie.

Looks amazing with the updates. Food was delicious but my mom was disappointed with her Reuben (thousand island was served on the side instead of already on) but that's more of a preference thing. A little slow service but we also came half an hour before close so I'm sure they were wearing out from the busy day!

All in all, still an amazing, tasty, and friendly place!

Best breakfast in town. Nicest waitresses. Good location & food portions. The carpet, tables and benches/chairs were updated recently & it looks great.

The atmosphere is old school which is great! The ham and cheese omelette is just what you’d expect! The hash brown portion was large and very tasty, not like some of the hash browns you get with that awful preservative taste on them. The coffee was excellent not over the top strong and not so weak you can see the bottom of the cup. Excellent service, waitress was on top of everything at all times! Al in all a five star experience!

Delicious food everytime I have been here! The best omelets in town! The pancakes are huge and very tasty! One of my favorite breakfast spots, but they have good lunch too!

Step through the door and it’s 1968 all over again. Tough but kind small town waitresses, plus good solid old fashioned American diner food (and huge portions). Caveat: splitting not allowed on some dishes, though ordering a small extra side skirts that rule. (We wanted to split the huge country steak breakfast with eggs, but after telling us we could not share, the waitress told us with a wink to order another egg or two on the side [$1.69 ea] or whatever and that would qualify.). Also: cash and check only, no plastic! Def going back again. Great time machine experience.
