Gene's Foods

As an out of town visitor who goes camping in the region annually, I consistently have stopped here for final necessities. The selection is good and the food is fresh. I tend to cook moderately complex stuff over a campfire, so having a resource with varieties like this place does help me a lot. I also enjoy the friendly service.
Anyone hiking/camping from Cascade up to Judge Magney can appreciate having Gene's IGA to depend on.

Very nice store. We were on way back from Canada and stopped and they had some pop I can't get in my hometown. So I had to buy some of course

Great store and the only place we shop when in town. Store is clean and staff is always friendly and very helpful. Great selection and prices are very competitive, we will always spend our money at Gene's Foods and love this store. Must try the Porketta roast, delicious!

I had fun in there despite my stroke damage i managed to walk thru store all by myself. Good to see old faces again soo much yummy fresh fruits.. and reall flowers too. First time in 2 yrs i been in a store since pandemic started.

Very good small town grocery - expect a little slimmer selection, particularly in produce, but that's the reality of a store in a smaller town. Otherwise well stocked with a surprising variety, clean, fast efficient check out process.

Traveled from NJ and this is the closest market to Grand Portage. We googled markets in the way and we ended up going to Johnson's first yesterday and wished we had stopped at Gene's first. Very nice staff, great selection, and a warm and cozy family store. Johnson's was very dark and cold and we felt unwelcome.

Been buying groceries at Gene's for years. Great selection, great prices and the service is top notch. Even when they know I'm a tourist they treat me well. It's the grocery story to use.

Love this lil store! It has everything I need usually when I'm in Grand Marais and the prices are okay considering it's a tourist town! The staff it polite and helpful, the selection is good, and they keep the place neat and tidy!

Great local grocery store - lots of light, wide aisles, very clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Wonderful in-house deli and excellent assortment of baked goods.

Clean, well-stocked grocery store that provides both for locals and for tourists. Uses quite a few foreign students as workers in the summer who are well-trained and do a good job.

Great supermarket with lots of items. Prices are very fair and the quality of the items is good and fresh. I always stop here when I'm in town.

IGA affiliate...nice small town market...live bakery, deli, butcher departments...decent product selections...prices a little high, but not surprising given the limited supply location...friendly, helpful staff...ample parking...good location...been in business for decades...acceptable business hours.

Much more inventory than other smaller grocery stores along 61.

It's a small town grocery store; don't always have want I want ( quality is limited) but always have what I need.Frindly and Helpfull.
