Nice state park, campsites spaced pretty well. There is a bit of variation on size, so something to watch for.
Excellent hiking. Great scenery.

Great state park with nice trails! We hiked the hiking club trail. It was a challenge to the top but well worth it. The falls were about 3/4 mile from the parking area so nice little stop for that.

An amazing State Park. You will have to pay for parking. You can pay ahead of time or pay when you get there. Parking is VERY limited. So, expect a packed lot during peak hours/seasons. Still, very well worth coming here.

The trails are not paved but VERY well maintained. Make sure you have a map In case you decide to hike around. The map is extremely useful. Or, use the gps on your phone to pinpoint where your exact location is. The waterfalls are very nice. There are no guardrails at certain parts so be VERY careful. The only rest rooms are at the campground, where the campground parking is located. Park is dog friendly but we never saw any that were unleashed, for obvious reasons.

Overall, a very nice state park. Trails are easy for someone for. If someone has trouble walking, make sure to take breaks, it's not too hard doing the smaller trails. But if you are doing a longer hike, be prepped. Would highly recommend coming here. Pictures does not give this park justice. Definitely check it out yourself.

We arrived in the morning for the hiking club hike. We stopped in the park office, where they had a nice selection. The parking for the hike is a bit tight and we assisted someone who was "stuck" and needed some assistance backing out.

The hike to the falls is fairly short, and we continued to the mountain view. I'm glad I was prepared to wear my 3 year old, as it would have been difficult for her to keep up. As we came off the mountain, the hiking club hike was not well labeled due to a fallen tree so we continued on the SHT in error and had to backtrack, adding a half mile or so to our total hike. That portion of the hiking club trail was clearly well traveled, but not as well maintained. There were many downed trees which the kids loved climbing over but they were a bit tired by then.

After the hike we went over to the picnic side of the park and enjoyed a picnic lunch on Lake Superior, which was amazing!

This hike is somehow overlooked on most you tube videos, but it is our favorite hike. You can park at hyw marker 100 and enter that way. Beautiful falls!!

This is part of my annual North Shore retreat and for good reason. It never fails to make me catch my breath and stay awhile to just stare in awe at the splendor that MN has to offer. Would highly recommend if you're traveling along the North Shore and have limited time for the State Parks.

As with all of the MN State Parks along the North Shore, this one is outstanding. Doesn't take long to find a waterfall. The Lookout Mountain hike is a good one and you're rewarded with spectacular views from the top.

We didn't get to spend much time here but it's definitely a beautiful park and worth a visit any time of the year

One of the best Minnesota State Parks! The campsite is beautiful and well kept (new bathrooms/showers!) and just a stones throw from the lake. There are trails right from the campground to the main trails. I would definitely recommend the main Lookout Mountain Loop (SHT) hike. Not too strenuous but a great view at the summit (if it's not too foggy!). I would recommend this park to anyone!

We loved our hike up to the falls here. Something about hiking along flowing water always has me so happy and energized. This was a nice easy hike. Was not crowded at all and was very scenic the whole way. I would love to explore this area more in the future.

We stayed at Cascade River Lodge, hiked right from there into the state park. Didn't Lookout loop first. Nice to get the harderpart down first. Beautiful views at the stop. Seen a deer drinking in the river. The falls was breathtaking!

Stopped here just to stretch our legs and found out we made a lucky choice. The trail to the falls was a lot of fun and the falls themselves were impressive. There was no ranger on duty here so we had to check ourselves in. The daily use fee is $7, so be sure to bring some dollars or a check. The daily fee lets you into all of the MN state parks, and there are quite a few between the border and Duluth.

This place is magnificent as well as magical. Came here at the cascade lodge and right behind the cabins is a handful of miles of trails to hike and plus the cascade falls to check out. I strongly recommend the lodges and especially the trails and sights. Bring some water, and good boots. A good camera and some company. I came her with the lady and puppy and it was something I wont forget. Lutson is right down the street. We can see lake superior right outside the cabin window. Come check it out before it gets booked out. Two thumbs up.

We always park at the Cascade River parking right off 61, not the SP parking. Medium to difficult hike because it has a lot of stairs and is all uphill. Payoff is worth it though, lots of waterfall and river views. You can also go down to the end of the river where it flows into Lake Superior. We always skip rocks there!

This park is right off of MN-61, AKA the North Shore Scenic Drive. The parking is either right off the road or into the park a little bit. This park is very nice if you are passing between Lutsen and Grand Marais. The main attraction is not too far from the street and is a pit stop. There is also a overlook across the street from the park that gives excellent views of Lake Superior.

I've camped here a few times and love the spot. It feels less developed than the other parks around there, but there is a lot to see. The Cascades are a quick hike from the campground to some very remote-looking and beautiful terrain. The bathrooms and showers are well kept up too when open during summer season.

There is an old log CCC -era building that kicks off the hiking trail that's pretty neat and appears open year round as well.

As of Fall 2022, Verizon cell coverage within the campground is real spotty and hard to connect to any calls or data.

Beautiful state park. We did the mountain overlook trail and then some side trails on our way back. My dog and little one played in the river to cool down. I will definitely visit again.

Gorgeous. I visited the first week of October and the trees were just about to peak. We did the river loop hike and it rivaled hikes I've done in Colorado. You feel like you're in another world. The rooted pine forest was my favorite despite my love for moss and Fern forests, which there is also a lot of. I cant comment on the camping facilities, but everyone we talked to raved about them (minus the showers being closed that year)

Park right on state highway sixty one and go on the west side of the river, and about two hundred feet up some steps a beautiful waterfall.

This was one of my favorite state parks on North Shore, not as busy with more challenging trails but worth it. The falls and cascades are beautiful and the hike to Lookout Mountain is totally worth it.
