Old Dock House & Marina

We happened upon this lovely hidden gem after seeing a ferry sign off a highway. We crossed on the ferry and this quaint place was open. We stopped and had a beautiful afternoon lunching and having a beer while overlooking Lake Champlain, eating in New York, and seeing Vermont over the Lake. It was an experience I will remember forever. Food was great, waitress was great and the atmosphere exceptional. If we lived close, we would visit weekly.

We ate here last night with our dog and had an exceptional time. The views were amazing and the service was excellent. Every one was incredibly nice and friendly and very accommodating for dogs. The food and drinks were good. It was exactly what we were looking for to relax and enjoy the beauty of the lake.

My fiance and I went here about 1.5 years ago and, to this day, we still rave about our experience here. Food was great, staff was so pleasant, funny, and good natured. The view was amazing at sunset and overall our experience was unforgettable!!

We only had 30 min while awaiting the ferry, so we opted for a couple drinks at The Old Dock. Perfect. Wish we'd had time for dinner as the menu looked quite good. I had a tap beer and my wife a tangerine Martini. We got some of their parmesan fries. Sat on the deck overlooking the lake.

Can't beat the location on a gorgeous summer day or evening! We kept it simple, and only got club sandwiches, but they were delicious. And they accommodated our gluten-free needs, as well.

3 years later, and they’re still doing it! Not an easy task in a mid September labor market, but we felt well cared for and our server really dialed in to one of our party’s g-f needs. Yummy entrees were ratatouille, and a beet salad with shrimp. Desserts were a blonde brownie a la mode, and a flour-less chocolate cake.

So darn lucky to have this lakeside dining available.

One of the best waterfront restaurants I've ever dined at. Delicious food, great cocktails and views that cannot be beat! Highly recommend.

Old family and friends reunion (7 years later) had an incredible dinner tonight .This was accomplished by a very special young server, Emily.
She and the staff worked endlessly to have our drinks, and food delivered quickly. Most of all she was kind, caring and a joy to get to know.

Ambiance was wonderful. I loved looking at the lake while eating. New England clam chowder was nothing like i expected but was very good, more like a stew or gumbo and not really white. Fish and chips exactly what I wanted and expected. I asked for homemade potato chips instead of fries. Yummy! Prices average, staff attentive and pleasant but not intrusive.

Perfect experience. Regardless of the staffing challenges, these ladies worked effortlessly to provide service exceeding our expectations. It was super hot this day but all endured to ensure our time was well spent. Kudos to the young lady who served us (FT school teacher) for her conversation and travel advice.

Came on a Sunday afternoon from the Essex ferry and the weather was great. I had the soup and salad.

Hit or miss. Kinda expect it being summer only. Still, a great place to stop for a drink or burger when you're on the boat. Update 2022, went Saturday labor day weekend… closed. Hard to understand, Indian bay restaurant was packed and always awesome food and staff.

Update 2023 summer. Excellent service and food. Congrats. Been there 3 times this summer- empty and crowded, and all perfect. Congrats

Beautiful setting, really nice chef and wait staff. Food was excellent too!

Came on a busy Friday summer night and were seated quickly. Waitress was friendly and efficient. Food was absolutely delicious (especially their Parmesan fries!). Beautiful view and incredibly clean. Overall, great service and wonderful experience.

A mini-sandbox, 3 mini-golf holes and kid books to borrow help kids pass the waiting time. Kid meals were also generously sized and loved my our group! Adults loved their food and the view too

We love the Old Dock in Essex. But we were disappointed yesterday when they would not seat us in the half empty bar or at one of the 3 empty booths. I explained to the hostess that we only wanted a couple of beers, still, no go.

So far so good, pulled my boat to a slip and spending the night with wife and 2 kids. No charge. Dinner was great and views were excellent.
Stopped at old dock again on aug20. Very nice dinner and enjoy having a slip and destination for our boat trip.

A favorite spot to eat/have cocktails outside in the summer. Beautiful spot on the lake. Gets busy and reservations are needed

Great Braised beef on a fabulous apple raisin coleslaw, beautiful outdoor seating, well covid spaced with warm and accommodating staff. A perfect combination with the ferry ride. Highly recommend that you do both.

We live in Michigan and came to Vermont to visit friends and eat at Old Dock (which we heard great reviews for) and thought our food was fabulous. Also, we had great service and not to mention, a super good view of Lake Champlain! Definitely coming again.
