Alpha Pizza & Sub Shop

Been here twice now, probably both the best pizza (much better than the greasy flop-fest slices at Nicolosi’s) and subs (their Italian sausage & peppers is one of the best I’ve ever had) in the Phillipsburg area. Great place. Great Owner. And definitely not the last time I’ll be coming here.

Just started going out again because of COVID and stopped for dinner.
The food was great as it's always been!! Nice choice of pizza, subs, salads, burgers, steak sandwiches, pasta and more!
Super clean place!
The waitress was super friendly and making sure we had everything we needed. While we were there they had a steady stream of people picking up their takeout orders. Owner greeted everyone with a nice conversation...nice small town atmosphere!

This has been a favorite of mine for over 20 years now. Great food at a good price, and the staff has always been awesome. Their subs are the best, but so is everything else on the menu. I've never been disappointed.

Chicken Parmigiana with ziti great dinner generous amounts of cheese chicken and ziti. Sauce was full of flavor and zesty texture. Italian wedding soup was tasty and good and hot! With the second generation of owners the food is as good as it was 35 to 40 years ago. It seems it was passed down from the original generation of owners. That's amazing!

The pan pizza was DELICIOUS. Quick pickup as well and my family loved it.

Funny story, first time I ordered I thought they had toasted the sub. Nope, the bread is so fresh; it was still warm.

Best steak sandwiches around. Garlic bread with cheese also highly recommended. I've been going here for over 25 years and the food is as good now as it was then.

I have been going to Alpha sub since I was a little girl. Food is always good. Service is always fast and friendly.

This place is on point. I walked in on a Friday evening prime time needing 2 pies and having not called ahead. I expected a bit of a wait.

They were extremely busy but very well staffed. The man who took my order was cheerful and courteous, told me he'd have them right out.

Less than 15 minutes later I was on my way, and the Pizza was as good as I've had in the area, and very reasonably priced.

It's worth going out of the way to get subs here. They are the best around. They used to have better fries though, the kind with a battered coating I think. This was years ago, but now the fries are below average.

Just placed an order for bourbon Street down the road from them. Food is out of this world. I got the penne with garlic and olive oil chicken and broccoli as am Italian and a Cook for Aramark this was off the charts pasta was Al Dante three I love it. Broccoli was very fresh cooked to perfection and the chicken just melted in your mouth. This was an awesome meal five stars plus. Anna G.

This may be some of the best subs in the state, and I've been to many famous sub shops. Always fresh and what makes it for me is the bread. Not only are the subs great here but all their food is good, from pasta, to cheesesteaks, to pizza. Been coming here most of my life and it's always been great.

Great steak sandwichs. Anything on a roll is great there. Rolls are amazing. Pizza is also great. My wife's favorite is the tortellini. Great service and atmosphere, friendly staff.

Service is quick. Food is fresh. A little pricey but I can live with it for now.

I've eaten many a sub in my day, and yet nothing can top Alpha Sub for the top spot. Maybe it's the bread, with a great crust, holds everything together, but still soft and chewy. Maybe it's the broccoli in the veggie sub, something you don't get at a chain spot. Maybe it's the portion, with a large sub filling me up for a day. Or maybe it's the side of perfect garlic knots. Whatever it is, it's working.

There is plenty more to choose from, and I've never had a bad meal in the decades I've been coming here. My mom swears by the tuna sub, and my sister is always happy with any of the pasta. The food comes out quickly, the staff is friendly. Whether you are in town or need a quick stop off of I-78, this is worth the visit.

We love this small town deli/restaurant. Go back when we are in the area. Pasta was hot n delicious. Server was so very sweet and kind. Prices were fine for us. No waiting at lunch time to get a table. Had spaghetti w vodka sauce n meatball. Now Im hungry to go back again.😊

I like this place a lot. They have a couple vegan options but I always get the sauteed broccoli, garlic, and onion spaghetti dinner asking for no dairy. It's tasty. The servers remember my order after not being there for months! Always friendly and priced well! Great for the whole family or just a nice bite out.
