Ginkaku Japanese Bistro

Upon arriving to the place there is plenty of parking, which was great! The outside doesn’t do the inside justice, very nicely organized and clean establishment with beautiful inside decor.

We were seated immediately and our server was very friendly and took care of us a party of 4.

I ordered the yakitori as a starter , it was delicious and tasty, perfectly grilled. It came with a peanut butter sauce which was really good , just not what I personally like so I swapped it for spicy mayo which was also delicious and had a nice kick.

I started off with a drink and got an old fashion, it was tasty and strong! Just how I like it!

I also had a seaweed salad which was perfectly seasoned.

I then ordered two specialty roles the hot night and the ocean king (I swapped the mango for cream cheese).

Both rolls were huge and I can say this is the best sushi I have ever had! You can taste the flavors were fresh and so were the ingredients!

For dessert we had the vanilla, strawberry and green tea mochis which are all a must try!

Will be a returning costumer.

I only got a few apps to go but they were all excellent. The gyoza was a tad small but the dough was super thin (the way it should be) unlike some other places where the dough is like a half inch thick and the dumpling is basically all dough. The filling was awesome pork not drowning in MSG for flavor. I will definitely be trying some main courses next time.

Everything was good. However, they seemed to be understaffed so the service was quite slow. Would have been more fun if they have some music on. Plenty of parking outside.

Found our new sushi place, for both dine in and take out.

We've tried this place a few times for sushi take out and it has been nothing less than amazing. Tonight we decided to try dine in for the first time, and oh. my. gosh.

Everything was incredible from start to finish. The restaurant looked clean and organized, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the food was outstanding. The fish was super fresh, the rice was cooked perfectly, and the balance of flavors in the rolls took the dishes to the next level.

If you haven't tried this place before, I HIGHLY recommend checking them out. Great service, fresh food, amazing experience!

Great spot for fresh fish. My favorites are their yellowtail and tuna sushi. Their cocktails are really unique and delicious, too!

Took a friend here for their birthday. Shared the spring roll and pepper tuna. The tuna was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. The rolls were just as tasty. My favorite is the beyond roll which is vegan. Had hot house sake that was made the food even tastier. Service was good.

A great place to go for some sushi in the area. They have some great rolls that I have never tried before and I appreciated that. I think for the amount you pay for the special roles specifically—you absolutely get your moneys worth. I also ordered the steak hibachi, and the fried rice particularly was tasty. Otherwise, the service was good. We didn’t wait too long on a Friday night and our hostess was very nice and accommodating. I’ll definitely be back here.

This restaurant has a very annoying entrance which has deter me from coming in before. I usually dine in another Japanese restaurant in the area. We decided to give it a go nonetheless, and we are glad we did. The food is delicious, fresh and they serve it fast and at the right temperature. The soup was nice and balanced, the fish was great and fresh, the avocado salad with the sauce was a pair made in heaven, the takoyaki was onen of the best I've had, and the sushi rolls were great. The cocktail was ok, and the beer was really good, first time trying that brand.

The servers are walking around in traditional kimono, you have visibility of the sushi chef at the bar and the music was not loud, which made for decent background noise. In overall a pleasant experience and we will be coming back again.

Our new go-to for sushi or anything Japanese. Sushi is the best in the Monmouth area, and the other food we have tried (vegetable fried rice, spring rolls, gyoza, etc) have all been top notch as well. The food is flavorful but not heavy or greasy, not even the fried rice. Even though it’s not really “sushi” the avocado peanut rolls (I have no idea what’s on the peanuts but it makes them 10x better) with spicy mayo is one of the most delicious things I’ve had in awhile. They also don’t use much rice on the rolls which is great, too. Much better inside to rice ratio than most but for same price. Highly recommend!

After always passing this place on rt 34, we finally decided to give Ginkaku a try and were delighted with our experience. I started off with a Hiro Sunrise, which was sweet & refreshing. We then moved onto appetizers. The shrimp shumai was soft & melted in your mouth. Then we moved onto the spring rolls, which were delicious with the chili sauce & the chicken lettuce wraps which were packed with pieces of chicken, veggies & the pineapple gave it a tangy sweetness. Then we got the black angel roll (no avocado) and it was fantastic! We finished off our dinner with the vanilla ice cream tempura & another drink. Everything was absolutely delicious & we enjoyed our time! They had a nice ambience, the restaurant was clean, and the dishes & cutlery was so cute! We found our new favorite local sushi place & takeout spot!

Great restaurant!! Loved everything from the food to the atmosphere inside the restaurant. The servers are very friendly, and make it a nice dining environment. The Pineapple fried rice with chicken was the best I’ve ever had!!! Highly recommend it. The teriyaki chicken was also great! Absolutely going back!

Sushi rolls here are delicious! I had the dragon roll , duck roll and salmon roll. 😋 They are open for sit in dining and takeout.

Very delicious food in a beautiful setting. We came for a special dinner and were not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh, and the restaurant was quiet, peaceful and had a nice ambiance. Overall a wonderful experience!

Waitress was extremely helpful and polite. She took the time to write the name of the sale we were enjoying, so we could buy it out of restaurant and have at home; THAT was very thoughtful and seems the norm for this gem of a Japanese Restaurant. * be mindful the traffic light is placed in a tricky spot to enter/exit…

Great food. This place has some of the best sushi. I ever had in my life the sever is friendly. Definitely will go back again .Surprise box is my favorite roll. Yammy

After long time, enjoyed Japanese cosine. Ordered sashimi and hibachi seafood, loved it.
