River Thai Cuisine

I was in the area and decided to try out River Thai Cuisine. The restaurant was pretty quiet and had friendly staff. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai (pictured below) and the Tom Yum soup. Both items came out within 10 min of ordering and were delicious; I particular liked the level of spice of the pad Thai (4/5). Definitely worth another visit.

Love this place! Service is always great, BYOB, and everything I have tried has been delish!! Appetizers chicken satay and steamed chicken and shrimp dumplings.

The Thai basil noodles are great here! In the years I've been coming here I've never had a dish I didn't like.

We showed up and didn’t realize how close to closing they were. Asked if we could eat in, and they said YES! I’m so glad they did. The food was awesome and the staff friendly. A must go to for Thai food. 10 STARS ⭐

The BEST Thai food around! I’ve never had a bad meal here and I’ve been coming for around five years! The staff is wonderful and so kind and helpful. My favorite Thai restaurant around, I recommend it to everyone!

I just felt like I needed to throw in an update after all that's happened in the world. I've been a regular patron of River Thai for over a decade now and I still love it just as much as ever. During the pandemic, it was comforting to know I could still get my favorite food. The food is always hot and delicious whether you dine-in or take-out. The added benefit of DoorDash/GrubHub helps on the days I can't get there personally. And of course the staff is as lovely and wonderful as ever. If you've never tried Thai, make this your first adventure. You will not regret it. If you're a Thai food veteran, than do yourself a favor and stop in. It's still by FAR my favorite Thai place and the only one I'll go to.

First place I tried Thai and it’s still my favorite. They have extremely friendly employees, big portions, and the food itself is just amazing. It’s always a good time for River Thai. Unfortunately, like many Thai restaurants, they are closed on Mondays So sometimes I think ahead and order on Sunday so I have it on Monday. It’s that good!

I had never had Thai food prior to my 30's with the exception of a trip to Georgia. Clearly the good people of Georgia can do some things well, but Thai is not one of them.

River Thai was not my first experience with this food, but it was the best. I went here on the recommendation of a Chiropractor who had a friend who was a huge foodie. That foodie told the Chiropractor that River Thai had the best Thai food he had ever eaten and it surpassed any other placed by far.

My favorite dish is the Pad Thai. it is fantastic, regardless of your choice of protein. I enjoy the curry puff appetizer. They are more than accommodating with the spice levels from "not at all" up to "oh my God, why did I ask for this?" I have never had a bad meal there. My wife, who has eaten far more Thai food than I have also has said that no one makes better Pad Thai.

While I have primarily eaten in the restaurant, we have ordered take out from time to time. We have always picked up when ordering take out.

The restaurant is clean inside, if not a little small, but it doesn't need to be large. The people are very nice. The only complaint I have ever had is not everyone at the table's food comes out at the same time. They will carry one or two dishes out at a time. This has never been a personal problem that took away from my enjoyment, just a little quirk of this particular place.

I absolutely recommend it and if my family ever wants Thai, this is where we go.

One of the best thai restaurants arround, with extremely friendly staff (family owned, I think). We used it times and times again, sometimes bringing out of towners (i.e. Utah). Everytime a good experience.

The best thai food! I highly recommended the papaya salad, the duck tamarind, sweet n sour chicken with shrimp, beef sate, Kathy's Chicken special with mystical sauce and of course you have to get a Thai Ice Tea! The people who own and operate this place are so kind. Please do them and yourselves a favor and try them out! You will not be disappointed.

Came in with friends for a late dinner before a show at the Starland Ballroom.
We were impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the waiters even before we ordered. Absolutely stunned by the dishes when they came out - minimal wait time, generous portions and very authentic taste, served steaming hot so we could tell it came straight from the kitchen with no delay.
The food is very reasonably priced, the portions are large and incredibly flavourful, and the service and general atmosphere is wonderful.
If by chance you find yourself in the area, don't hesitate to come in, and don't forget to order a Thai iced tea!

First time trying this restaurant, honestly fresh, clean, flavorful food. Recommend the Siam Chicken dish.

This is a great Thai place with a wide range of delicious dishes at affordable prices. The staff is friendly and personable. I have been here several times and gotten different things each time, all good. I recommend the Summer Roll and the Massamun Curry. They have a $15 credit card minimum.

I love this gem of a place. I used to work close by and would go for dinner here about once every 2 weeks. I usually get the pineapple fried rice and have them remove the raisins and add scallions.. it’s delicious and last me like 2-3 days. I also get the Thai tea and the paad-Seew (maybe spelled it wrong) and all is delicious. I used to eat Thai at Pongsri restaurant in Midtown NYC when I worked there years ago and this place is the same quality of food. I live in Woodbridge and will take the trip to South River (20 minutes) just for this food. In fact, I was craving it tonight big time but they are closed on Monday. I wish they were closer to my home, I’d def be there once a week minimum. Staff is very pleasant as well, but not overly annoyingly friendly. I believe it’s a family owned business and English is not their first language which some may confuse with being rude, but not I. In my opinion, the food is authentic, delicious, and nice size portions. Those on here saying the portions are small, I question how much they can eat normally, because I find the portions plentiful and I’m no size 6. It is a little pricey, but worth it and good Thai food is typically somewhat of a splurge and that’s what you’ll get here.

Ordered some take out after not trying them in a long time. Curry Puff appetizer was really good, Tom Yum soup gets better as you savor the broth. Chicken in the soup could have been more tender. Basil Noodle Beef main dish, excellent! Was like home made, medium was just hot enough it sneaks up on you. Will be back soon to try something else.

Picked up take-out after a football game last weekend. I was with my son and my husband. We all LOVED the food! The peanut sauce / dressing was spot on! Best we ever had! The chicken was cooked perfectly! We will be back!!!!!

Long time customer, this is by far the best place to have thai food. To all east brunswick, south river, sayreville, old bridge folks, come and visit this wonderful place. No dine in available, just great food. You will not be disappointed.

The women that works there who I think is the owner is An ANGEL.. Such good people and the food is DELICIOUS! My Aunt loves the Duck! We will be back again hopefully soon. 🙏

The woman was super sweet and very attentive the food came fast and was very good! I’ve tried many places and this is my new favorite. Give them a try and you won’t be disappointed!

I'm partial to all Thai-food locations, so the food is just outrageously good. So in trying to find the item that sets this location apart from other Thai restaurants, NEW JERSEYS BEST THAI ICED-TEA.

Best thai food I've had in this area. I love their red curry. The shrimp were clean and not over or under cooked. The owners are friendly.
