The Buttered Biscuit

While I no longer live in New Jersey, every time I visit my family, I try to stop by The Buttered Biscuit. It is truly one of my top 5 brunch experiences in the country, and I’ve had a lot of brunch experiences in my life.

It’s always busy and humming with energy. The benedicts are divine, the coffee is incredible, and the biscuits are absolute heaven. Highly recommend a visit. It’s worth the wait!

Brunch is the best meal and this place nailed it. Would definitely go again if I was in the area!!

*David’s Homemade Corned Beef Hash with grilled asparagus, Swiss cheese, poached eggs, Hollandaise & biscuit with cinnamon maple butter- very good; corned beef was tender & well seasoned; all the other elements were present and delicious; the biscuit was big, little flaky but good and so was the butter
*Lorraine’s Ho Cakes (three cornmeal pancakes with butter & raspberry jam) - Good; different texture/little more grit but lighter than normal pancake; raspberry jam added to the dish

What a fun place. Fantastic wait staff. Ask for Joey, he’s great. Perfect BISCUITS. Great hash. Delicious potatoes. A varied and interesting menu. Street parking.

Great little breakfast spot at the shore. Nice portions, good selection and specials. You get cinnamon butter with your biscuit.

My family and I love visiting the Buttered Biscuit for breakfast. It used to be a tiny, quaint little spot that always had a wait. Luckily they expanded their space and can accommodate more people. Lucky us!! We always start out ordering the griddled crumb cake as a starter. Sometimes we add the candied grapefruit half as a starter too. The Ho Cakes are yummy and so is the the lox scramble. We keep going and trying all the menu items. Yummy!!

Everything great. Literally my only tip is It's one of those small places where there's really no way not to be seated downwind of the door breeze, so if it's a borderline chilly day, bring something with sleeves. Other than that, everything we ordered was delicious and they have great variety and service.

What a great place. Great food. Great coffee. Great, fast service. Cool vibe. Nice people. Obviously very popular, so I guess get there early. And so near the shore where you can walk off all the food.

The food here is amazing! We went for brunch and ordered the homemade corned beef hash (poached eggs, hollandaise, asparagus, swiss cheese, biscuit, cinnamon butter) and my sister got the meatloaf (gave me some to sample, yum). We also shared pancakes with bananas and walnuts for the table simply because we wanted to try them. They were good. 😋

We will definitely be back to try more menu items. I was full and happy. Service was good too. 👍 👍

The food was so good!! The little downtown feel is also really nice. Feels like a little beach downtown. Beach is a bit of a walk from, but it’s a nice walk! Def a place to dine!!

We had an awesome breakfast at the Buttered Biscuit today! The portion sizes are very generous and the food was awesome. The homemade hot coco was also very good. The wait can be a little long for the Sunday brunch rush, but we sat at the counter and still had an excellent experience.

We had a great meal! Our server was kind and made sure we had everything we needed before our meals came out. The food was incredible. My husband got the special (beef chili and cheddar cheese omelette) and it was spectacular. I got the breakfast burrito and the avocado was perfection. Great coffee, too, strong but not bitter. Looking forward to our next visit!

First time here. Had a wonderful brunch with large party of 6 on the sidewalk! We had a 25 minute wait as they have limited seating, but it was well worth the wait! If yiu like comfort food, this is your place! The hostess and our server were exceptional. The recommendations were great, and we had several different dishes that were served in a timely manner and prepared just right! I had the breakfast burrito which was excellent. Their top seller is the corned beef hash special, which was ordered and enjoyed by our friend. Pricing is very reasonable and coffee was very good also! We will definitely return the next time we are in the area! 👍🏾👍🏾

Delicious! That's it, just Delicious. The food is great, service was great. It was real corned beef hash. No fake stuff. Eggs were made exactly like I asked, over medium. Friends let me taste the grilled crumb cake, omg so good. They even grilled a grapefruit. So yummy. Can't wait to go back. Only complaint...the huge wait to get a table. Ugh.

Great place for breakfast and lunch. My friend and I went this morning for breakfast and it was delicious. I had the Copenhagen, minus the salmon (I'm vegetarian) but I substituted it with mushrooms. I couldn't help but try the cornmeal pancakes with butter and raspberry jam. Pure perfection!! Service is great, place is clean and pretty. Recommend to get there early on a weekend as it gets packed quickly.

Have been coming here for years, Favorite Breakfast In NJ. Highly Recommend, this is a must try. The Maui Mega fresh toast is awesome, the cakes and pastries they offer are great as well. Try the butter biscuit scramble or the omelette and you won’t regret it.

Love, Love, Love The Buttered Biscuit. They have an incredible menu. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming. Staff was friendly. Portions were large, especially the big biscuits. Everything was so good. I really enjoyed the carmalized grapefruit. It was so refreshing and unique. I would absolutely go back here.

My cousin took me for breakfast....both our meals were excellent. He had a western omelette right from the menu and I had a mushroom and sausage omelette with cheese....potatoes with both....one order of toast and a biscuit with the other meal. Awesome meals and a great way to get the day rolling. We did counter service which was first come first serve, and it was fine. Looking forward to making a follow-up trip next time I am in the area 👍💪

I was in awe of this place. Not only do they have one of the most creative, incredible breakfast / brunch / lunch menus I've ever seen, but the service was spot on. They were absolutely packed this morning but nonetheless I never felt neglected by the waitress at any point and the food came out unbelievably fast, hot and fresh. What a treat!

The Buttered Biscuit is the best breakfast place you can go to in the area. Great menu, consistently well executed, with friendly servers. But beware - the word is out, so expect lines at prime times. For the perfect experience, sit outside on a nice weekday and watch life go by on Route 71.
