I've lived in Jersey City since college, about 12 years now. I still remember when Key Foods was still called C-Town. I'm so impressed by how much this store has grown. It used to be a couple of shelves back then. Over the years, they have slowly expanded their offerings, turning into a gourmet-feeling store but still keeping a reasonably priced selection. The store is always clean and organized. The produce is always fresh and ripe. They carry so many brands from all over. The most amazing part, they have employed some of the same staff members since I was in college. You can tell the team works extremely hard and is loyal to one another. It's a great feeling every time I shop there.

Good supermarket for something quick. It is a bit more expensive than the ShopRite so I don't frequently come here. It is always well stocked.

Edit: They're still reliable! If you do delivery, make sure you use the PATH via shop mercato

Why write a review for a grocery store?
Because of the notable staff and warm atmosphere. The clean shelves and the effort that goes into great service and well stocked shelves. This isn’t just a store. I was talking with Lisbeth after she went above and beyond with great costumer experience, and this store is community. She described how everyone at the store cares and tries to deliver a wonderful environment for everyone despite any language barriers. Which is helpful in a multi cultural neighborhood. I would highly recommend this store to anyone, but more so take a moment to talk to the friendly staff.
Thank you Key Food.

I love perusing the small and crowded aisles of this local super market because I never know what I'm gonna find: stroopwaffels, Mexican specialty sodas, Korean snacks? Yes, yes, yes, and more. Oh and they have all the regular stuff as well and inventory is usually excellent: very rare that a product is out of stock. Oh, and yes, everything is overpriced but that is everywhere here--welcome to the neighborhood in case this is news to you.

At the corner store
It’s the corner of a brand new world
You can go in there
Just to know what it feels like

It’s open
And you’re goin' in
Oh and you know you can
Hoping you can stay there forever

(dun-da-dun-dun-dun)
I'm tall and handsome
(dun-da-dun-dun-dun)
And I'm dancing on the floor

At the corner store
We go all around the world
Till it closes

Love this supermarket, and wish I lived closer to it (though they do offer delivery). The store itself is quite small, and some areas may feel a bit cramped, but boy so they pack their stock to the ceiling, metaphorically of course. It's also got a great selection of meat and seafood, and it's one of the few places carrying whole octopus in the neighborhood. Price here is very reasonable too. Staffs are friendly and efficient, which makes a overall pleasant shopping experience.

This used to be a C-Town market, and the change to a Key Food has been welcome.
It has a surprising number of products for its size and caters to the Whole Foods crowd both in brands offered and prices charged.
The cashiers seem to be unhappy to be there, but the rest of the staff is topnotch. If they don't sell what you're looking for, request it; it may be on the shelves in no time.
They recently overhauled the produce section and got in more vegetarian and vegan options in all sections.

Cute little store, I went here because it was the closest grocery store near my airbnb. Has very fresh produce there as well. The prices are a bit pricey but if you live in the area and need to quickly whoop something up to eat, this is the place. Also, the employees that work there are so nice.

Great selection for a small store. I'm always able to find what I'm looking for and rarely run into out-of-stock items. Prices are a bit higher than supermarkets, but I generally head to Key Food for the convenience.

Really nice employees. Convenient neighborhood store with a good amount of variety. Doesnt have as much as the larger chains but has everything you need. Fresh boards head available cut to order. A little pricey overall but worth it for the convenience! Only thing I wish I could change is there is a customer loyalty program that literally means nothing. You can scan your card but dont get points or special coupons or offers. No point to the program.

My absolute favorite neighborhood grocery store. Don't let the size fool you, there is an impressive amount of variety packed into these shelves. I always manage to fine what I need. Can't recommend this place enough.

Such a nice supermarket. Small and has everything you may need. I was impressed as to how a small supermarket has so much stuff. Really convenient and easy. I liked it better than walking for hours in a huge walmart. Haha.

These guys have seriously upped their game. Clearly smaller than ShopRite, but very good selections and variety. Went for sourdough bread the other day and had like 5 different choices from one artisanal brand alone. Multiple types of potatoes, onions lettuces, etc in the produce dept.

Great selection for a small local grocery store, especially when you don't have a car, and it's on the way to and from home. There's also a CitiBike stop right in front of the store. The produce always looks fresh, and they have organic options. My go-to spot for groceries.

I remember this place being a run down hispanic grocery but now as the gentrification sets in the neighborhood this place became a legitimate hip little grocery! The goods are not expensive. Some are actually cheaper than Shoprite! I would visit here again.

For a small grocery store, they have basically everything you need. Surprising selection and much more convenient than trekking all the way to shop rite if you are local to the neighborhood.

Downtown's staple super market. Key Foods is a solid place to get food. Isles are a bit tight, but it's better that they carry more stuff than the place be easy to walk around and empty. Lines move quickly and staff is friendly.

Although this is a small local grocery store, it has an excellent selection and the produce is well maintained. It has many non-dairy alternatives for those who are lactose intolerant, vegetarian, vegan, or gluten allergy/intolerance. Also, a good offering of local items.
