Free, fast to walk through even with reading. If you don't want to spend too much time but still want to get some historical facts about the statue of Liberty it's great ! It has everything from its elaboration to its construction to its fame. From a French visitor, I'm very amazed at how this island has attracted so many visitors at this French-American symbol.

You can also go on the roof top, usually less frequented but has a nice view of NYC.

The trip across to seethe Iconic Liberty was an amazing experience itself but to discover this Museum on the Island was a bonus!!! Fascinating!!! Not a big Museum but full of artifacts and lots of information about Liberty herself and what she represents. The original torch is housed here. It's great to learn of how she came to be and how she still has influence across the globe. I definitely recommend a trip to this fascinating Museum

Included in your ticket. The have a short 30 minute video about the history of the statue of Liberty (broken up into 3 separate 10 min videos). The museum has a scale replica of one of the feet and the face, as well as the original torch. (There is also a museum in the 2nd floor of the pedestal that has very similar information as the museum building)

No entrance fee and has everything about the history of the statue. There is also an actual torch portion from the past. The roof platform is a nice place to take photos with good views.

It was a great opportunity to learn about the history and significance of this great American monument and understand the history of the statue and its role as a beacon of hope and freedom for millions of immigrants who came to America in search of a better life. The museum features exhibits on the construction of the statue, its original purpose, and the people who played a key role in bringing it to life. It also showcases artifacts and historic documents that tell the story of the statue and its impact on American society.

Additionally, the museum provides an opportunity to reflect on the values and ideals that the statue represents. It encourages us to think about the importance of freedom, democracy, and human rights, and to consider how they can contribute to creating a more just and equitable society.

Obviously the Statue of Liberty is what you come to liberty Island for, but the SOL museum is a definite cherry on top when it come to complimenting lady liberty. So much information and pictures/stories about what happened on the island or renovations and whatnot on the statue.

Visited on a Tuesday (7/12/22), crowds were not that bad. I will tell you we left from the Liberty State Park (Jersey City) in NJ and immediately after clearing security there was no line and we were able to board the ferry before our 12pm ticket time which was awesome as it was a hot day and we were not prepared to be waiting in the sun but we got lucky. The Museum is air conditioned so it was a great place to take a break from the heat and enjoy the many displays and informational areas throughout the building.

Great time visiting the Statue of Liberty and the museum. Looks so small compared to everything else in New York but really impressive. Shame about all the construction work around the Statue but understandable in order to conserve the monument.

Museum was really informative and it was reading up on the history and seeing the artifacts.

The Statue of Liberty Museum is a great companion institution to the Statue of Liberty itself. Here one can learn about the inspiration, construction, and legacy of this great monument. There is a three segment film about the Statue of Liberty narrated by respected broadcast journalist Diane Sawyer, as well as historical exhibits and interactive displays. All of these are highly interesting, but my favorite highlight is seeing the original landmark's torch that was replaced in 1984 due to irreparable damage up close here at the museum.

Yes, the Statue is amazing but at this museum you will learn the story behind it. It's free and well worth your time. You will also see original artifacts that don't exist anywhere else. They also have very clean bathrooms and friendly park rangers.

This place is well worth the visit preferably before you see the statue but also amazing checking it out afterward. If you’re strapped for time, check out the 10 minute movie in the theater. It gives so much context for the statue and also the rest of the museum! It’s also really cool to catch the original torch on exhibit!

A museum located in the park. It is a great experience to learn the history behind the Statue of Liberty. Managed to watch the movie describing the process behind the creation of the monument which was amazing. A definite must for us to appreciate the Liberty to be more than meets the eye.
