Ya Ya's House Southern Cuisine

We had the fried chicken leg and catfish dinners with Mac&cheese as an add on side- the portions are generous so we ended up bringing half of the yams and greens home! We both loved the macaroni and potato salads too, the mustard/mayonnaise was perfect. Lemon cake was fresh and light. Highly recommend.

The food was absolutely amazing, and the people running the place are so nice! This was my first experience there, and I can't wait to go back. The yams were out of this world!

I've been to Ya Ya's several times, and every time I go I love it. This is the first time I had wings (Jerk; hoping to try the Curry next time). I thought I was going to dinner, but I must have gone to church because it was an almost religious experience they were so amazing. Absolute best I've ever had, anywhere in the country.

Loved everything else, too - the red beans and rice, the greens, the yams and the banana pudding were all like a trip back home to my Maw Maw's dinner table.

I was in town for a bowling tournament and was staying at a nearby hotel and looking for spots to eat. This place popped up and it looked good so me and my friend decided to give this place a try. I must say everything was on point!! I ordered the two piece catfish dinner with collard greens and Mac and cheese along with candied yams and everything was very tasty!! The catfish was cooked to perfection…Mac and cheese was on point as well…collard greens were nice and were just the way I like them and the yams were great as well!! Staff was super friendly and went out of their way to make sure I was ok!! If I ever come up to these parts again, I’m definitely coming to this place!!

Fried catfish was delicious. The lemon pepper wings were absolutely awesome. Corn bread was crumbly and great. Had red velvet cake, cause the lady said they were out of lemon pound cake, and that to was fantastic.

This was my first time going to Ya Ya's House Southern Cuisine after seeing so many wonderful reviews. I got the cat fish dinner and peach cobbler for desert. Best Southern food I have ever had, the food was delicious and customer service was excellent. I would highly recommend place.

My husband we in the area we decided to drive out a little bit more to stop here before heading home. We didn't realize that it was restaurant week up here so the restaurant was pretty packed .

I'd have to say this is the closest southern food we've had so far and it was really good. The chicken thigh was delicious, along with the mac and cheese which was out of this world , the potato salad, macaroni salad and the banana pudding . All very delicious. The owner is very friendly , overall everyone there was very nice and outgoing. The prices were very affordable as well .

Definitely come here and check this spot out . Only thing is good luck finding parking.

Service—above and beyond. Location—super convenient to a proctors show or the parking garage if you’re downtown for other purposes.

But can I tell you about this food?!? Everything was so flavorful and plentiful. From the yams to the haddock and fried chicken and potato salad and collard greens made with turkey: it got to the point I was mad I couldn’t eat it all nor all at once.

I will get dressed in real pants and leave my house for this food. ❤❤

My husband and I came here on Saturday. Great customer service. The food was so delicious I got chicken dinner my husband got rib dinner. The blueberry bread pudding was Devine. Definitely recommend this place great food. I will be coming back. Thank Ya Ya’sSouthern Cuisine

Food was delicious! Great value for dinner specials! Definitely taste and feel the Southern cooking, hospitality, and love! Quaint place near Proctor's, which adds to the coziness!

So glad all the Italian restaurants were full before our show at Proctors because we ended up at Yaya's! Immediately greeted with a smile and warm feel of grandma's warm embrace 😊 Once our food came it was all mouth watering smiles and the food was amazing! It all went down like a BBQ backyard party with a smooth summer breeze covered in soulful blessings. The night was great for and a great time at Proctors Annie debut. Thank you YAYA's we'll definitely be back soon.

The location, service, and food - all 5 star. I highly recommend the Cajun wings, ribs, cornbread, green beans and yams. I recommend this restaurant if you are looking for southern cuisine upstate!

We stopped in before a show at Proctor’s, the food was excellent, the service was great and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!!

My partner & I ordered take-out from Ya-Yas a few days ago. We just moved to the neighborhood and this place had been on our bucket list so we were excited to check it out. I ordered the fried haddock with candied yams, collard greens, potato salad, and cornbread. My partner got the fried chicken dinner with string beans, candied yams. For dessert we ordered peach cobbler and red velvet cake. The food was incredible — we particularly raved about the collard greens which were out of this world. I loved that they were shredded and full of flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by the candied yams as well. I’m typically disappointed with candied yams from restaurants—they’re either over-cooked and mushy, or not sweet enough. These candied yams were perfect, and for me, the only time I’ve enjoyed yams from a restaurant that can rival my own! The fried fish was also perfection —well-seasoned, decent ratio of batter to fish, and perfectly fried. The red velvet cake was impressive as well—we both loved the frosting and appreciated the rich flavor of the cake (which wasn’t saturated with too much sweetness). I found the fried chicken to be just ok. I will definitely be back to try other things on their menu—especially their wings and oxtails. I recommend having backup options when you order because they seem to sell out quickly around dinner time.

It's like stopping at your favorite aunt's house. Everyone was so friendly (staff and customers) and the food was amazing! New favorite spot when seeing a show in Schenectady.

so yummy. so much included in the meal. Food was cooked fresh and clean. The fried haddock was light and crispy. not greasy what so ever.. all home made. Ive never been a fan of candied yams but theirs was very good. I will be back again and again¹⁰. The people working were very nice.

Everything was delicious in the wings were perfectly crispy. Do you want the most bang for your buck get the full wings.

One of the best restaurants in Schenectady hands down. Ordered the fried chicken and greens dinner with a side of Mac and cheese. Don't even go around the block to that over priced "comfort food" restaurant. Here you get what you pay for (a whole plate). The chicken was flavorful and far from dry the skin was crispy and wasn't bland at all. I also appreciated how the greens were cut and prepared. You're missing out not going here. Food came quick too.
