I always loved this place as a child as well. I use to play with the doll houses they use to have in store front. It is nice to still have a store that is a Classic to me.

I live in Denver, and work at a remote company. I was planning a baby shower for my manager who lived in Schenectady and wanted to support a local business. I contacted them with our order and asked if they could help me with a surprise delivery for the remote baby shower. Not only did they make sure to get every book on our list, they shopped over the phone with me to find other gifts, and then packaged them up so beautifully at no extra cost. On top of that, Kathleen timed the delivery (which was a 20 minute drive for her) so that she would arrive just as the shower started and helped me keep this a surprise. This team really went above and beyond and I am so thankful there are great stores like this in the world still, who will go the extra mile for their customers. Go today and buy a book there! How could anyone not adore this wonderful bookstore. If you are ever feeling blue (or even if you are not) come to the store and your spirits will be renewed by the books, jewelry, toys, cards, etc. and the lovely staff. So grateful that it has stayed in business for 50 years. It's my go-to store for books.

This place is absolutely adorable and all 3 staff I interacted with were very kind and helpful. I actually didn't end up purchasing anything during this visit (they had what I was looking for, I had just decided against the purchase.) I had been sent there from another local shop to poke around for Schenectady specific items and they had a very nice section of books about the area and also some from local authors. They also had a section for local made gifts and goods. I would love to go back when I have more time to spend there. I'm glad I went, I feel like this place has been here for so long and I always said one day, one day. Well one day came and I was definitely not disappointed.

One of the best independent bookstores I've ever been to. Hands down the best bookstore in the area. The staff are fantastic and the selection always unique and timely.

Wonderful bookstore. Travelled 180 miles to visit. Very browsable. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. For instance we were looking for books for 3rd grade readers in particular topics and we were shown right to them and got additional information from the person helping us to compare books. Will be traveling back to the store again, though we did also purchase a majority of our Christmas presents.

I’ve been shopping here for years and I am really thankful for this place. A great selection of books and gift that are really fairly priced.

I love this shop! Did some much needed Christmas shopping 🛍 🎄 Found beautiful earrings for my mom and fun activity books for my freinds kids! Their loyalty program is one I actually use, and their staff is super helpful. If they don't have a book they'll order a copy for you quickly.

I always enjoy this small but large in both spirit and great selections of items from books to speciality soaps. I have gone here a few times. I have bought books and gifts and I bought a local Schenectady light bulb shirt that I love from this place. I love the rewards program that they have here too. Make sure you sign up. The staff here are really nice and pleasant and helpful. One cool thing about this place is that they sometimes get guest authors to come for book signing . I just love this place.

This is the best bookstore in Schenectady. Its a combination gift shop and bookstore and both sides have great selections, reasonably priced. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Although its small, compared to a warehouse bookstore, that is part of its charm. Its not overwhelming and you can enjoy browsing through their collection. They are very supportive of local authors and carry books of local interest.
