Bywater

0ctober 2022: Bywater is a restaurant located in a former garage. Garage doors were turned into large windows, with a cozy but elegant dining area. There are several outdoor tables with wooden benches. Heaters provide warmth on cool fall days. We were there in mid October, and eating outdoors was quite comfortable.
I had crab baked in squash as an appetizer, and squid pasta. Both dishes were interesting, well prepared, and flavorful. Even though the presentation was not particularly elegant, the flavors were excellent.
The service was very friendly and attentive.

A new favorite in Rhode Island- Bywater is an innovative, unpretentious, upscale dining experience. We scored same day 7:15pm reservations via Resy for a last minute birthday celebration for four.

We tried basically everything on their seasonal, constantly changing menu, including:
- Four Crudos
- Cheese & Olives
- Lamb Tartare
- Black Bass Collars (like fish chicken wings)
- Daikon Radish Salad
- Squid Cacio e Pepe
- Steamed Little Necks
- Whole Fluke

Portions range from small to enormous- with plenty of options for fish lovers. The ingredients were so fresh and the service was fantastic! We will definitely be coming back to try the outdoor dining in the summer!

Love this place. The service is good and the food is excellent. I love the pork dish with different cuts of meat. That goes really well with their house fries. I heard they have a dollar oysters on Monday and reservation is probably necessary for that.

I just flew in from San Diego and found this spot. She was able to squeeze me in at the bar and even recommended a few items which were amazing.

Jeff bartender took my drink orders and food orders. He was super busy but attentive and got the orders in quickly. And attended to my drink orders instantly.

Other customers to left and right of me started conversations with me. Customers that come seem very friendly and welcoming like the staff.

Great atmosphere. Not too loud. I would say it’s good for couples or groups of 4. I would say always book a reservation but especially with a group 4-8 hit definitely need reservations.

Drinks:
To drink I had 2 different white wines
Forgot to write these down. But both very good.

The mixed drinks I saw Jeff make looked amazing and reactions from other customers looked very pleased with what they got. Definitely will try when I am back.

Food:
Ordered the oysters and clams
Very fresh plump. Clean and tasty.

Ordered the mushrooms and onions
Rich soup many layers of flavor. Kept saying wow every scoop. Must get!!

Squid Cacio e Pepe
Amazing thinly sliced squid mixed in with the pasta. Amazing umami of flavor. For me i would say to share a half order is good. Definitely need to add other dishes to try.
Everything here has been an absolute hit. I don’t think you can order anything bad. ( definitely want to try the lamb Carpaccio and the steamed little necks next time.)

“Crudo” amazing each plate has its unique taste. It’s a plater of flavors . Very fresh local fish.

To finish:
Desert was amazing with like a sponge like cake topped with nuts. Not overly sweet but packed with flavors

My first time in RI and this place has set the bar really high.

This review is for the Bakeshop @ Bywater. Today I had my first spice roll. It was Dionysian delight with high quality cinnamon, subtle notes of peppery adjacent bite and the tang of citrus. The naturally leavened pastry dough is flaky lightness without the heavy doughy texture of flour and chemical enhancers. You close your eyes and dream of that morning along the Seine in your imagination as you peel it apart and slow yourself down while eating.

Like many things Bywater, it is the best cinnamon roll in the East Bay. Order using their square site via the Insta account. Order early. This is a special treat not to be missed!

The crab dip and crudo were amazing! Loved the milk punch. Thanks for squeezing us in with a full book of reservations!

Bywater is a fairly new restaurant to the Warren food scene. A small menu contains well thought-out, seasonally available foods along with some favorote all time ingredients. The drink selection is excellent, one such example being the organic blanco tequila having an almost crisp flavor.

The drink special menu is small, but are not just mixes of sugared flavor syrups. The recipes and ingredients seem as if the bartender who chose them has a vast understanding of the subtle nuances of various tastes.

Protip: Pick a day where you know it is sunny outside. You'll have the chance to really enjoy a sunrise over a scenic neighborhood with some visible waterfront.

Another protip: get the house pickles. It's 3 bucks, and they are pickles. I did. It was worth it!

We had our rehearsal dinner at Bywater and it was an incredible experience! We worked very closely with the owners to customize our food and drink menu for the evening. They were fantastic to work with and had lots of good ideas. The food was absolutely outstanding and all of our guests raved about it all weekend! So many of our guests plan to come back on their own. The Staff at Bywater was so friendly and accommodating and truly felt like friends by the time we left at the end of the evening. (A special shout out to the incredible bartender, Andrew!) They were kind and celebratory and we are grateful to them for treating our guests so warmly and kindly! The atmosphere at Bywater is cozy and inviting--everything is well-thought-out and intentional. From the location to the decor to the menu to the Staff, it was an incredible experience for us and our guests. Thank you, thank you Bywater!

Hands down one of the best restaurants in the State, the food and the ambiance are just incredible, this place alone is worth a trip to RI

Wonderful, fresh local food, served with creativity and care. Great service as well. And you must try the daily shrub - one of the best drinks I've ever had!

Best mocha ever! Not too sweet. The croissants are nicely structured and buttery!

Outstanding! Went here in Feb on a Saturday night with my wife. Everything we had was excellent. Entrees run $25-$30 but they have several apps/small plate options if you don't want to spend that much. Note that the menu is seasonal. Tons of drink and wine options. They had a few beers on draft and many options in bottle/cans at varying prices for all tastes. They offer housemade ice creams and other desserts.

I had the cassoulet (pictured), wife had the bolognese. We also shared the brussels and seafood chowder which were great as well.

All in all if you want a nice quiet restuarant with gourmet scratch cooking look no further.

Lastly, restaurant is small and gets booked so I recommend making reservations either online or call to check.

Probably one of the best restaurants in New England. The food is phenomenal and it will wake up your tastebuds and have them tingling with flavors. The service is very personal and friendly and everyone has a smile on their face.

Wish I could give 6 stars for service. So nice, attentive and knowledgeable. Every dish was creative, balanced and perfectly presented. Will be back as often as possible.

One of the best fish dishes I've ever had. Full grilled fluke with amazing sauce/toppings. Will go back and have recommended to many!

I loved my meal here. From the drink suggestions to the apps to the main meal. It was my first time here and I will certainly come back. Just being here and sharing a meal makes you feel like a local. Thank you so much for this experience!

Amazing seafood and dishes prepared with obvious care. Definitely a limited menu, but when the food was this good you don't feel like you've missed out on anything. We actually ended up ordering more dishes because of how good our initial orders were. Very cozy inside and super friendly staff- see if you can sit near the raw bar to watch the food get prepared right in front of you. One of the best meals, start to finish, I've had in a long time.

Enjoy the family style. My wife and I shared the olives, fries, cacio Pepe and little neck clams with sour dough bread and it was all amazing. Got a chilled red and crushed every bit of everything.

To power through all the obstacles as a small business owner and survive, especially in the restaurant industry, is a testimony to one's strength and dedication to their craft. Truly a delicious, humbling establishment that deserves accolades. Bravo!
