Nice health club. Very affordable and excellent staff. I've been a member off and on for the last 7 years. Had to stop during covid because they were temporarily closed and then I had some minor health issues but I'm signed back up and can't wait to get started!!!

I started going here and so far it's been a drastically better gym experience than other gyms I've been to. I find myself excited to go to the gym now, instead of dreading it. The machines are all marked with what muscle group they work on and how to use the machine, and the staff are amazing.

This is a large, modern, clean, multi-use, family friendly activity center. Come in as a guest for free. Swimming pool, hot tub, sauna; racket courts, basketball court, ping pong and billiards, extensive workout machines with no waiting in line, beautiful studios for yoga, Taichi, karate, and more. areas for tai chi yoga, etc. For seniors (possibly younger folks also) insurance pays the costs to join.

Kudos to Heidi Freitag, Health and Wellness Director. Just went thru a new member orientation and she did an excellent job explaining how the exercise equipment works. She was very knowledgeable and kind.

Started a AOA class. Active Older Adults. The instructor was awesome! Introduced herself before class and was very welcoming. She is energetic, engaging, explains each exercise clearly. Stressed sticking to your own level and modeled each one. Followed up after class. Excellent experience! Will definitely be going back.

Amazing people at the front. They helped me with the app on my phone. They have a lot of equipment and classes to choose from and the best of all and indoor pool and jacuzzi. Definitely would recommend it!

The staff is always friendly, facility is clean and well cared for, I love how it’s a welcoming place for people of all ages, abilities and interests. Truly feels like a community space and what a great resource this is for our town, especially during the cold, gray days!

Great for family and friends. Offers course, equipment, food, ect. (Update) They got new equipment and it's amazing. Easily the best gym in Sandpoint. It can get pretty packed but everyone is nice and make you feel like you belong here. They have equipment for every workout and I Definitely recommend you choose this gym.

This used to be SWAC. A full service, with trainers, gym. It changed ownership a while back and has become a YMCA.

Some things have changed and others, not. This is what I've experienced?

All the facilities remain 😊

Downstairs, that means full size swimming pool (now has lifeguards), and hot tub (can be in repair, so check), large changing rooms, showers, lockers and infrared sauna. Also, racquetball courts, and a studio used for sign-up classes like yoga, specialized fitness classes etc. There is also a small(ish) room with more calisthenic type equipment? Ropes, weights, TRX gear, large mirrored wall for form etc.

Upstairs has a large array of free weights, weight lifting machines, and all the cardio stuff: rowing, stairstep, treadmills, etc. There is also an independently owned and operated physical therapy place called Advance PT. I've had occasion to use them and can not speak highly enough about their staff and professionalism. They also utilize the gym equipment to get you back on track ASAP.

So, fees. I think this has probably improved for some as instead of a flat fee with additional enrollment $$$ (SWAC), it's now income based - so sliding scale that allows many more (I'm thinking) to make use of all offered. Especially the pool during summer for the children

That means busier? However, you just need to work out most frequented time frames (front desk can help?) to avoid (if important) those times that are after school or work etc. However.... I've never had to wait long for any machine and cardio is always open as are weights.

There is also an online class schedule now that you use to sign up for classes. It gives basic info and is very useful. Oh, nearly forgot, the downstairs lobby has a seating area and a small kitchen area.

On a side note? The team of personal trainers is no more. 😞

I think that's it! Lol Except to say the staff are all wonderful. Happy, helpful, and knowledgeable. Go try it out for a day!

Great experience ever time I take my 4 year old granddaughter for swimming lessons. Her instructor Lynn is fabulously. Penelope likes to get there early to give Mike a high 5 and watch the swim team in action. Great bunch of athletes.

It's a small YMCA but the staff is wonderful. Lots of classes to choose from, lots of machines as well. I've never had to wait for a machine. Racquetball courts, basketball courts, and dance studios. Full size pool. Pickleball courts outside. Nice lockeroom. My young child really likes it in Child Watch.

When I started at the club I used to play racquetball three days a week, work out on all the machines, use the pool, sauna, jacuzzi, but that was years ago. Now I'm 67, have multiple ailments & injuries to where I can only use a few of the machines, none for the legs, the pool & Jacuzzi and none of the courts. It's real hard to justify $60 a month, but when I called to see if there was some lower cost limited membership for old injured people I was told they don't have time for multiple types of memberships. Everyone pays the same. Looks like this will be my last few weeks. Doesn't YMCA stand for Young Man's Christian Association? Sad, I've been a member for years. Tyler from the club just contacted me and is working with me to find something an old broken down guy can justify for the limited use I am able to do. Thanks for being so understanding.
