Franklin County Medical Center

We had a very sick girl in our family and the staff took the best care of her from start to finish. Six days in the hospital is never fun; however, the care and attentiveness provided was unbelievable. We had to visit with my father in one of the major hospitals in Salt Lake City just weeks after our experience with FCMC and all we could think was, “Thank goodness we were taken care of in Preston”. We’ve lived here for 1 year and we are switching over all of our doctors and medical services to the FCMC teams.

LAST TUESDAY, I HAD A FULL HIP REPLACEMENT AT THE FRANKLIN COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER IN PRESTON, IDAHO. WORDS CANNOT FULLY DESCRIBE HOW AMAZING THE WHOLE PROCESS AND PROCEDURE WAS.
UPON ARRIVAL, I WAS BLESSED TO HAVE MY INTAKE DONE BY BRYAN ALGER. BRYAN WAS VERY KIND HEARTED AND PAID ATTENTION TO DETAIL. I HAVE TO SAY AT THIS POINT, THAT I WAS ACTUALLY TERRIFIED TO HAVE SURGERY, AFTER HAVING HAD A SOME VERY TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE WITH A DR. IN SLC WHO TRIED TO DO A PROSTATE PROCEDURE, IN OFFICE, WITH NO ANESTHESIA. I HAVE NEVER FELT SO MUCH PAIN IN MY LIFE THAN FROM THAT EXPERIENCE.
SO NATURALLY, I WAS PRETTY WORRIED ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT IN A FULL BLOWN HIP REPLACEMENT.
AFTER THE INTIAL INTAKE, DR. HICKEN CAME IN TO VISIT WITH ME ABOUT THE SURGERY. DR. HICKEN HAS WONDERFUL BEDSIDE MANNER. HE GENUINELY CARES AND LISTENS TO YOUR CONCERNS.
THE MAGIC REALLY GOT STARTED WHEN I MET WITH THE ANESTHESIOLOGIST, JOHN KEZELE. JOHN CAME IN TO PREP ME FOR THE SURGERY. JOHN WAS MADE AWARE OF THE TRAUMA I'D EXPERIENCED, WITH THE OTHER DOCTORS IN YEARS PAST. JOHN KEPT THE CONVERSATION LIGHT AND HIS SENSE OF HUMOR WAS AWESOME. WHAT IMPRESSED ME THE MOST WAS HE ASKED ONE OF THE NURSES TO GIVE HIM THE IV PORT NEEDLE. JOHN ALSO GRABBED SOMETHING TO NUMB THE INJECTION SITE. JUST THE MANNER IN WHICH JOHN PLACED THE IV AND THE FACT I DIDN'T FEEL EVEN A SLIGHT PINCH WAS AWESOME. BUT SERIOUSLY, WHEN SOMEONE DOES "THE GRUNT WORK" LIKE THAT AND IS INTENTIONAL TO MAKE YOU FEEL SAFE, YOU CAN'T JUST BUY THAT KIND OF CARE.
JOHN AND I DISCUSSED THE DIFFERENT METHODS OF ANESTHESIA THAT COULD BE UTILIZIED DURING THE HIP REPLACEMENT. I TOLD JOHN I WAS AFRAID OF WHAT I'D HEARD WITH REGARDS TO EPIDURALS. JOHN WAS VERY THOROUGH IN HIS DESCRIPTION OF WHAT TO EXPECT. AT ONE POINT, I JUST HAD TO TRUST JOHN WOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND MAKE THE EXPERIENCE THE BEST HE COULD.
AFTER JOHN ADMINISTERED THE "TWO COLD BEERS" (REALLY JUST SOME KIND OF COCKTAIL HE'D PREPARED TO HELP ME DEAL WITH THE ANXIETY AND REDUCE PAIN), I WAS SO RELAXED. ALL I CAN RECALL IS HAVING JORDAN (OPERATING ROOM ASSISTANT) HOLD ME IN HER ARMS, WHILE I SAT AT THE EDGE OF THE OPERATING ROOM TABLE. ALL I FELT WAS JOHN USING SOME KIND OF SOFT SPONGE THING TO DISINFECT THE AREA ON MY LOWER BACK WHERE THE EPIDURAL WAS TO BE PLACED. BEYOND THAT I DO NOT RECALL ONE THING. NO PAIN, NO BURNING NOTHING. THE SURGERY WENT GREAT, AND DR. HICKEN WAS VERY ENCOURAGING WITH HIS POST SURGERY REPORT.
ONCE I COULD FEEL MY LEGS, THE PHYSICAL THERAPISTS CAME IN AND HAD ME WALKING UP AND DOWN THE HALL AND EVEN GOING UP SMALL STAIRS. IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE HOW AMAZING IT WAS TO BE ABLE TO WALK!
I REALIZE THIS REVIEW IS LONG, BUT I JUST WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW HOW GRATEFUL I AM FOR THE GENUINE CARE I RECEIVED FROM MY MEDICAL TEAM. I WON'T BE GOING ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE FUTURE FOR SURGICAL SERVICES. I HAVE FOUND THE BEST OF THE BEST!

Love the family atmosphere of this hospital. So much better than the big hospitals in the area that just shuffle you through as fast as they can and you truly just feel like a dollar sign to them. Will always choose Franklin County Medical over any hospital in my area. The facility is so clean and the staff kind and attentive. This will always be my first choice in hospitals.

Received excellent care while a patient there. The doctor, nurses, cna's, x-ray and respiratory were very professional. Having been a co-worker with these people is not the same as a patient and receiving care from them. They treated me with respect and listened to my needs. Great job!

My experience with Dr Patten has always been great. He explains things thourally and has helped me over the years with excellent care. His staff is professional and truly cares. I would recommend anyone to go to him. The waiting time is quick I've never seen a Doctor where you get seen as quick as Dr. Patten I trust him with all my medical care

This hospital was more that giving when we showed up with a very sick friend who had no insurance and no money. I appreciated the willingness to help us and our friend in the situation that we were all in. Dr Jeffers, the nursing staff, and the billing department were great to help us figure out what to do for his care.

Best care I have ever had. Thank you for all that cared for me.

Amy clearly communicates her diagnosis and a plan that address your health concerns in a professional, yet friendly manner. I highly recommend Amy Pabawena for any of your medical needs.

My mom was just there and passed away. The staff brought us snacks, drinks, even food. They were kind and compassionate towards everyone. They never complained or got upset as a rather large family seemed to take over. Your facility and staff truly made our last few days with my mom enjoyable. Thank you for everything.

I live in SLC, but I don't know of a better local health care provider. Excellent staff, a beautiful facility, compassionate care - they take such wonderful care of my mom, who has required a lot of care over the years. It's a well-run organization and they put the patient first.

Our organization worked with the FCMC team to take care of our Covid vacinnes. Roxanne Beutler worked tirelessly to keep us in the loop and see our group appointment to the finish. Lacey Fellows kept us well apprised of the process and details of the shot. Pat Bowles took care of the admin the minute we walked into the facility. The whole team orchestrated a great experience.

I've had planned and unplanned visits and every time we are soooo well taken care of! I especially love the focus they put on my kids while I'm there! the treat cart is THE BEST!!

I have taken 3 of my pets here for 3 different things and have had an amazing experience every time. They are friendly, compassionate, experienced and love what they do! Highly recommended and will definitely be going back!

Great doctors, and nurses, friendly and they try hard to get you taken care of. It's like one big family, always smiling and happy.

This place has made some amazing improvements and renovations over the last few years. I would definitely recommend this hospital over larger ones in the area.

Love the staff, they were awesome with my daughter who had never had blood drawn before.
