I don’t why this place gets so many bad reviews. I waited 4 years and 3 visits later to finally leave a 5 star review to make sure my first visit wasn’t out of the norm. The wait is not as bad and the reviews say. The staff was extremely nice all three times. The wait room could be a little cleaner but there are constantly people in and out leaving trash behind like it’s the nurses job to come and clean up after each patron. The doctors and nurses are great

My father in law came with an infection having CLL and he got in triage very soon then although they took a little long in the ER for a room this hospital practically saved his life! He spent almost two weeks and nurses and doctors were great to him! We praise God for this hospital. Thank you Doctors and Nurses for your work and service.

I was admitted in August 2023 after contracting C. Diff that turned into sepsis and nearly killed me. The nurses in the MICU ward were competent, caring and professional. My nurse was one of four sisters who work in ICU and she was nothing less than life changing.
I would hate for anyone to end up in hospital but you cant do better than the ICU in Lynchburg

This hospital saved my dad's life! It took a little bit to get a room in the ER but once admitted he got the best care from doctors, PA's, and nurses! Everyday all of them were on top of everything from wound cleaning to treating sepsis and CLL. We're so grateful for their job. Thank you so much for saving his life. God bless you.

I was transferred to the Surgical Unit from the Gretna Medical Center for an emergency Appendectomy. My surgeon was Dr. Brian Charnock. I could never think this man enough. Not only did he save my life, he was very kind and patient with me, answering any questions I had and taking the time to help ease my anxiety. The Surgical Unit it’s self was immaculately clean and comfortable, and I was cared for my the best nurses. To the RN’s that cared for me, thank you for being so kind, compassionate, and accommodating. At other healthcare facilities in the past I haven’t always been treated fair and in an unbiased way, mainly due to my physical appearance. But the entire team that cared for me through this experience were all kind, genuinely cares for my wellbeing, and did everything they could to provide me the best care possible. In my opinion, You all are the gold standard of what healthcare should be. Thank you.

The surgical team and Dr. McCrary were excellent! It was a great experience checking in, getting the procedure done, and aftercare.
Nurses were friendly and did respond as fast as they could.

I experienced excellent care in cardiac emergency on February 23rd when I was brought in by ambulance for a serious A Fib attach. Doctor's, nurses and all staff were with me all the way and the care and concern was absolutely great all the way through. Medication got my heart rate back and I was kept overnight for observation and released the next day. I am very grateful to each one to contributed to my excellent care. I would recommend Lynchburg General to anyone as a top of the line facility

After my 3 year old daughter was transported here due to respiratory failure from pneumonia and asthma, the pediatrics department welcomed us warmly and promptly with care and top notch service. I wish I knew the names of every nurse and DR that was there when we first arrived, because they were absolutely incredible. We have been to 4 different hospitals (pediatrics departments) and NONE came close to giving my family the satisfaction, answers, support, and confirmation that this hospital gave. For every future need my children may have, this will be the hospital of choice. We were here 3 nights and every minute of the stay was amazing. I am still blown away by the services we had received and will continue to support this hospitals pediatrics department, thank you!

I had the absolute privilege to be taken here in an ambulance for a suddenly badly damaged disc in my lower back. I arrived unable to do anything but lay. The ER staff was quick to act, I got my MRI really quickly. The team in imaging explained everything to me, made me extremely comfortable, and gave me a relaxing sound bath.

Back in the ER I got my results quickly and the Dr Robertson came to the ER to explain how badly damaged the disc was and what to expect during the surgery. He asked about my pain level, made me comfortable and was really good with my 9yo. He continued to be a sweet blessing my entire stay. They got me admitted for surgery in just a few hours. I was made very comfortable while I waited. They listened to me about medication concerns and gave me alternatives instead. It was the most pleasant ER experience I have had, even though I was in the worst pain of my life. It made my unmedicated home births look like a day at the beach! The pain was lessened by their dedication and kindness, along with their quick action.

When I went into my room on the surgical floor I was treated like a queen! The PAs, RNs, LPNs, and CNAs were some of the kindest, most compassionate people in healthcare I have encountered. When I did have an issue with one employee due to my PTSD(not on the surgical floor) they acted immediately to make me comfortable and apologized. The staff always responded to my call light within minutes even though they had a full floor of patients.
The phlebotomy team had students with a trainer come in to take my blood. The students did so well I didn't feel a thing.
They got me into surgery the very next day. The surgery team was brilliant! Dr.Bond and his team saved me, gave me back my quality of life, and I will be able to walk again. They gave me a miracle.

I can't express how thankful I am for each and every team member I encountered. They made what could have been a terrifying situation into a pleasant one. A mini vacation where I was waited on hand and foot. I will always come back to this hospital from now on. THANK YOU!

My daughter goes to college In the area and had to have emergency surgery. All the nurses went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable and the doctors were great. I dont understand all the previous negative reviews. We would definitely use this hospital again.

I had spinal surgery over the summer and have nothing but wonderful things to say about the entire staff on the ortho wing.
The nurses were caring, polite and took such amazing care of me. I had a rather rough time of the surgery and ended up with pneumonia. The hospital doctors were phenomenal and I received the absolute best care.
Taking care of sick, injured or recovering people is a hard job and everyone at Lynchburg General made it look easy.
I am truly thankful I was in such capable and tender hands. Thank you ortho staff, I am so glad I had you there to care for me when I really needed it.

My grandson was a pediatric patient recently. The staff was great on the second floor and the Emergency department. It was a scary time and the family was made to feel calm.

I had two procedures done last week at Lynchburg General. I had read reviews before having it done and was concerned about bad reviews but after my experience I cant believe there were that many bad reviews! Everyone was very kind and took care of me, from walking in the door to the person getting me where I needed to go , sign in person, nurse Jodi that got me ready for my procedure, nurse anesthetist, all the nurses before procedure and the nurses and doctors during the procedures. Nurses in the recovery were great! I moved to Virginia from Ohio and I can tell you I have never had such a great hospital experience as this one. What a lot of kind, caring group of nurses and doctors! Thank you! You were wonderful!

By far the best hospital I’ve ever been too!!! When I walked in the ER they asked my name and address, took my temperature and blood pressure and was back in a room immediately. And a DR was in the room less than 10 minutes later. All the nurses and other staff were great. And the DR was amazing. I was kinda embarrassed for what I went for but they all made me totally comfortable! I live in Chatham and will always make the drive to come here if I ever need a hospital again! :)

January 9, 2021 I I thought I had Covid. Went for tests for that at the walk in clinic and they sent me to lab at LGH to get a test done just in case. The lab was dark, and I found a physician walking by who helped me. Took about an hour to get the blood drawn to check my heart enzymes, and another hour to get the results while I waited. An orderly escorted me from the lab to the ER saying I'd had a heart attack, not Covid. From that moment on, I was well taken care of by everyone in the ER. Exceptional care, especially on the part of Dr. Feldman. Kudos to him and his efforts to keep me informed on what was going on. That night, I was admitted to the Cardiac ward which had a very nice private room. Every single floor nurse, plebotomist, etc. were simply fantastic and caring. Then a fleet of doctors came in on Sunday morning (literally 4-5 different ones) with questions, answers, suggestions, and finally diagnosis. Again, every one of them were stellar in my view. We determined it best to have a catheterization done, which was Sunday afternoon, and that team was also wonderful. We found 100% blockage in my left artery which was expanded and a stent put in. The follow up that afternoon, evening and the next morning by the nurses and doctors again was impressive. I simply cannot speak well enough of the entire staff who helped me in the ER and cardiac unit. Top notch - especially Dr. Higgey who continues to follow up on my progress and spends the time listening and explaining things. I would not hesitate to tell people to go to LGH based on my experience thus far.

The nurses here are first rate! I had to stay an extra day for additional surgery and my care was wonderful! If you need a vascular procedure, this is the best place.

We are brand new to Lynchburg so when we had to take both our babies to the ER in an unfamiliar place we were terrified. What a blessing we came here because we received amazing and quick care! Our nurse Emilia and attending PA Mindy were so encouraging and provided excellent care. We are so thankful that these two professionals were incredibly knowledgeable and have the best bedside manner.
