Charcoal Inn South

First time for husband as we were passing through town. Ordered the traditional double brat sandwich. Yum, yum, yum. Friendly staff, polite and answered all the questions my hubs had about the place.

This place is just wonderful. It's very much a family hole-in-the-wall old fashioned place; if you're looking for something fancy go somewhere else. But the food is just so amazingly good. They have wonderful soup and the Friday night fish fry is fantastic. I got fresh perch with shrimp in December and the perch was as good as if I just caught it. And they make their own sauces. Definitely worth the trip.

Must stop when in Sheboygan. The steak sandwich is a great choice. Very friendly cooks and staff.

I've been going here since I was 5 years old in 1986. My grandparents owned Fredrick's bakery just up the road on 8th street. Nothing better than a steak sandwich on a hard roll and an order of onion rings. 5 star review for all the years of great food, but I unfortunately had a bad meal tonight for the first time in many years; not sure what happened here. Hard roll seemed to be a few days old, and the onion rings felt and tasted like they had been sitting around for an hour. First time in a very long time that I can remember having a bad meal. New cook? I don't know. If Scott or Roger happens to read this, I hope you can address it quickly. Thanks.

Oh Dear! They make THEE best cheeseburger I've ever had. Period!

It is, by no means, health food, but who cares? I was recently in Memphis, TN, and had a wonderful BBQ sandwich at a great place. Enjoyed it thoroughly, but when it was gone, I thought, "I'd have been happier with a Charcoal Inn burger."

And they make real malts, too. Not "shakes." If you like a great burgers, with real cheddar, not "pasteurized process cheese food," this is the place. There are two in Sheboygan - south side and north. I've only been to the north side once, but it was every bit as good. I mean, same owner and maybe 3 miles apart, how different could it be?

Small time diner feel. Nothing fancy. Food was excellent and very quick. Great place to stop if your in a hurry or sit and take your time read the paper(or your phone) and relax. Good prices . Friendly people staff and customers.

This is my Favorite Restaurant since I've been a kid. Best Charcoal Grilled Burgers and Dinners here. Just Love Charcoal Inn,, there's also 1 on the North Side of Town.

I have been going here since I was able to hold a burger in my hands, my grandpa always treated me to some charcoal inn!! Love this place, can’t beat the fresh cheddar cheese on a hard roll burger!

The food was absolutely delicious! Great prices, and quick service. I had the Charcoal Inn Burger (hamburger and brat), it was sooo good. Stop in and give it a try if you're in the area, you won't regret it!

Been going to this place since I was little lived right through the alley , best steak sandwiches and cheese fries and malts in town for sure , 3 generations of my family have been loyal customers for well over 30 yrs

The payment method is a little inconvenient, and they seem to never be open when I want them (which to be fair to them, is usually 12pm at night), but the food is amazing. As far as local, in town places to get a greasy burger, theirs is the best.

This place reminded me of Bud Willman's in Manitowoc! Absolutely delicious and fresh food. Amazing service. Family friendly. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be returning!

Excellent diner fare. My family was staying at the Blue Harbor Resort and this wonderful little diner was just down the street. Supper was so good we came back for an excellent breakfast as well.

Stopped by while on vacation. Food network had something on this place, so we decided to try it. We had the burger/ brat sandwich. Fabulous!! Excellent service, very fair prices.

We drive from Chicago regularly just for the steak sandwiches! Family favorite!

The Charcoal Inn South provides an excellent small town diner feel. Their food is prepared on a charcoal grill, leaving that very specific taste in the food that they cook. It is a rather tiny establishment, but the workers care about providing a quality dining experience. As others have mentioned, the tartes are an excellent dessert choice.

Be aware, however, that this establishment does NOT take credit or debit. If you find yourself needing cash, there is an ATM in the back. Still, save yourself the fee and come prepared.

Cozy diner atmosphere. Nice menu with daily home-cooked specials. Homemade Tortes that look delicious. Friendly chefs and waitresses.
