This was a regular picnic park as I was growing up. Haven't been there in years. Never went in November. The winds off the lake were brisk and chilly. The dunes and grasses along the beach are unique. Much of the lake view path is on corded planks for easier walking than loose sand. The information facilities were closed for the season. We also checked out the campgrounds, which looked well spaced, level and, of course, leaf covered.
Finally, we drove up to the forest trails. A wide mowed path through woods and Prarie grasses. Even with a map, the intersections were a bit confusing. Trail could have been marked better.

Sheer beauty of Lake Michigan, with sand dunes, beautiful wooden walking paths, and we even saw a white tail deer about 20 yards away! Wisconsin is a blessed state to have this lake that is really like being at the ocean!

I had a great experience tent camping. I walked some trails and checked out my fellow campers--see their setups. The restrooms are clean, some have flush toilets and showers. I noticed a laundry room and that the park sells ice and other items. It is a lovely and varied park with much to offer both families and single persons.

What a beautiful park! I have limited mobility and use a wheelchair. I really appreciated the wheelchair accessible trails at this park. And the wheelchair accessible cabin is amazing! They thought of everything! The bathroom has a roll in shower with a bath bench. There is also a shower wheelchair available if needed. The bathroom sink is a good height and there is room underneath. Bonus points for the handle to turn the water on being placed at the front of the counter so it is easy to reach. Also, the soap dispenser is at the front of the counter.
The kitchen has a section of counter that is lowered for ease of use from the chair. There is a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, and coffee maker.
The living space has a lift chair, a couch with pullout bed and a wide chair with pull out bed. The bedroom has two power hospital beds. A lift is available if needed. There is also a cot available if needed and a commode chair. There is a nice "porch" room with lots of windows and a bird feeder right outside. There is electricity with plenty of outlets, air conditioning and heat. Outside there is a nice patio with benches. There is also a grill, campfire ring and picnic table. One of the wheelchair accessible trails is right next to the cabin. And, there is a beach wheelchair as well.

Kohler-Andrae is an amazing WI State Park along the banks of Lake Michigan. On a beautiful fall day, it is nearly heaven on earth. Later in the afternoon with the crowds gone home the beach is quiet with nothing but the sounds of the crashing waves. Take a moment and visit this captivating State Park.

I camped here at the end of February and really enjoyed it. The bathrooms and campground were very clean. The dunes are a site to see.

Beautiful park and lovely campground! There is so much nature and wildlife to see here. The beach is gorgeous, as are the hiking trails and cordwalks. Staff are very helpful, as are the the people in the nature center. Bathrooms and sites were very clean. Highly recommend!

A must go to park when in Wisconsin. Visit the Natural Center to learn interesting facts about a second floor view of the long beach. We were lucky enough to find out the were having a lantern walk at night event and this was amazing as my husband and I are celebrating out anniversary, this just made it extra special. There is camping available as well. The park closes at 11PM and no lifeguards.

Love this state park! The office staff are always really nice and the park is really well kept. Always super super clean, including the bathrooms! Love that they are dog friendly too, even on the beach.

Loved this place! Clean beach (tho algae was pretty bad that day). It was great to be able to take kids And dog. The dog area is in area 2 so set away from other beach areas of the park. The parking was a little small so if full you may have to walk a bit. There was a great spot to sit and grill out in shade before you got to beach, but some ppl also grilling on beach. In area 2, the bathroom was clean but it is an outhouse so no running water. There was a water fountain with dog bowl part at the bottom - not the best tasting so bring your own. The rest of the park had grilling spots as well- but pack your patience. We went on a Saturday in July. Parking is hard to find in many areas since ppl everywhere but area 8 seemed pretty open but also very end before having to turn around. Area 8 had open grass areas. There was even a volleyball area. We didn't see beach access from this area so you could park and walk a bit to access from other sections. Based on map we thought enormous park with each section spread far apart but it really wasnt. I think it took about 15-20 min to get to very end driving super slow. Wildlife does cross road - we had to wait while a turtle crossed. There were dogs in other areas of park but all leashed. Most were leashed in dog area as well, and the ones that weren't seemed well behaved. If looking for a someplace to hang out for the day that is fairly cheap then this is it. I would recommend you buy Wisconsin State Park pass ahead of time if you could - because the line for the day pass was very long. We are definitely coming back so we can explore the rest of the park.

I love this place so much. The beach is amazing! The spaces are semi tucked away and hidden so it feels spacious. The bathrooms are immaculate.

What a nice walk by the beach. Still a bit of snow in the sand and it's almost April. But I am jealous of my Sheboygan friends to be able to come here and walk even at the end of a Wisconsin winter. The gulls, the lapping of little boats along piers. The lighthouse. The shells and polished glass, and driftwood. Summers must be great to swim here. The kite surfers. I could just spend a day sitting by Lake Michigan doing nothing. Beautiful waters up here.

You will be captured by the park's natural beauty. From the boardwalk trail that takes you to the beach area, to the tall grass that lines the edges of its beautiful sandy driftwood beaches.

A very nice park to visit. I really don't like the park stickers you have to put on your windshield. They are very hard to get off. Some people have ten of the older stickers still on the windshield and that is a hazard as it blocks vision. A license plate decal would do the truck for instate. Out of state windshield decals would stay the same.

My youngest son married his bride at the theater and their reception was at the cabin. There was a full moon that night and the waves were wild. Awesome rustic place to hold a wedding.

Campsite review: overall beautiful and lovely and I would go back. We had site 212 which is one of the newer sites far away from the park office.

Pros- Quiet, lots of trees, within walking distance of showers and the beach.

Cons- no electricity or water at these back sites (you can fill water jugs close-by) or trash receptacles anywhere close. The raccoons are absolutely doing their racooning thing out here. You have to lock up all food in your car at night and you have to take trash away from your site or you’ll hear raccoons tearing into it all night, which is the biggest problem we had. There is only one trash receptacle site which is at the entrance of the campground but since we were all the way in the back, we had to drive about 20 mins round-trip to take our trash each night, because the road through camp is one-way and very winding. You can only go about 5-10 mph. Also, these back sites are dirt only, and it did rain one day so there was a lot of mud.
Other than that, the beach and trails were amazing and worth this hassle.

Beautiful park! We took our two year older daughter here for her birthday and she had a blast. We only went for a small hike, but it was enough for me to go online and find a campsite at a future date. Awesome trails, awesome nature center, awesome beach! Can't for an extended stay where I can explore this park more.

Several trails for hiking in woods or on the dunes. The campsite was clean and private. I will definitely be back with friends and family for the cord walks and the clean soft Sandy beaches. The nature center and the park staff were friendly and informative.

Great, sandy beach. Amazing waves on windy days. Lot 2 and 3 are dog friendly (lot 3 has a lot more parking). There are indoor bathrooms at the survey building on lot 3. If you're going to bring your furry friend, just be careful, as some people let their dogs off leash, and they don't have great recall.

This is a beautiful state park right on Lake Michigan. It has boardwalk hiking options over sand dunes or through a marsh. There’s camping options from class A through tent campers. Some spots are alongside the road whereas others are in the wooded areas. Beautiful sunsets & tons of cranes. It was very peaceful when we went.
