Trattoria Stefano

Almost 6 years ago my now husband and our good friend visited Stefano. To this day it was THE best dining experiences we ever had. We were young, intoxicated, and honestly had no business being in such a fine establishment, but regardless the wait staff treated us with the utmost respect. What I’d give to remember the waiter’s name in order to give him the recognition he deserves. His knowledge of the food and wine would impress even the most seasoned fine dining connoisseur. Unfortunately I can’t recommend anything I ate because the menu has changed and I barely remember the night. However, I do remember devouring everything on a charcuterie board. 5 stars! 😘🤌🏽

Romantic, lovely atmosphere with delectable food and impeccable service. My husband and I stayed in Kohler but drove over to Sheboygan for dinner at Trattoria Stefano due to its high rankings, and we were not disappointed. After a round of two different types of bread (both delicious) dipped in olive oil, we ordered the salad special of the night, which we agreed was the best part of our meal: fresh arugula with a very light lemony dressing, paired with thin strips of prosciutto, melt-in-your-mouth fresh mozzarella, blueberries, figs, and a balsamic drizzle. Our waiter Antonio was very knowledgeable about the entire menu and made great recommendations, including the afore-mentioned salad and a glass of wine (one red, one white) for each of us. We decided to try the meatball appetizer, which was good but not anything astounding--the sauce was the best part. For our main courses, I had the homemade pear ravioli in the brown butter sauce and my husband ordered the osso bucco. Both dishes were amazing! The semi-sweet ravioli was complemented and perfectly balanced by the salty brown-butter sauce. The osso bucco plate was gorgeous--as you can see by my photo--and the flavor pairings were memorably tasty. We almost always order dessert, but this time we couldn't because the portions were so generous and we were so happily full! The prices were quite reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we received. We agreed we'd return again!

One of the best Italian options in the Midwest. Amazing, authentic food. Fresh ingredients prepared in simple and often quite interesting ways is the key. Much of the pasta is made in house.

The wait staff is welcoming, fun and very knowledgeable. You would expect a place like this in a larger, urban environment. Not to be missed any time you're in or near Sheboygan. Absolutely worth the drive!

Fantastic food and ambience - so happy we finally paid a visit. The Gorgonzola ravioli dish incredible and so is the pistachio cheesecake. Loved it! We will be back!

Amazing. This restaurant is a real Italian restaurant! All of the food tasted a lot better than my expectations. Tiramisu there is 28 years also recipe. The best tiramisu ever. The hospitality was so good. We are coming back soon!!

Nice Italian restaurant in downtown. You need reservations. We didn't have reservations and ate at the bar. The bartenders were very nice and made some excellent suggestions. I ended up ordering the fish of the day which was halibut. It was amazing.

Honestly.. as restaurants go this is almost as good as it gets. We were in Sheboygan today to visit the two Kohler museums (which were great, but I liked the new one a bit better, more content). Decided to give this place a try since the reviews were more than good.

So.. For a restaurant I always look at things like bread. Oh my lord, bread brought out was fantastic. Crusty, delicious, fresh. All restaurants should serve good bread. Reminds me of great restaurant in Europe because of the bread.

We had the meatball appetizer. I will say the meatballs were just a tiny bit dry, but the sauce more than made up for it.

I had the special of the day, Porchetta (Called Porketta in Northern MN). To die for... The crispy outside... and super flavor and sauce. It's not quite as spicey as the northern MN porketta, but full of flavor. I wanted to eat it all, but could not. Very generous serving portion.

My wife had the Casarecce Della Nonna which was very delicious.

Our server, August was amazing. Timed the dishes out to a T and always knew when to stop by to see if we needed anything.

I will say.. it's not cheap. Prices are more on par with Chicago or Minneapolis, but the quality of the food and service exceeded what I've had in Minneapolis or Chicago.

We will go back again. Sorry.. started to eat the Porchetta before I took a photo. But..

Absolutely delicious with every choice. From aperitif to digestive, T.S. Has everything covered. No detail is spared, everything is very authentic. The cocktails are enough to visit, but a meal here makes you leave so happy. Visited 7 years ago and this was our second time back. Will go back as many times as we visit Sheboygan!

The food was incredible! The service was outstanding. They seated 10 of us. The servers were extremely knowledgeable, able to explain how their specialty wines are made and all the ingredients in their complicated special dishes. We had a fabulous experience!

I stopped at this amazing restaurant for the first time last week, but it won’t be my last! The food was incredible, and the service was top-notch! We ordered the bruschetta for the table (pictured), and the rest of us ordered different pastas. We all left very satisfied! Can’t recommend enough!

This is one of our favorite spots to go to in Sheboygan! They make ask they pasta fresh from scratch and always have amazing food. We have a member of our family with celiac disease and they always know how to support our needs very well. Also, the server August is the best we've had anywhere! He's a great guy, very knowledgeable, and super personable!

This transported me back to Roma!
Brandon recommended the chef’s special- it was marvelous- a chicken ragù with fresh pasta. When I see fresh sepia or cuttlefish on the menu, chances are I’ll order it-this was amazing. Glad I had the bread (you have to try the bread) because I was soaking up the sauce after every bite! The tiramisu was rich. Oh yes- order the cappuccino.

Make sure to reserve ahead.

The food is great. You can tell that the food was made in house and from scratch. I had the veal and it was cooked perfect.

The environment was a bit crowded but not a major issue. The staff seemed to all know each other well and were very friendly.

Early birthday dinner! Great way to celebrate! Lobster arancini as a starter, tasty winter salad with blood oranges, hazelnuts and pomegranate arals, Calabrian rubbed half chicken, sautéed kale and potato purée. Limoncello tiramisu and a lovely Taurasi wine. Thank you August and John and Cassie♥

Best. Italian. Food. In. Town. PERIOD!! High quality ingredients, generous portions, knowledgeable and warm staff, creative cocktails, and literally my favorite place to eat in the United States.

AMAZING!!! Simply put one of the best restaurants you can enjoy in the midwest. The love of cooking is glowing here. The amazing staff that has been there for 10+ years is unheard of in the food business. The creative dishes responsibly sourced is incredible. Not to be left out is a restaurant celebrating 25 years of serving the public and becoming an anchor in a struggling downtown. Nothing but the highest praise for this landmark. I highly suggest listening to the specials they are mind blowing.

Outstanding meal, we started with the Seppie alla Plancha. Then shared the Rustica salad. My wife had the Casarecce Della Nonna. I had the Ravioli al Gorgonzola e Cipolla with the two house made sausages: wild boar with mushroom and lamb Barese. We finished off with the Tiramisu. Service was great and the atmosphere was great as well. Expect a healthy bill but the meal was well worth it.

Lovely evening with great food and attention! Superb menu with specialty products. Great history and connection to Italy… felt at home with the manager’s attention in my own language 🤩👍🏼 well done and congrats 🙌🏼

An absolute amazing meal and experience! We celebrated our anniversary here and not being from the area we weren’t sure what to expect. Not only was the food out of this world but our server, Antonio, made the experience so enjoyable and in a way I haven’t experienced in ages. He knows his stuff and took the meal to the next level. A must!
