We needed to cancel my wife's contribution to her HSA because she turned 65. The person on the phone was very helpful and stayed on the phone over 20 minutes to walk me through the process on my computer.

I would highly recommend HSA Bank to anyone! They have so much to offer, check it out! You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely brutal, customer-hostile call system. Beyond painful to deal with over the phone. Just an endless call tree spouting time wasting useless information.

Edit: I'm grudgingly adding one star. Because when I finally reached a customer service representative they were very polite and helpful.

This company is AWFUL. I did not have a choice to use them, I was set-up automatically with them through an HSA with my old employer.

I have now spent 3 straight days trying to get problems solved. Every "agent" just hangs up on me. I am being polite and asking a simple question: my debit card is not working, I would like to either get a new PIN, get reimbursed for my purchase I had to make on a personal card, or close the account.

The customer service is HORRIBLE. I always give good reviews and give people the benefit of the doubt, but this company is one of the worst I have ever dealt with.

i would give zero star if that was option. Their process for reimbursing myself for healthcare expenses is absolutely flawed. Their system does not allow users to attach receipts to our expenses WHEN WE FILE THE REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT! All the other HSA providers (Optum Bank, HealthEquity, etc.) do NOT have this issue! It is difficult to believe that HSA Bank does not enable this fundamental accounting practice for their users. I will be leaving as soon as possible.

I would recommend choosing another provider for your HSA account. They have monthly fees for simply having an account open (and not investing anything), additional fees if you want to invest, and a $25 fee just to close your account. There are much better options out there.

Under no circumstances should anyone use this company for a health saving account.  After six weeks I was still unable to use my account even though money was regularly deposited into the account.  Upon trying to close the account because of all the unnecessary red tape and hoops to jump through I was charged $25 for an account that was never activated.  This is called a scam.  I do not appreciate the wasting of my time.  Highly unethical.

HSA Bank is a terrible custodian for hsa accounts

Requires $1000 minimum before investing.
Pays very little interest on the $1000
Requires liquidating all TDA holdings for a cash transfer.
Repeated (10+)failures of cash transfers via FAX
Fidelity gets receipt of successful fax , but HSA Bank responds with "no fax received"
Use Fidelity or any other custodian!

As someone who works in benefits administration, I can say that as a customer, your services are trash!

1) I haven't gotten my HSA card in more than 5 weeks!

2) my first batch of funds were more than a week late my account.

3) I had validate my self when I called in, only to have be validated again when I spoke to agent because "your system was down."

Let me ask, if you not good at get funds in people's accounts, not good at getting cards out timely, and your call center makes people validate themselves twice, what is it that you proficient at???

High fees $3 month and $25 to close account. My money is in investment account and I don't use hsabank, yet they still charge me $3 month, so figure I would close, but to close you have to liquidate investment and pay $25 to close. Ripoff for the value.

As custodian of my HSA brokerage account managed by TD Ameritrade, HSA Bank's incompetence, lack of understanding and refusal to pursue readily available solutions relating to the conversion of Russian DRs is a matter of institutional malfeasance. Although my legal team worked with TD Ameritrade to pursue a course of action that complied with OFAC for the standard conversion of Russian DRs, a course of action which every other thoughtful U.S. broker is currently facilitating for their clients, HSA Bank refused to authorize the conversions and is going to allow tens of thousands of dollars worth of Russian DRs in my account to expire as worthless. By the time HSA Bank receives the updated counsel that the conversions are in the best interests of their clients and perfectly legal, it will likely be too late for clients like me to convert before the expiration of the OFAC license. Law firms pursuing class action lawsuits for malfeasance around brokerage custodians' errors in handling Russian DR conversion are welcome to reach out to me.

It's as bad as everyone else says it is. The customer service is a joke and they will not have any answers as well as give conflicting information before hanging up on you. Worst part is that it's not actually a saving account, they offer .01% interest but charge you monthly service fees for letting them hold your money. But wait if you choose to let your balance grow to 5k or more you get an outstanding. 05% interest rate. Complete insanity and no way to save anything plus your health decreases each time you have to call in for all the problems you will encounter.

Horrible company to have to deal with. Seems to be on the verge of a scam. Wallet was stolen and HSA card used for over $400. Have been trying to deal with the transaction dispute process and have gotten nowhere over the last three months with weekly discussions with customer service. Have done everything properly and filled out the form to "fax" in. Apparently fax is the only method available for contact regarding this. No phone numbers, no emails, no contact whatsoever with the card processing division. The customer service people also have no way to relay or obtain information on the status of anything. The fax number given on the form is a dead number, tried three different, known working fax machines. Finally after two months of trying, waiting, numerous discussions with customer service, the last one finally tells me yeah, that fax number on the form doesn't work. So with no working fax number, no phone numbers to talk to anyone, and no emails to submit the form. This sounds like fraudulent business in that there is absolutely no way to rectify this situation, and they know this in hopes people will just give up the effort to recuperate their money.

I can't sign into my account, because the verification email doesn't get sent. I've been on the phone with them almost an hour. Incompetent agent, incompetent company. Agent says everything good on his end. REALLY, then why don't I get the verification email. USELESS!!!!!

For some reason, my employer made the switch from our old HSA account to HSA Bank. The transition was NOT smooth. I had to make multiple attempts just to set up online access to my account. Also, distributions are not made in a timely manner. It takes DAYS for scheduled contributions to show up in my account. This means I have to make most of my medical payments out of pocket and request reimbursement from my HSA account at a later date. Last week, I made six requests for reimbursement. Only five transactions went through even though they were all immediately deducted from my HSA and marked as Paid. $119 was NOT paid and never deposited into my checking account. It was never put back into my HSA account either. Basically, $119 of my money is missing. They do not respond to my emails. I cannot trust these people with my money. I would do anything to take my business elsewhere, but I do not have a choice.

i will give them zero star if i could. i had a HSA account for years. about a year ago they started charging me layers of fees such as account maintenance fee, low account fee etc. HSA bank pays minimal interest in their account. if you call HSA bank there is minimum of 30 to 45 minutes wait before someone picks up.
i got fed up and wanted to transfer my HSA account to fidelity and they took about 8 weeks to transfer funds. during this time i could not use their debit card and i did not have funds in fidelity. i am over 65 years age and dependent on my HSA funds. i pleaded HSA bank to expedite but they do NOT CARE. i will contact my congressman to lodge complaint against HSA bank for taking this long for transfer and not letting me avail my own money for this long.

What a joke of a bank and investment firm.

They're willing to throw away tens of thousands of dollars of investment in their bank just for $2.00 a month fee.

I know most people don't have a choice, but employers, please don't choose this provider for your HSA.
