This place is perched on top of a higher slope in the modest town of Greeneville, TN. Even though, it has an amazing view of the surrounding area. The centerpiece of this National Park parcel, is the burial memorial for our Beloved Past President of the United States - Andrew Johnson. His loving wife installed an amazing arch to compliment the original tombstone and to illustrate her love for him. It's uncommon.
Regardless of your political opinions, it is legendary. And though statues of US history are no longer "in style" with current opinion leaders and mass media, this memorial is stunning and relevant. The tombstones surrounding it are made of marble and are engraved appropriately. I'm proud of my country's history and this is proof of our freedom. It's worth a visit and respect for our country's history.

Andrew Johnson Visitor Center provided a wealth of information and artifacts surrounding Andrew Johnson. One of the highlights is the original Tailor Shop, which Andrew used. Very well preserved and awesome to gaze upon. It's highly recommended.

The caretakers here do an amazing job. The woman at the information desk was helpful and informative. The displays are wonderful and so well preserved. The Taylor shop was incredible... to put it inside the building and display it the way they have was such a wondrous sight to see. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area and we will be going back.

Great park. A lot of history here. Nice Visitor Center. They have a film you can watch, it lasts about 15-20 minutes. The view is very nice from the cemetery.

It was wonderful. The staff was welcoming! The theatre film was informative. The whole experience showing the reproduced original house, the Taylor shop and the later house that Johnson and family lived was great to see. The story of his life from where he came from to what he became can be an Inspiration to others! Very worth seeing!

Beautiful cemetery with lots of historic locations all around town! I definitely recommend seeing Andrew Johnson’s tomb and just soaking up the views from up top! Not a lot of parking but it doesn’t look like it gets that full during the day!

Visited here as a kick off to our homeschool year.. we had the best time! The Park Ranger inside was amazing. We were given a learning packet to go around and complete. My son got sworn in as a Junior Park Ranger upon completion. He then received lots of awesome goodies with that!

The grounds itself are well maintained. It’s exciting to be able to walk through the homestead. The novelties inside are very interesting. You definitely learn a lot about our 17th President. We were shown a short film (that managed to keep a 7yr olds attention)… all around a very fun & informational outing.

The staff at this site is excellent. Nuanced, but bluntly honest interpretation of a confounding man who came from nothing financially yet became a slaveholder, then gave the famous "Moses" speech declaring freedom to every enslaved person in Tennessee. Really knowledgeable staff at bookstore desk. Present impeachment process in fun interactive way that lets you cast your own vote. With impressively even interpretation of American slavery, sectional strife, and the impeachment process, this historic site is a must visit.

The Andrew Johnson National Park is a very nice place. The National Park Service does an excellent job providing information, taking care of the homes, gravesite, and museum. I was pleasantly surprised to learn so much in my short visit. I highly recommend as a stop when young children are learning about Presidents.

In general the historic part of Greeneville was wonderful. Andrew Johnson house where he grew up was next to the visitors center. It was closed due to Corid-19 but we still walked to his homestead a few blocks away. On the way back we passed another antebellum home. The historic downtown had several old buildings and a church built in 1780. A few blocks away was an old mansion that was very impressive. More to see here besides Andrew Johnson house and homestead.

I have been to visit Andrew Johnson National Historic Site twice before, have plans to visit again, and find it to be a very interesting and educational place to spend time as well. The property has Johnson's homes, a Visitor Center, a statue, and Tailor Shop as well as the nearby cemetery where the former President is buried with a large beautiful monument. It is easy walking around the site and exploring how Andrew Johnson made a huge difference during his Vice Presidency and then subsequently became President after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, one of my favorite Presidents. There is a movie about Johnson and a gift shop in the Visitor Center. The house is decorated by the National Park Service for various holidays and features special events for adults and children during said holiday occasions. The interactive activities and wonderful staff make the Historic Site a joy to visit on any given day. Highly recommended.

As soon as you enter, be sure to get a reservation for the 45 minute ranger led tour of Andrew Johnson’s last home. There are four given each day.

This museum is fairly small compared to some other presidential libraries / museums.
