Meli Cafe Pancake House & Restaurant

Stopped in this fine family breakfast/lunch restaurant this past April with my wife while my stepdaughter was taking her ACT test in town.

Not really from around here, we live down in Beach Park in between Wadsworth, Zion & Waukegan but were in the area so a good home-cooked breakfast came to mind while waiting around.

The dining area is very spacious and I like the fact that there's booths not just by the windows and walls but in the middle of the dining floor as well.

Extensive all-around good Greek/American menu with tasty food arriving in big portions at reasonable prices, service was friendly & attentive and venue was very clean.

If ever in the area again, I'd definitely stop in the Meli Cafe again which I'm sure is a Belle City favorite.

Lexus was our waitress. She was very attentive to us and provided excellent hospitality. We didn't have to ask for anything because she was on point providing a expeditious meal as requested. We enjoyed our meals. We will spread the word and return!

Been going for a while now, the place is great, any accidental issues I had in the past, like accidentally throwing my food out when I went to the bathroom, fixed right away with no issues. Very good food big portions. Highly recommend

Restaurant is very clean, staff nice and very accommodating, which is a bonus when dining alone.
I enjoyed an order of a 2 egg, hash browns with no toast, but with a side of bacon and an order of the 3 crepe breakfast.
It was very good and enough to take home for another meal!
I will definitely return, the next time I am in the area!

A great spot for breakfast! We were visiting from out of town and it was recommended by family members. They were extremely busy, but the wait was super short. It's like a well-oiled machine in there! Our server was efficient and friendly, and the food was delicious!

Great breakfast place! Server was very friendly, order was 100% accurate, and I was even given some little french toast balls as an appetizer when I was seated. I was seated immediately, no wait or call ahead. Only gripe was that it was pretty cold in the section I was in.

First time coming to Meli Café and the food was really good. The dining area is quite spacious. Friendly staff right when you walk in, to the serving staff and the nice ladies cleaning the tables. Come hungry, the portion sizes are huge. I would definitely recommend coming here. I would like to try other things on their menu.

The food is amazing. They get through tables quickly so if there is a huge line don't worry they will get you seated quickly. The host and maybe owner interacted with everyone as if he was a caring close friend. Everything about our experience was great. The food and service really has the bar set high.

When you are not looking you usually find a gem.

Everything we had there was delicious.. I would have to say, this is one of the better Cafes I've eaten in recently.

My veggie omelet with cheese and onions in the hash Browns was wonderful,

My wife had the combination platter with a little bit of everything on it, She really enjoyed her breakfast. Our server was a wonderful young lady with really long braids. The interior was very soothing, bathrooms were spotless!

If we are ever up in the area again we'll be stopping back through, it's a real pleasureful Cafe venue. Do yourself a favor, stop on in!

We did stop in again, the marinated skirt steak skillet! I asked them to put some pepper jack on it, wow! My wife just had soup and salad, the strawberry salad was amazing, and the lemon drop soup was very good. 7/18/2022

One of my employees suggested this place. Turned out to be a good suggestion. Didn't take long to be seated during a very busy breakfast service. Server was prompt and we chose our breakfasts. Food was quick to come out. Their menu is varied and some good choices. You won't leave hungry, I assure you. Service would've been 5 stars but we had to wait a bit for a refill on coffee. That's not a negative, as the overall experience was good. We will be back next time we are in town.

The food was delicious and the waitress we had was attentive and friendly. Our one year old absolutely loved the corned beef hash she got to try. We don't come here often because the parking lot is always full but the portions you receive are well worth the price.

While perusing their menu, I got the feeling that Mel's would be just so-so. It looked like they were having an identity crisis among Mexican, Greek, and American brunch or bar. I'm always a bit wary of restaurants with such an extensive menu.

Well, I was pleasantly proved wrong!

I ordered the El Fuego Burger, cooked perfectly medium and stuffed with jalapeño peppers and other spicy stuff. I took out the buns (for keto) and just ate it like steak, with the onion and tomato that also came with the burger. I skipped the lettuce, which was oddly wilt-y, unless all the other fresh ingredients. The burger also came with a soup, and I chose the beef and rice. Again, this sounded odd, but I wasn't feeling the cream of broccoli or the chicken noodle. So surprised with the chili flavored goodness! (though I only had a bite or two for keto)

Hubby got the Greexican Omelet, with a mash of gyros meat and chorizo. It just sounded so odd that I wasn't even going to try it, until I did. He ended up having to give me half. (which we took home and I had the next day, as the portions were huge!) This also came with 2 pancakes bigger than my face. Wow!

Great breakfast/brunch/lunch spot! They have a great selection of skillets, waffles, french toast etc!
We were promptly seated, service was great, & the food came out fast, fresh, great plating...and did I mention DELICIOUS!!
I had the raspberry stuffed french toast. It wasn't overly sweet, greasy, or heavy. It was made with fresh raspberries!!
We'll definitely be back in the future.

The restaurant is very clean they very quickly to get you seat it and it was very busy day on the weekend and they just call my name soon I just got in the building and gave him my phone number. Very amazing. I will recommend people to go here. Very great customer service food was delicious and awesome. I never had a good breakfast restaurant too. I came here, so yeah, very fordable. I love it here and I would definitely be coming back.

Wow. Went on a Sunday morning and it was packed. We had to wait about ten minutes which wasn’t too bad. The order of complimentary Greek doughnuts were delicious. The portions at this place were unreal. I had 3 eggs, biscuits and gravy. The food was delicious and hot. Prices were totally reasonable. Breakfast for 2 was $22 and we skipped lunch because of the generous portions. We will be going back again.

We have gone twice, and despite being intimidated by the full parking lot, both times we were seated the moment we walked in.
The complimentary honey donuts they provide while you scan the menu are delightful - I wish I could buy them by the dozen.
I love their chilaquiles, and their specialty pancakes are absolutely amazing!
There's something for everyone here, and it's all tasty!!

Best Banana Foster waffle. Can't wait to try my take home Benedict with crab cakes instead of English muffins. I have eaten here many times and the food is consistantly great.
