There's usually a 30-40 minute wait at peak dinner time. We grabbed a couple of seats at the bar while we waited. We ordered Cajun onion rings and they were some of the best onion rings that we've had. They were so good that we ordered them as sides when we even eventually ordered our entrees.

After a half-hour wait, we were seated at our table. The service was prompt and we didn't wait too long before we received our entrees.

I ordered the deep fried Cajun fish and it had the same Cajun flavor as the onion rings. There was a bit too much of fried breading but the fish tasted fresh, flaky and delish. Wife ordered the double X burger but it was overcooked and not quite juicy.

Excellent! Highly recommend Hitchin’ Post Steakhouse. We were in town to hike Enchanted Rock. It was a Sunday evening about 5:00 so we weren’t expecting a huge wait, but there was an estimated 1.5 hour wait. That’s the only negative. It’s small inside. We went to the park about 4 blocks away to let the kids play since we could put our name on the list.

The food! So good!

Ordered the spicy cheese curds (these had a kick) and the garlic cheese curds (great for kids). I did a half and half order for $12.99.

Ordered the boneless wings with Honey Buffalo BBQ. The 8 pieces was enough for my two boys to share. They had a good kick to them. Perfect for my oldest, my middle child said just a little too much heat for him. I thought they were perfect.

I ordered the British Burger with onion rings subbed on the side. The onion rings were so good!! The burger well done was top notch and not dry at all.

My daughter got the kids chicken strips and fries. For $10, I’d like to see a kids drink included. But it is what it is.

I’d be back! Go early and get a spot in line. No reservations they told me.

(Awful photos because we ate everything so fast.)

I absolutely loved my dining experience at Hitchin' Post Steakhouse! The sirloin steak with mashed potatoes was simply divine. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, while the mash potato was creamy and flavorful. A truly exceptional meal that I would highly recommend to anyone. 5 stars!

Highly recommend making reservations. We didn't have any and put our name on the wait-list and waited about 40 minutes. We went shopping on Main Street and returned to wait in the indoor seating area for about 10 minutes before we received a text message that a table had opened up for us. I decided to go with the steak (medium well) and it was cooked to perfection! My two sides were green beans / mashed potatoes and mangoñada margarita; everything was excellent! Our server checked in with us often and was very friendly. I had a peach cobbler to go and found that it was very good too! Will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area.

Tremendous value and good service. I had the chicken fried steak deluxe with white gravy on the side and two sides for $22. It was more than enough to feed two people so my wife and I shared it and amazing meal and value. A friend of mine had the tenderloin cubes appetizer, and it was enough for a lunch, so that was all he ordered. They were outstanding.

Got on the wait list at 5p and was seat at 5:45p so not bad for prime tourist spot and totally worth the wait cuz everything was delicious!

Had the filet mignon (with green beans and baked potato), the outlaw ribeye (zucchini and squash) and BLT with fries. The green beans were so flavorful! We all agreed the filet mignon was the best.

The entire bill was around $110 so very affordable. The decor is of a small town restaurant/bar but the flavorful food totally compensates for the mediocre atmosphere. Definitely going back next visit!

We were looking for a place to eat off Main St. We saw the sign, and we decided to check it out. As soon as you walk in, the ambiance is good. We decided to check out their steaks. Our party got the tomahawk, New York strip, and 12oz Ribeye. They said it would be 30 minutes for the tomahawk, and we got the fried mushrooms while we waited. Those mushrooms were really good. Oh, the steaks! The tomahawk was only $70 and it was great, as well as the other steaks. It was a great culinary experience in the middle of Texas.

Tonya G was our server last night and she was great! We were craving a steak dinner on our first night in Fredericksburg and I’m glad we picked this place. It’s a half block off of Main Street and on a Friday night, we were glad they weren’t too busy and got sat right away. Tonya was friendly and attentive and made sure our drinks stayed topped off without having to ask which I really appreciate. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides were yummy. We also had the cow-lamari for our appetizer and it was delicious - the jalapeno ranch dressing was so tasty. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.

Me and my wife went here and read the reviews and wasn’t sure if we should get chicken fried steak. We both got the gourmet chicken fried steak and it was huge. We could have shared it. It was best chicken fried steak I ever had. The sides were amazing and big portions. We also order cheese curds oh my gosh they were amazing. Wish we lived closer I would go all the time. 5stars all the way.

Worth the trip!

Went here for a nice meal for our anniversary and found our whole experience top notch!

Our beverages stayed filled due to excellent customer service from a stellar waitress.

Our food came out quickly and we were happy to see the large portions and delicious food.

The mashed potatoes were dynamite! My husband and I kept trying to figure out why they were so good. Garlic? Cheese? Cream? They are skin on but they don’t taste it.

The cowboy steak (lip-on) was cooked exactly the way we ordered, and delicious to boot!

The MASSIVE chicken fried steak was impressive! The breading was light and flavorful, the steak pounded thin but had a lot of moisture.

The macaroni and cheese was not my favorite, a little too soft on the noodle and a bit bland in comparison to all the other flavors on the plate.

However the mixed veggies (zucchini, carrot and broccoli) were delicious! Seasoned well & cooked perfectly. A nice texture on the zucchini, and it was a good balance for all the heavy rich foods we had.

After thoughts-
I’d love to see more seafood on the menu- maybe an oyster poboy? Oysters on the half shell? I am excited to go back and try the barramundi!

All in all- great service, food and a fun Texan atmosphere.
We will definitely return!

My wife and I were unintentionally there over the October-fest. My wife had the Double X cheeseburger with fries, and I had a steak that was scrumptious. The fries were very good as well. I recommend going there for a evening out with the boys.

Amazing ribeye steaks!! Best I’ve had.
Onion rings, burgers, fries, sweat potato fries, all cooked to perfection! Tasted amazing.

Great service also. We came back two days in a row and Emily our server remembered us and even remembered our preferences! Amazing! We will be back next time we are in the area!

1/2# burgers made your way. Yes, I start with that because I love a good burger. Their bacon is thick. Lots of additions offered for toppings so you're bound to find what you're craving.

WI cheese curds. I'm from WI... Not bad! Served with ranch, just like up North.

Located just off Main Street on a side street. Can get busy at times. Will have live music. Indoor seating only. Has a country bar restaurant feel. Husband loves their steaks. Not cheap, but he says they're good.

This is a very casual place. Worn wooden floors, bar, old rustic fire place, rustic tables etc. Clientele, employees and customers are extremely casual and "comfortable".

I am very relaxed, comfortable and welcomed here.

They have a few specialty beers, local, IPA and micro brews. All delicious.

The spicy cheese curds are as described and delicious.

We were there twice this visit. I ordered the chicken fried steak twice. The first time it was awesome, second time just so so.

On trip the year before I order the big ribeye steak. It was amazing but expensive. I think it was worth the piece you may think otherwise.

Get there early otherwise you'll have a lengthy wait.
