Maru Sushi & Grill

Maru was an amazing experience. Service was amazing. If you visit Maru I would highly recommend that you Request Jessica P. Her knowledge of the menu and attentiveness is second to none. Presentation of our selections where amazing. I highly recommend the Oceans 21, Mario, Cosmo and Spicy Tuna roll. On the Oceans 21 you have to indulge in the cherry bomb sauce. You will thank me later. The price was fair for the quality and amount of food. Maru is more than a sushi restaurant. It's an experience to be had. I cannot recommend Maru enough!

The blueberry Lavender Lemonade was delicious and refreshing.
The Crabby Mushrooms were flavorful with a crunchy exterior.
The Ocean's 12 roll was the best I've ever tasted, with a myriad of yummy flavors and a bit of heat.

Business group for dinner; service, drinks, and food were outstanding.
Good traditional with some unique options.

I've hosted large and small groups here and have never been disappointed.

went on valentines day, very busy but service was wonderful and the wait time was not bad (we got seated immediately with a reservation as well)
the food was lovely and i would recommend multiple things on the menu like the udon noodles with steak and multiple types of sushi!! such a beautiful place and a wonderful staff

my only qualm was i asked for the steak pretty well done and it ended up a bit pink but it still tasted very good - and this is the first time i ever experienced this after many times being here so i think it may have been because they were busy. Alas, I give it 5 stars

Amazing flavors and freshness. Vegan and vegetarian friendly. Our favorites were the Super Mario roll, the Veggie Boogie roll, sweet potato tempura and the fried tofu. The teriyaki chicken was great, the sauce especially!! Great service and minimal wait. We don't usually eat fish but the sushi bar looked great and fresh. Don't miss this place. Perfect lunch spot on the way to Traverse City.

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent presentation. Very much enjoyed my two veggie rolls, and the crab rangoon dip. I even bravely tried the rolls my companions got (I'm not a seafood fan), and they were both very good. Never had kimchi before, but I would definitely enjoy it again. Great experience.

I enjoyed my meal at Maru Sushi & Grill in Midland. My vegetarian tempura sweet potato roll was delicious. The fried tofu appetizer and seaweed salad were well seasoned, tasty and well-textured. The wait staff are helpful, fast and kind. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Midland.

Incredible service and food! Server was friendly, attentive, and Sushi chef’s were so inviting with great recommendations. The whole staff went out of their way for me, from the manager providing their WiFi password personally from his phone while recommending and then getting me extra sauce to try, without asking, just because I mentioned I like a little spice. I was even given a part of a roll I didn’t order just to try because they knew I loved shrimp. I wouldn’t expect this sort of attention every time as it was a slower night and we got to talking. However, I have a feeling this is the overall atmosphere regularly! Great place to get some great sushi and their shrimp appetizers… five stars all around!

Unique sushi restaurant with a variety of options for all diners. I tried the vegetarian rolls and the gyoza chicken dumplings as well as the Crouching Tiger with spicy sauce. Everything was freshly prepared and the portions were large. Definitely recommend making a reservation on the weekends, we couldn't get a table so we sat at the bar.

I love going here. The service is great. They go above and beyond to make sure their guests are satisfied. Their food is always delicious. The crabby mushrooms are my favorite!

Quality sushi - fresh with lots of choices. Our server was pleasant, professional and attentive. We chose the salad with the carrot ginger dressing as well. Great flavor combination.

Went to midland for the first time in a long time, didn't where to go to eat. After looking at the choices, we decided to go here and I'm totally glad we did! Staff was really nice and professional! Very clean! We started with a gyoza appetizer, which was fried and it had great flavor and texture along with the sauce that came with it. Next I got the bulgogi bowl which had the beef, egg and rice with vegetables and that was also really good, the flavors mixed well together. Next was the Atlantic sushi, now I'm not one for sushi or at least raw sushi. But they had the choice to cook the salmon that was on it, let me tell that it was definitely a great choice to get this roll, tasted amazing, great texture, salmon was cooked nicely and last I got a cheesecake with blueberry jam and cookie crumble crust, tasted amazing and the blueberry was sweet and tart, great combination! The only that was happened that was unfortunate was that the lady serving us spilled yum yum sauce on me but accidents happen so I wasnt bothered, but they were kind enough to give me a discount for the mishap! Overall I was impressed by this place and I highly recommend checking this place out next time you're in Midland!

Fast paced, with good variety of sharable dishes. Main courses were delicious and a visual treat. I had the K.Pop roll, Garlic Shrimp, Salted Edamame, Green Masago caviar and was not disappointed. For my refresher I had a Blueberry and Lavender Muddled house made lemonade soda.
I enjoyed the atmosphere it's professional enough for a business brunch gathering or in the evening elevated enough to be formal casual.

Good laws have mercy. Made reservations for date night with my girl. The food was amazing, great atmosphere, and service.

The drinks were fantastic. Apple cider mimosa, hybrid Pinot, and a Japanese whisky infused with chicory coffee from my home state of Louisiana. (cafe du monde).

Order following, ex girlfriend, Miss Saigon, and blue mango. Holy hells!

Finished off with the vanilla bean, mint, blueberry, cheesecake.

If you’re in Midland stop and enjoy.

Best place in town for sushi! The sushi is always fresh and tasty, the spicy mayo is super hot which I love. The arrangement of the plating is very thoughtful and the extra touches really make the higher price justified. I also tried the Teriyaki Glazed Chicken and wow, that was also super yummy!

The service is also great, host always seats my family quickly, waiter/waitress are attentive and helpful. The first time we went, the waiter even took our food back to the kitchen to put into to-go boxes for us! That was so helpful and kind. The restaurant is very sleek and clean, a quiet atmosphere great for get togethers.

I’ve gotten takeout from here, also very easy and simple to do. I just ordered online and paid, went to the restaurant and the host had my bag up front and just handed it to me. It was so efficient and quick, great for those for a shorter lunch period.

I don’t have anything to add currently that I would like to see differently, it was a great two experiences there and a great takeout experience.

I've been going here for years. Always great food. They have been slaking a bit in their chef rolls. But otherwise, it's the best place in town for sushi. Blue mango still their best roll!

Upscale sushi restaurant in Midland! Love the crouching tiger and crunchy shrimp roll. The rolls were great but the nigiri and sashimi weren’t worth the price in my opinion

From the first minute being greeted and sat immediately to our amazing server Julie we were so happy! Keeley rolled our amazing sushi and matt killed it on the grill!!! Highly recommend!!!

Very good food! Large lunch portions. Affordable. Nice clean modern atmosphere. Would recommend.
