Family Fare Pharmacy

I absolutely love this pharmacy. There's no one else I would rather deal with. The staff here is wonderful. Steve has gone above and beyond my expectations as a pharmacist. My medicine isn't always in stock, and if an issue comes up, he or another employee call me right away to let me know, and get it handled in a quick and timely manner. I've had a pleasant experience every time I've dealt with them. The whole crew there is awesome.

This pharmacy is wonderful. Pharmacists are such kind people. They are extremely busy. So please make sure you give them enough time to fill your prescriptions.

Used to go to Walgreens and had soooo many problems with them. Transferred to Family Fare. One of my prescriptions did not transfer so Family Fare called them to transfer. Steve at Family Fare caught a drug interaction between two of the medications I was taking. He called my Doctor and discussed the problem and a new medication was ordered. Thanks to Steve. It is nice to have good old hometown service.

In reference to STEVE Pharmacy manager at family fare pharmacy in Allendale. Called about my daughter’s medication for a very complex medical diagnosis. He would not let me finish a sentence. He continuously interrupted me and talked over me. When I said please just let me finish, you won’t let me finish he basically said he felt the same way? I thought what is this guys problem?! It became clear what his issue was when he said, “I’m not talking to you anymore. I’ll talk to your husband if you give him the phone” It doesn’t get more overtly sexist than that. At that point I said I wanted the number to his supervisor. He didn’t give it to me, and instead said he would have his supervisor call me for the complaint (felt a lot like I’m going to make sure I get my story to her first).

For the record, I was a certified pharmacy technician from the time I turned 18. I worked as the lead head tech at Walgreens, worked inpatient doing emergency IVs etc and then finally at a prominent hospital in the ER covering all admits including sick kids. No offense to my husband but the only medical experience he has is that he’s gone to the dr, taken the kids to the dr., and sometimes picks up prescriptions.

Comments like that are completely unacceptable under any and all circumstances. *DO BETTER* and if you don’t be prepared to answer for it. In case you’re wondering there was no apology from pharmacy manager Steve for saying that nor do I expect one. His supervisor did apologize for him, which I appreciate, but a woman shouldn’t have to apologize for him either after what he said.

I am an assertive, intelligent, woman and mother. I will NOT EVER hand communication over to my husband and be denied a seat at the table of my own children’s healthcare in any way, shape, or form. Ever. Nor will I ever be silenced by a man who can’t handle that.
