Chris is a great attorney , he and his staff have helped me navigate a divorce , and custody issues as well as ; some other legal issues . I have used Chris for going on 20 yrs . I can see that there are some negative reviews , that being said , you can't always get the outcome you want in court . It's a fallacy to thing you would . Chris will do his best get you what is fair and equitable . As always just do your best to stay out of the court system !

one star is 1 too many for Chris. He was asked repeateitly to file various motions from ex parte for my children, timely appeals of FOC orders which he completely dropped the ball on! Also multiple violations of stipulations and never filled anything as requested. Sloppy as all hell; likely to have his expired law bar license on all documents as well as never change his forms from Muskegon County to Ottawa despsite your repeated reminders that he's working in ottawa not muskegon! Ineffective council is an understatement for Chris; there's a reason he had to have someone forge signatures to still loose his attempt at a judge seat.

Would only reccomend to an enemy that I wanted to feel completly unprepared and unrepresented throughout EVERY step of their journey together.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE Attorney and His Paralegal Jamie is Horrible absolutely the Worst Very POOR Customer Service people Skills. I’ve Witnessed His Paralegal have a Screaming Match in the office with one of their Clients Jamie is VERY NASTY To his Clients. The overall Quality is Poor the Attorney Ed will Literally DRAG OUT His Cases for Several Months and While doing So he Will Ignore your calls and only get back to you to Continue to Lie to buy more time. An ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE Dealing with this Attorney.

Well, I would strongly advise against using mr. Houghtaling! i trusted him and he abused that trust. We had an arrangement and I still don’t know to this day why he gave up literally and failed to communicate with me what was happening. We had 21 days to respond to the courts and he totally would not respond to me. I went into office, he told me he could fix all of it to my face , then to again go to no communication. Not really sure what type of man does that, I was making monthly payments. So I don’t think that was it. Maybe this is what lawyers do, I don’t really know. I feel like he set me up for failure. I’m sad cause I lost a lot now and that I trusted him!

Never filed the appropriate documents, lied about the work being done. Seem to be working for the opposite side. Attorney client privilege does not exist with this man. Did everything to hurt my case instead of the job he was paid to do, never presented all facts given while in the hearing. Charging me for work that was never done. My advice is to stay far away from this attorney.

Sit on a case for five years until the statute of limitations runs out. A case that he guarenteed it was a great case that he would have no problems winning. Also lost the most important paperwork that proved the case beyond a shadow of a doubt!! So we are just out of $13,000 that was legally owed to us.

Met with Chris once, said he'd call, I called him a couple weeks later, assured me he was working on things... Still haven't heard anything... Been 4 months. Save yourself the hassle and call Shon Cook.

He has not responded to any phone calls over 5 years to finish an estate. It's frustrating beyond any frustration I've ever had before. I'm not sure how to proceed with this firm.
