Take out review:

Update: Aug 12, 2021

After my first review, I continued ordering from Monsun every other week. Over the time I discovered many outrageously tasty dishes like the Samosa Chaat, Nawabi Chicken Korma, Shrimp tikka masala. The Korma requires a special mention, probably the best tasting Korma that I can remember. Its so creamy and sweet, and the chicken almost melts in the mouth. I don’t find much bones in the Goat Biryani anymore either. Monsun has become one of my staple food places for take outs while working from home.

Original Review:

I ordered a Goat dum Biryani and a chicken kati roll for lunch on a weekday via one of the delivery apps. The ordered was prepared and dispatched pretty fast, and arrived 20 minutes before the ETA. So that was impressive!!

I really liked the chicken kati roll. It had huge pieces of chicken and a nice blend of spices and sauce. The wrap was also soft and holding all the ingredients properly.

I wasn’t fond of the goat Biryani as much. It was very spicy for me even though I requested mild. So, their regular spice level might have been beyond my tolerance. The Biryani also had a lot of small pieces of bones, which made it annoying to eat the rice. But the quality of the goat was really good, I just wish they had removed most of the bones.

Despite the goat Biryani setback, I’ll consider ordering from them again, since that delivery app doesn’t have much Indian options near me.

It was fabulous ambience, ample spacious and amazing food. Even the reception and service is so good and homely. Normally if we say indian restaurant, every food item would be greasy. But here, it is very good.
Buffet is just $14.99. It has variety of options. Chicken tandoori, Lamb curry, Goat biryani were excellent. My kid also enjoyed a lot.
If anyone looking for great food at Indian restaurant with spacious and good ambience It is Monsun.

Wonderful ambience, very warm and welcoming staff.. not to forget a decent spread of menu with veg and non veg tasty food. the dessert.. The gulab jamoon was the best I had since India. The veg curries were just awesome. The staff was also nice and the Indian music they were playing was good too.

Today we went there to try their biryanis but sad news is they didn’t have biryanis for today. So we try veg fired rice, chicken tikka, eggplants, lamb curry ( they served more food the one I don’t know the name ☺ it’s good too). It’s really really delicious and we love it. Before we finish eating, one lady (I think the owner) came to us and asked “how it everything?”. We told her everything is great and actually we came for biryanis and we didn’t get it today. You know what she doing! She went to the kitchen and told the chef to cook biryanis one bowl for us to taste. 😮😮 So today I can eat the best biryanis I ever eat in my life time.
I can give you guy more than 5 starts. The foods are good, fresh and tastes. Services is goods well.
Thank You Monsun. We will definitely come back to you. Only one request I have is “Please serve biryanis on weekends “☺ (may be one day in the weekend) ☺☺.
I forget one thing about decoration. I love their decorations. ☺

The food tastes fresh and flavorful without being heavy. And the ambience is awesome. Had the chicken samosas, lamb chops and mojito mocktail... all dishes I would come back for!

This place has the most flavorful food I have ever had in my life! I don't remember what the lamb dish in the lower right of the picture is called, but the tikki masala was amAAAAAzing, especially over the basmati rice. The goat biriyani and yogurt were stellar. And everything on the tandoori grilled platter - first of all, came out sizzling to the table! - but has so many distinct and powerful flavors and meats. The mango lassi (not pictured) was great as well. And the hit naan with garlic... Garlic pressed all over it and smells so fresh. All of the meats were tender and falling off the bones (whichever ones had bones). There's no way I'm not coming back

It was my birthday dinner, was there with my husband and three daughters. I love Indian food. and Monsun exceeded my expectations. Great server and Everything was delicious. Also, unlike some other places, I can tell there was no MSG and not overly salty. I’m very sensitive to MSG and I’m so glad they didn’t put it in their dishes. They just used fresh ingredients, clean and healthy. Garlic naan was very fresh and garlicky which I personally liked. You may want to ask for light garlic to meet your taste. Indian spices are so good for ones brain and health, I encourage people to eat more of it. I’m so proud this restaurant is in my neighborhood. NYC high end taste in a humble suburban area.

I was sceptical about this place, since the reviews were kinda OK and also because I have had my fair share of bad experiences in Indian Restaurants in NJ. But this experience was a very pleasant surprise. The ambience was good. The rooms were sufficiently bright( I don't like dark dining rooms). The hosts were very polite and courteous. The food was nothing out of the extraordinary but very satisfactory. Be sure to try out the buffet. There are not many options in the menu but I was very satisfied with whatever was there. Or maybe I get pleased easily, I don't know. I will definitely visit again.

Our family went here to celebrate my aunt's birthday a couple weeks ago, and to get my grandma out of the house for one of the few times during covid. First of all, my family can be a little hard to wait on. Not rude, just kind of strange requests and whatnot. But our server took care of us very well the entire time.

One of our family members had a hurt leg and needed to keep it raised. The server immediately got us an extra chair, no questions asked. When we first sat down, there was no music playing which made it a little awkward. We asked her about putting on music, and she immediately put on some wonderful Bollywood music videos on their huge TV. She took the time to take everyone's order and answer any questions. It was a bit much, but she handled all of us with patience, and she was knowledgeable on the food. The food did take a while to come out, but we were a large party, so fair enough. When it did though, everything was excellent. They told us what each dish was as they brought them out, which was helpful since we were sharing it all. At first, we were thinking we might not have ordered enough because it didn't look like alot. But we actually couldn't finish it all and had to take some home with us, and a few of us are pretty big eaters. We were stuffed, and it was all delicious.

At the end of the meal, we were asked about dessert and we replied that we were going back to the house for dessert, but when she saw it was my aunt's birthday, she brought out gulab jamun with a raspberry drizzle, one for each of us. That was really nice of her and an excellent way to wrap up the meal without filling us up too much for our later dessert. Also, I could tell that she treated our grandma with patience and extra respect, which was very nice to see.

I would also like to say that the two top bad reviews, one is complaining about the prices and the fact that they have signs up for a buffet they don't have anymore. With covid, food prices have doubled on many ingredients. Everyone has raised their prices. Just look at almost every other restaurant. And as for the buffet, the restaurant would probably love to have it back if covid ever allows it again. It's a pretty lame move to write a bad review on a place during covid, especially when the things you're complaining about are because of covid. Quality of food and service wasn't even mentioned. The other bad review says they didn't even bother to go because they don't like the restaurants responses. Well they're missing out because this place was excellent, and we received great service. Fair enough if you read reviews and don't want to go, but don't leave a bad review for a place you never tried. That's just stupid.

Anyway, thanks for the great night, Monsun. It meant alot to us as we don't get all of us together that often anymore. Keep doing what you're doing!

Wonderfully prepared. Each dish unique. So many Indian restaurants may serve mutiple dishes, but they all taste and are seasoned alike. Not so here. Freshly prepared, not oily, and very gracious service. Monsun really is a hidden gem and glad finally to have tried it after years of driving by!

So after hearing and seeing a lot of negative comment I went there for my birthday it was a kind of small group party but I must say that the food was 10/10. Every time reviews are not sufficient to judge. Above all the owner showed her sweet gesture and offered free dessert to us 💕. Earlier also we been there and had a great time So looking forward to going again 😍 . Thank you, Rekha !

I’m very happy Monsun restaurant because the food is great and, just as important, they have integrity. We booked a family party over a year ago just before the COVID outbreak. We had to cancel the party and the owner allowed us to leave our deposit to be used for food at a later date. Now, so many months later, even after so many restaurants have had a rough time, she honored our agreement and provided us with some outstanding food for a Halloween party this past weekend. The sog paneer, among other dishes, was so delicious. We will certainly be long term customers and can’t wait to eat there again in person once our little one is vaccinated.

It was my first time Indian cuisine experience and I love it! Even “Mild” a bit spicy for me, but it was so good! Even my 4yo son ask for more rice with Masala. We definitely come back to try other dishes.

I am a fan of Indian food, particularly enjoying buffets for lunch or dinner. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants around New Jersey, and Monsun is absolutely my favorite. The staff is pleasant, the decor is lovely and appealing and the food is excellent. Since dining here, I cannot find another Indian restaurant that I like nearly as much. Wonderful cuisine, decor and staff

This is our second time back at Monsun this month and we absolutely love the food! This restaurant is so pretty and tranquil which makes for a relaxing atmosphere. We not only look forward to the food, but we look forward to seeing the people that work here! They greet you with such warmth and make you feel right at home.

I hosted my Daughter's 1st Bday Party at their Banquet Hall. I would rate them 10 out of 5 if possible, such was the service and quality of food. Owners were extremely well behaved and so accommodating. Though the timing was 12 to 3, guests wrapped up only around 4, but the staff patiently waited for us to finish. I would encourage everyone planning for Indian food based events to visit and check the place out themselves.

We had been going to Monsun over the past year and admittedly we would go only because distance-wise it was convenient and the food was just mediocre. We went again last week and were pleasantly surprised to find that their food has been elevated to a much higher level. We mentioned this to the owner and she told us that they have a new chef at Monsun. We would highly recommend Monsun now! Love it when a restaurant improves its quality. Well done!
