Wow what an interesting and vibrant place to eat and enjoy a festive evening with family and friends. The food was delicious with tons of variations to choose from, the build your own taco sheet was really helpful. A live guacamole booth was a great touch to see it made fresh before your eyes. All our dishes were made to our desire and tasted great. Our server was polite and very attentive to our needs as a large group of 20 people. Prices were fair even for the entrees. Since we celebrated a double birthday they brought over a huge sombrero and sang along with us. We will definitely return again soon.

Went here for the first time with a friend to eat dinner before a show at the State Theater. Super close walk to theater after dinner. Fun atmosphere! Glad I made reservations because it was packed with people going to the show later. Service was great, and the food was very good. Just had Guacamole and chips and chicken quesadillas. Enjoyed our evening!

Delicious Mexican food served in an upbeat atmosphere with good service.
We came as a big group and felt well accommodated. All food very fairly priced and came in good time too.

Very happy we stumbled across this place on our way to the comedy show. I had the chicken flautas. The chips and salsa were perfect too. The waitress was very attentive.

This has been one of my favorite spots to come back to in New Brunswick since it opened. I have yet to have a bad experience and I hope I never do! Sometimes I have trouble getting my server to come back to our table but it’s generally pretty packed whenever I go (rightfully so).

Music is a tad loud but it’s good music. I wondered if it would turn into a club after-hours like its predecessors but I don’t think it does.

The decor is my fav. I’m always so excited to show my friends when I bring them here.

My go-to has always been the tacos, and I enjoy building my own. i’ll get 3 or 4 tacos and I’m perfectly content. The ghost pepper sauce is spicy but SO GOOD. And my special addition is always the fire wontons. They’re not spicy, but they’re very cheesy and everyone has always loved them.

All in all, a very good choice for your next meal in New Brunswick!

Happy hour party of 8 before a drag show at the state theater. Fun atmosphere! Great salsa, guacamole, amd chips. Amazing frozen sangria *I'm looking at you, Jose Tejas). We had tacos from the happy hour menu, and they were very good. OMG they have Fiestaware dessert plates°°

There is outdoor seating during summer. Reservations is recommended, otherwise wait time is 20-30 min.

I would definitely recommend going here. The interior design is really nice and festive. There’s also 2 floors of sitting and the music is fun. The food tasted great and they have quite a few vegetarian options that all looked really good. We had the veggie fajita, grilled cauliflower tacos, and a 7-later burrito which all tasted amazing. Overall, it was a very nice experience.

We came in with a group of four for an evening of drinks, dinner, and laughs. Javier was fabulous and got us everything we needed in a timely manner. The atmosphere is lively, and makes you feel like you’re getting a little sliver of Spring Break in the middle of New Brunswick. The food is packed with flavor, making the choice of food so difficult (I JUST WANT IT ALL!) 🙌🏽 Would definitely recommend!

I really don't have anything bad to say about this Restaurant. Food and Drinks were excellent and they had plenty of good options. They had a live Mariachi Band performing, which was super fun. Service was also quick, especially considering how busy they were. Family friendly

The frozen Sangria & Mango Margarita were very delicious. I ordered the Blackened chicken fajitas and my husband ordered a Burrito. We were happily stuffed. The place was clean and the atmosphere was nice. The music wasn't too loud, which was perfect for chatting with our friends.

This place is great! The music is great and isn't loud enough that you've to scream to talk to your friends. Our server Johana was super sweet and friendly, and the service was quick. The food is amazing to boot. 10/10.

It’s not often I find a restaurant that seasons my food perfectly, but Fat Cactus Cantina has hit the mark! Truly stellar food. I’ve gone twice this winter and they do not disappoint. Everything we’ve tried and been served here have been amazing! Not overly salted, fresh flavors, and the table side salsa tastes like they care and not just something they’re throwing at you. Service was okay, there’s room for minor improvements. Not everyone is trying to stay long to see a game or are drunk patrons that could care less; but the servers weren’t rude. Table wait time was reasonable but was told there was a limit time to it which feeling rushed wasn’t great. But the food was really good so I’ll keep it at 5 stars.

The place is just fun to eat at; great lighting, fun decorations. All our food was great, and the create your own taco menu was AWESOME! Prices were very reasonable as well, and staff was on point. (Went here before a show at the State Theater)
