J&J Restaurant and Pizzeria

Don’t underestimate this low key pizzeria. They have by far the best pizza in town. Every bite taste just like a New York City slice. Love this place 🙌

The best restaurants are the small, out of the way, hole in the wall places that you find in any town in the world. This is one of those places.

I have been eating here as far back as I have been eating solid food. I grew up in South River and this was the pizza of choice. Their pizza is fantastic. It has a sweeter sauce and a thinner crust that makes it unique.

The absolute best pizza they make is the "ground sausage" pie. The sausage is ground up in the sauce under the cheese. The flavor is amazing.

To my knowledge the restaurant has changed hands twice since the original owner, Mr. Coffaro, opened. The quality and taste has never changed with successive owners.

I have always thought their delivery times were a bit long, usually a 45 to 60 minutes wait, so I have always picked up. Even as I moved out of South River, I still occasionally return because there is nothing like it.

One of the best pizzas around. The sauce is amazing, a bit sweet, which is what I like. The staff is very friendly. Family owned...which I think it is great to support small mom and pop shops and family owned places over big chains.

Only downfall is the place could use updating or sprucing up. The appearance could probably bother some people, but I let the food do the talking and the food is great. Anyone who rated 2 stars or less I do not trust their judgment

I had stopped in there to eat one day while I was visiting a friend of mine that had worked there. The pizza is phenomenal!! Best pizza I've had in a long time and very cozy environment... Love the little mom and pop spots, reminds me of when I was younger going to go grab a slice with friends.. Def will be back next time I'm in S. River

Someone told me about Coffaro’s Pizza last year. Since then, whenever I’m nearby and want to treat myself to a slice (or three!!), I’ll go there. (I’ve only taken out or had it delivered. Whenever I’ve gone in, there are always a few people eating there. ‘Just a few tables.) I adore their thin, crispy crust and amazingly delicious sauce (a bit on the sweeter side; my favorite!). They deliver in a very reasonable amount of time (I’m the next town over), and they’re very friendly and professional! (Now I’m in the mood for their pizza, and know what tomorrow’s dinner will be!)

Coffaro's serves up a unique pizza with a very sweet sauce. As someone who enjoyed Coffaro's in my youth, I am delighted to come back as a man and find that the pizza still tastes just as great, and the interior of the restaurant is unchanged. It is indeed a page out of American history. The bakers don't waste their energy on novelty pizzas like barbeque or buffalo chicken or cheeseburger; they make real, authentic Jersey pizza with tried and true conventional toppings, and they make it expertly. Prices are a bit steep, but the food is worth it, and the 2 slice and a drink lunch deal is a great bargain. Absolutely delicious; one of two pizza places in the greater East Brunswick area that I will order from. Now if I could only find that Coffaro beer...

They have the BEST pizza! The restaurant is small, but don't let the looks deceive you. Definitely one of my favorites. Also very friendly and nice workers. Highly recommended

Great pizza, been eating here for over 20 yrs now an has not changed a bit, love it guys keep up the legendary great tasting pizza! Ps everything else I’ve ate here is also very good.

Place may look grimy and dirty but has one of the best plumb sauce thin crust pizza pies in the business. The top one being Scortinos in Perth amboy and South Amboy. Been faithfully coming to Coffaros for 31 years( since I was 8) and counting.

Best pizza in the world! Used to live in town, still stop by every once in a while......never disappointed. It has its own special flavor, has been very consistent from the 70's!

Very good place to grab a quick slice and a soda. Our 2 topping pizza was loaded with toppings. Friendly staff made for a nice laid back visit. Prices were excellent too.

When I was growing up in New Jersey my father used to take me to coffaro's Pizza I have never in my life since and I'm 54 years old and I live in California I've been through all the states never have I had a better Pizza than coffaro's I live in Kansas now and oh my God they have no idea how to make a pizza I wish I could have two Fair send me one and let people try how wonderful and awesome this pizza is I will always remember that pizza the best you guys do it right never in the world ever since I've had that I've had anything like it please send me some but a long time

I like my pizza like any other person I suppose but this little old pizza joint is one of a kind, a heads up what makes the so special is they got a nice sauce with a hint of sweetness

I grew up on this pizza. The best. Even though I live out of town now, I still head back to SR to get a pie. My favorite...Pepperoni and ground sausage.

We ordered a pizza with mushrooms and peppers which was a good value for the price and tasted really good....

Best place to eat in town! Great pizza and the place has a lot of character:).....worth the trip to the River to get a pie!
