Always super helpful and wasn't dismissive of me when I was shooting a budget bow like I felt at all of the other local shops. Carries high quality gear and doesn't try to oversell. Tuning is always perfect and the staff is very personable.

My wife and I had a great time with Adam. He was an excellent instructor and made my first time trying archery amazing. I will definitely be back again.

A long overdue review...but I can’t recommend AJ’s and The Gun Shop in particular, enough! I moved back to NY and needed help with the licensing and purchasing process for handguns. I had a very specific model in mind, and all other stores I contacted gave me the cold shoulder. Not AJ’s. Adam in particular did a phenomenal job tracking down my dream gun and at an amazing price. He walked me through the process and I could not be more happy with my purchase.

I bought an entry level bow from this shop 2 years ago, I told them I was only interested in a bow for novice hunting applications. They set me up with a Mission Ballistic with appropriate accessories and performed a very solid tuning and their prices were fair. I am bringing my bow back to them tomorrow so that they can help make some adjustments and install a new string and cut new arrows. I will gladly do business with them in the future, they are always pleasant to work with and fair. Very professional establishment.

Update 9/17 - Adam has been awesome! His recommendations have all been appropriate, and his service has been excellent. I went in there about a month ago and requested a new string. After inspecting it Adam said I didn't need another one this year, and that it looked like I had taken great care of the one that came originally. (All I did was follow his original recommendations) Saving me money was a big plus. So I requested a basic tuning and some new arrows and he was very accommodating, he got me all set up while I waited (roughly 15 minutes). I was there again last night for some simple tweaks before the season started and Adam was able to do everything while I waited and he stayed an extra 45 minutes past closing to make sure everything I needed was taken care of, even working through an obvious injury with no complaints. Very impressive service at a very difficult time of the year to be in that business. Great job Adam!

One of the best experiences I've ever had when purchasing any type of hunting gear. Adam and John were very polite, professional and knowledgeable. I didn't feel like I was being rushed out of the store. My purchase was made on the fact they were patient and helpful. Now I have a new Mathews Halon 6 and I love it. I will being doing business with them again in the future.

Father and son shop that’s been in business for 40 years and it shows. They are both friendly and knowledgeable. Explaining odds and ins of different products and helping to guide us on how to obtain different permits that we’d need. Had a great experience! Walked away with some amazing finds! Very fulfilled with our visit and we’ll be returning soon!

Drove almost an hour and went to AJ's to have my bow redone. Upon inspecting my bow it was discovered that the other archery store who had done my bow previously, had actually not utilized halfway decent parts. I'm just getting back into bow hunting and not completely familiar with all the modern materials. AJ's staff took the time to show me what was actually wrong with my bow and what they would do to correct it. After waiting a little over 2 weeks they notified me that my bow was done. (They informed me prior that they were busy and it could take a few weeks). Upon receiving my bow AJ's had me shoot it prior to leaving. My bow shot wonderful and I'm very pleased. They showed me what they had replaced so I was aware of the work that had gone into my bow. Now this was on a Saturday that I picked it up, so they were quite busy and yes, it did take some time....HOWEVER, it was very much worth the wait. If you want something done right, it takes time and the time I spent here was worth the wait. It's a small family owned shop and not a huge sporting goods store, of course you're probably going to have to wait....especially on the weekends....right before bow season!!! Thank you to AJ's for all your assistance, friendliness and taking the time to assist me. I will definitely be a returning customer.

The best shop around that I have ever been too. Very knowledgeable, patient, and willing to take the time to help you out. I am very happy with my purchase of a new bow, and the setup fits like a glove. I highly recommend paying them a visit, and this is the only shop I will go to from now on. It's Simply the best gun/ archery Shop in CNY, hands down. I do allot business with them. Knowledgeable, friendly and well provisioned. The owner is a great guy and the staff is tremendous. Can't say enough good things about them.

Extremely helpful! The hour drive for me is worth the customer service you get here. I purchased a Mathews Halon 6 here and I will go no where else to have it serviced. Again the time they are willing to spend answering questions and goingredients over everything with you puts this shop as the best I've been too!

Considering today 3/8/2020 was my first time holding a bow ever, the staff at Aj’s archery made me feel comfortable, and never felt pressured to buy.
they informed me on the different types of bows, and the different technologies that set them apart.
i feel great about my purchase, and it seemed like they were eager to help me out.
if it’s your first time into archery, Aj’s is your place to go. picking up something new can be intimidating but the vibe in the store made it welcoming.

So i went in the other day to have my bow restrung. Its a brand new matthews z3 won it at game dinner in febuary. Had them change out cam to fit my draw length went great. Went in yesterday to have just the string replaced its was fraying bad and peep twisted. I figured i would have to drop the bow off and wait for string. I asked if i could just change the string the cable was new still. One guy said usually we can only get sets and couldnt get factory strings. It wasnt the answer i wanted to hear. But he asked adam i think that is his name is and right off the bat he said sure we can order it. So i was like great. But his genius realized he had a strig there already and could fix it now. He said i can bang it out real quick. Sure enough 30 mins later he was done. Couldnt of been happier great service alot of knowledge and very helpful. Im an avid bowhunter and haveing a great shop close by is nice. I usually do my own work on my pse but i dont have a press that works with matthews. So having them close by is great. Thanks Ajs and staff for getting me in out so quick. Gave me alot of time to shoot rest of the day.

By far my favorite store to buy anything gun/ hunting related. They aren't like most places who just want you to buy whatever is most expensive. They actually care about the customer and will help you find exactly what you're looking for. They also have a great collection of firearms from used to new, cheap to expensive. Even if they don't have it they will find whatever you need.

So I ended up winning a Mathews bow for my 16 year old son at a game dinner. There was a note (email) from Mathews saying how I could trade the bow in for one that actually fit my son as long as it was the same model. I thought that would be easy enough, all I had to do was find a dealer. Right? Not so much. Runnings is listed as a Mathews dealer and they couldn't have been less helpful or more rude. I will definitely not be back there. I called another dealer down south and they didn't seem to interested as all they could talk about was how they didn't have time for something like that because of their archery leagues. Trying to be understanding I asked them what night would be best to come in, which nights do they have leagues? Their reply..."Every night." I didn't want to disappoint my son so I loaded the truck with my son and the bow and almost headed down when my wife came out the door. She said that they had just called and wanted to make sure I knew that I should expect to spend a substantial amount of money if I wanted them to help.
So off to AJs we head. They made a phone call to Mathews and confirmed the procedure within 10 minutes of us walking through the door. Already more effort than the other two "dealers". He set the bow up for my son and added the accessories that my son had picked out and by the next week he was taking his first shots of hopefully many with it. Not only did he take care of the bow set up but when he spent over an hour with my son getting him all dialed in and helping him with his form. He has earned our customer loyalty and showed the difference between himself and the other guys. I could not recommend this shop more if you are a Mathews guy or are thinking of becoming one.

I have purchased firearms there and ammo. I can tell you they have ammo calibers no one else in CNY has and they treated me right on a firearm. Real good people to deal with.

Great spot, just a ways out. Got everything I needed easily enough, although they were extremely busy. John answered the questions I had and provided me with further information to ensure I was a satisfied and educated customer. Will be back!

I have now been a regular customer of AJ's Archery for about 3 years. My first experience was amazing. My son's 10th birthday was approaching and he had expressed interest in getting a bow, as he had really enjoyed it at Scout camp. I had placed an order with a shop out in Elbridge as they did not have the bow I was looking for in stock. For four weeks I called this shop to see if the bow had arrived. Each week I was given the answer "no, but any day now". A day before my son's birthday, I called to see if the bow came in. The answer was, "no, and it looks like I never placed that order". In a panic, I called around to other archery stores. AJ's was the only one with the bow I was looking for, had all of the accessories, and had people who were friendly and extremely helpful. We now go to AJ's for all my son's lessons and my husband and I buy all our ammo there for our shoot leagues. Even though it is not the closest store to where we live, we will drive out of our way, because the service is amazing, and they always have what we are looking for.
