The Shop Bar & BBQ Grille

The Shop Bar & BBQ Grille is an apt description of this place. That's because it's more of a bar that serves BBQ than it is a restaurant. Don't get me wrong, it's cool that an auto repair place or whatever is doing a local dining spot above their garage. It does have a slight fledgling feel though. The space is directly up a lengthy flight of stairs, but the owner said they will be opening the ground floor space soon. It's a somewhat non descriptive bar area up there, but it's open and roomy enough. We didn't know that they shut down from 3:00 to 4:00 to prep for dinner service. Anyway, we stayed for a beer until 4:00. The service went well after that, and our food arrived in a timely fashion. I had the pulled pork sandwich and while it had good BBQ flavor, it read a little bit dry. My dad, however, loved the smoked wings. He ordered them naked with sauce on the side. They were crispy on the outside with good smokiness within. He didn't even use his side sauce because of the built-in flavor. We also had curds and they had a lovely thin beer batter coating. We will definitely be back again and hope they continue to up their game. Their wing game is already strong. Fly and fry bros...

The service on our second visit was even better because we arrived after 4:00. My dad loved the naked wings again, and I really enjoyed the BBQ brisket sandwich. It's like if BBQ ribs were a sandwich, but not something stamped out by a mega fast food chain, which shall remain nameless. Their fried pickles rocked too because they had some added spice. So, nice...

Just absolutely amazing!
The food was so good, the atmosphere is awesome and for likely being short staffed like everywhere else, the workers were nice and on point.
We were greeted and we got there at a good time that we were able to get a table right away and we had our orders taken quick!
We got out drinks and food timely!
Definitely a great first experience with dining in. Only was there one other times to meet friends for drinks after work - which wad also a good experience. But the food 🤘

There's a little bit of wait for the food but you can definitely tell it's fresh and very good the atmosphere of the place is very comfortable and clean definitely a place I can go and eat and have great food and have a awesome time. Also, I can't wait to see the remodel. I saw the plans, and it looks like once the remodel is done, it's going to be very cool, place to hang out. Notice a pool table darts and bar games.

The only reason they're getting 5 Stars is because Google won't let me give them 10!! Legit bbq!! The smoked pastrami is amazing, and the pulled pork nachos were incredible!! There isn't a word in the English language that adequately describes just how happy you will be after eating here...

All I can say is wow! Though the prices are a bit higher than what I'd normally like, all the portions of everyone's food definitely made the price worth it. Bartenders and servers are friendly and funny. It can get busy here at times and the wait gets long, but rest assured the food is worth it.

Great food and a really cool spot.

This was my first time here and it’s a great place for pub food in a unique location. The dining room is upstairs overlooking the surrounding area which is kinda cool. The pulled pork nachos pictured were delicious. I am going back to try the wings and the Cuban.

Got rained out for dinner while camping so decided to go into town to get food, great decision! I had the pulled pork nachos and they were amazing!

Great meat!! They do not over season. They let the meat quality and smoking process do the talking and do not slather in sauce. Holly and Lexi were amazing bar tenders and really knew how to work the busy room. I came here with my wife and kids. They have toys for the kids to play with as you wait, but the food comes quickly. Wednesdays are Warrior Wednesday where military active duty and veterans get 50% off their meal!!! This is offered to EMS, police, and firefighters as well.

Checked this place out with my kids since we were in the area looking for a good BBQ place and glad we did. It was a pretty cool looking upstairs joint packed with people. There was only one bartender/waitress with a younger boy cleaning tables and bringing food from the looks of it. I was a little worried we'd have a repeat of our previous night experience. I took my family to a different bar/restaurant last night and had very poor service there even tho it had 3 people working and half the people eating or drinking this place had when we walked in. Wow was I pleasantly surprised tho. The girl working the bar and checking on tables was efficient, hustling just the right amount to keep drinks full and give excellent service. She didn't seem flustered as many people would be working in a place this busy. She was friendly and accomodating to our food requests as was the kitchen keeping all the toppings in seperate containers since we had 3 people sharing huge nachos and not liking the same things. The boy kept all the tables clean and brought food out. He didn't say much but was friendly.
I would like to say this bartender/waitress is in the top 10 I've ever been served from in my life. She checked on us probably 6 times in a busy bar and had the whole place under control. I can't think of a single thing to improve on and will definitely be back here next time in town.

Stopped here with a few friends. We had several of their popular items as we where starving. The smoked brisket sandwich was the best I've ever had. The Reuben sandwich was phenomenal and the wings where amazing. We had the Korean BBQ style wings and will deff come back someday.
Service was also great and above and beyond. Carlie is all about customer service and excels at her job.

We happened upon this little gem by sheer accident. We were hungry and Google gave us restaurants nearby.

We ordered the smokehouse nachos as an appetizer. To say they are great is an understatement. These were possibly the best nachos I’ve ever eaten in my entire life (and I’m not young!). I ordered a Cubano and my (ex)husband ordered the pastrami Reuben. Both can only be described as perfection on a bun. The smoked flavor of the meat was not so powerful that it was overwhelming but not so faint that it was underwhelming. It was PERFECT. I’m a huge fan of smoked meats so I can honestly say that whoever does the smoking knows exactly what they are doing. The meat was tender and juicy and flavorful. Possibly the best restaurant meal I’ve eaten in years. It was so good that we took home food for our kids… And they loved it also. The waitress who took care of us could not have been sweeter. She was fun and energetic - and she was a fantastic waitress. An additional staff member came over to our table to check on us and he was just as kind, energetic, and fun as she was.

Without question we will be back. If you’re in Appleton, this little restaurant is right off Wisconsin Avenue. Easy on/easy off from I-41. You’ll thank me for going because it’s just that good. We left wowed and amazed by everything.

I'd give more starts if I could!! Food was fantastic! We ordered online, very user friendly, and food was ready exactly when promised. I had the Cubano (best one I've had yet), my husband had the pulled pork sandwich, and we had a small order of the pulled pork nachos. Everything was perfect. Definitely going back!!

We stopped 8n here during a hockey tournament weekend. Jessie was our bartender. Great place and friendly people. We actually went back a second time in the same day. Had the cowboy bites, pulled pork sandwich and the pulled pork mac n cheese. Food was excellent. Everything made fresh. The seating is limited, and since it's made fresh when they are out thy are out.

Had the Mac and cheese bowl with brisket and it was amazing! Didn't even know this place existed until I went there with a co-worker. Loved it, great lunch! Great food at a reasonable price.

My husband started getting lunch from here a couple months ago after hearing about it from a friend and has been raving about it- gave it a try for family dinner tonight so the rest of us could try. It was absolutely amazing! I mean really really good food- easy online ordering and nice people: we will definitely be back!

Ordered the Thai Chili boneless wings and they were the best wings I've ever had! Perfectly crisped on the outside. Super tender inside. And the sauce had the perfect amount of heat!

The chef personally came out to discuss my husband's order as he has Celiac (he got the Pulled Pork Nachos) and returned near the end of our meal to check on us!

Honestly the best bone in wings money can buy. I am a tough food critic with an expensive taste… They don’t get better than this I can guarantee that. Highly recommend the Gochujan sauce, it’s a mild sweet and spicy sauce with almost a Korean taste. I won’t be wasting money anywhere else on wings unless I’m smoking myself. Bye bye Buffalo Wild Wings and the bar ✌🏼

I have lived in the area five years now and have seen the name change a few times at this location. I visited The Shop Bar & Grill for lunch and left impressed with my experience. The corned beef on my sandwich was cooked incredibly perfect and exceeded my expectations. The new owners apparently prepare their own meets and the food provided a great experience. Service was also excellent, along with a pleasant environment, so I am looking forward to a return visit. The downstairs was receiving a remodel so it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.

It was our first visit here and we enjoyed it. All 4 of us had the brisket so can not speak outside of that that but it was great, the beer selection was decent (an option for everyone on tap, just not multiple options), and if you like White Claw, they have all the flavors! The sevice was good, no issues from start to finish. We are looking forward to the downstairs opening and seeing it operate at full capacity. Will definitely return.

We stopped at The Shop today after a long day outside. They were closing early for a well deserved 4th of July celebration. We got in about 45 minutes before closing time and they were super generous about getting us fed before they closed. The food was amazing and the service was on point! GREAT JOB! 👍🏻
