Excellent staff and the location is solid. Kind people with the perfect distance from the busy pace of life.
If wifi is important to you it’s unreliable. Expect no cell signal.
Activities could use some updating but overall the grounds are well kept and the pines are trimmed and plenty of clearance.
We keep coming back here it’s a solid stop and the drive out there is excellent.
Big RVs fit too so take your 40’+ out that way.

The staff was very friendly and efficient from the reservation to our departure. The resort is very clean and quiet. They had a fire roasted pizza night on Friday a huge pizza made to order for $17. On Saturday they had live music in the main hall and church on Sunday. Park in the middle for kids to play on, tether ball, horseshoes and corn hole. The sites are good size and pretty level. Well layed out would stay here again!

Been coming here for years as a kid, finally pulled my own trailer and spent 4 days here. Not long enough, I think I could spend a month no problem. Clean and accommodating. Owner Dave was great, took time to get know us and his staff was eager to help in anyway. Great home base to see SW Colorado.

My husband and I just started RVing full time and this was our first stay, we were here 5 nights. We had a great time here and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. The campground is completely nestled in tall pine trees providing shade nearly all day long. The staff and other campers were incredibly friendly! On Friday night they had brick oven pizzas for $17 which were really good. I enjoyed using the library to borrow books and puzzles. The only down side is poor cell reception. We both work from our RV and had some trouble connecting. But overall, this place was very clean and provided us with a wonderful stay!

We had a small cabin, #9, and it was great for 2 people. Charming and peaceful getaway location.

We didn't stay here, but needed to refill water. They were very kind to let us do that for free. I also needed ice, so I purchased it here. Seems like a really nice, family-friendly place to stay!

Very nice RV park, staff and people staying here are very pleasant and nice. Grounds and facilities are kept clean. Lots of permanent and semi-permanent residents. The setting is amazing, tall trees everywhere and the occasional deer grazing around the outskirts of the park! They did a great job nestling all the RV pads among the trees. Vallecito Reservoir is about a 20 minute uphill walk to the dam. There is no cell service whatsoever at the park so you have to rely on free WiFi, however the WiFi connection is not that great unless you sit outside the main office or at the pavilion. To get cell service you have to go up to the Reservoir. My only complaint was the trash dumpsters were almost overflowing and very stinky.

We stayed here for the month of July, 2011 - our first RVing trip since we retired and bought our setup. I do agree that some of the park is "older" looking but we had the most wonderful time. The people are SO friendly and helpful, especially to us newbies!

We had so much fun at the potluck dinners, poker games and just hanging around with new friends.

I recommend this park to anyone who is wanting to have lots of entertainment choices but be in the beautiful pine forest.

JERRY is on top of the resort and workampers here. He wants everyone happy and all to run smoothly:)
Employees like Carol (on phone) and Lynn (check in) are quite friendly and helpful.
Lots of shade!
We have RV'd full time now for 4 years and this resort has one of THE BEST - if not the best - LAUNDRY ROOMS we have ever used!! Priced-right machines, dryers are fast, and very clean room.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
We hope they remain Passport America, etc. for discounts in the future.
Close to Durango and next to beautiful Vallecito Reservoir in the mountains.
Our only drawback was the spotty wifi service at our site so we worked in town one day and a friendly neighbor let us use hers for 2 nights.

Vallecita is an alpine resort offering a mix of RV spots, cottages, and converted RV cabins, and while the layout rambles, it’s surprisingly easy to navigate and big rig friendly. Many of the RV spots are occupied by seasonal residents, and along with the cabin folks, many of these campers return year after year. Nearly everyone we met was extremely friendly, the camp hosts were super helpful, and the owner is great to work with and did everything to make our stay ideal.

The spacing between sites is pretty average for a commercial park, but the camping feels more natural due to the presence of lots and lots of trees, well cared for grounds, and a sort-of neighborhood feel to the whole place. Our site was long and level, and our utilities were easy to reach and worked perfectly during our stay. While some of the activities were limited due to Covid, the park usually hosts a number of social events and offers many common areas, including an outdoor pavilion, grills, playground, dog run, and laundry. There is plenty of room to walk a dog or move around outside, and while the park was often full during our stay, it was never loud and/or crazy.
This park provides the best WiFi we’ve ever used in an RV park, but it’s only available near to the office/store, which offers nice outdoor seating, and the large outdoor pavilion. The office store stocks all sorts of helpful items (ice, wood, soda, ice cream, etc) and they fill propane. Cell service/internet is a bit tricky, and while some areas of the park get some, others get zero. Our site had zero service without our booster, but we had really good service (streaming was fine) with the booster.

This CG location is beautiful and close to more of what makes Colorado so popular, 2 reservoirs (Vallecita and Lemon), tons of hiking, and all sorts of picturesque scenery. It’s a 25 minute drive into Durango, and visits to Silverton and Mesa Verde are also reasonable. We appreciated their reasonable seasonal and monthly rates (which they will prorate beyond 30 days), and that we were able to receive packages during our stay. We enjoyed our time at Vallecita and would definitely stay again.

We really had an excellent stay here. We wanted to visit the area and thought this would be a great homebase. The owner was awesome. He took us on a short tour to give us different options. He also shared with us his vast knowledge of the area only a local could!! We are definitely going back.

Beautiful Campground! Everyone was friendly. The Friday night pizza cookout is a MUST! They offer so many family friendly activities that you can stay busy and never leave the grounds. Durango is only 15 minutes and the lake is 30 seconds away!

Quiet, near boat launch and fishing, hiking. Beautiful camping among the pines, and great for unplugging from the internet since cell signal is almost non-existent, but if walk up to the dam there's a decent signal. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Peaceful, quiet campground, very efficiently run. Bathrooms and showers were very clean, staff helpful, business-like, and friendly. Wood fired pizza available on Fridays... A plus!

We arrived after hours found our site right away next day owners were very helpful we needed a 15 amp fuse he sent someone over with in minutes and had the right one also he brought our fire pit and wood to our site. The rv park is literally minutes away the grounds are nice and clean people were friendly I would definitely recommend and stay there again. Yes there is free Internet but it does not work well

This is an amazing RV resort! Many people stay through the entire season (May through the end of September) and have become quite a community of friends! Nestled among pines trees and just off a quiet street, this place is ideal to spend the summer. Just minutes away from the Vallecito Lake where you can boat, fish and swim. This is a true wonderland of natural beauty and summer adventure. The community plans many weekly events including outdoor Sunday Church service, musicians "jam night", poker night and much more. Just a quick drive into Durango is all that is needed to stock up on groceries and enjoy river rafting adventures! Yet, the Resort has you covered for propane, firewood, bait and marshmallows!
We were only able to stay a week, but we are looking forward to a much longer stay soon!

I like this place. It has a home type feel to it. Making reservations for a campsite was easy for but be warned there are only about six campsites. The majority of the space is reserved for RVs.

A big plus for me was they sold fishing licenses at the country store that is onsite. The price for an overnight's stay at the campsite was reasonable.

Nice wooded RV park. Friendly staff and local full time residents. Power was good, water good, cable TV so so... we stayed here in a 38ft 5th wheel.
