Select Specialty Hospital - Milwaukee - West Allis

My wife has been at Select for just over a month after suffering complications from open heart surgery. The staff are all very kind and friendly. The nurses are patient, the CNAs work incredibly hard, the therapists are all tough but kind, and the administrators have all been great. My wife has improved dramatically since she arrived and will soon be discharged to the next level of rehabilitation. This facility has been wonderful for her recovery. The staff have cheered her on when she reached milestones, they've supported her when she was feeling hopeless, and they've provided excellent care every step of the way. Everyone I've interacted with, from the CEO, who occasionally roams the halls, to the housekeepers are friendly and invested in the outcomes of their patients. As with any facility, there have been frustrations, but overall, I would highly recommend Select.

Therapy has been working with me a lot which I definitely need to get home..The Nursing staff has been very good..call light response could be better at times, but I do understand that at times it can't be..Both Dana's RNs have been great, Tom RN, Christina RN, Gage RN, Paul RN, D'onnie CNA, and Elisia CNA have all been great..thank you, Eric Mitchell

My mom spent several weeks here. Overall it was a good experience. She progressed quickly thanks to the great PT, OT and Speech therapists. The nursing staff was knowledgeable. The CNA staff took care of her many needs. The doctors were diligent to check on her regularly. They did good to make sure my mom was helped in every way and ready to move to the next facility for her care. I recommend going through the paperwork to verify the accuracy at the time of discharge. There was old information from entering the facility that was still on the paperwork at discharge and we didn't catch it until arriving at the new facility so we had some sorting to do. That was a minor issue though, I realize there is a ton of paperwork that gets written and it wasn't a huge problem, just caused some confusion at the next facility. I still highly recommend Select Specialty Hospital West Allis to anyone needing this level of care. As a visitor I always felt safe and welcomed there. The staff was very kind to me and happy to answer my many questions. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. I was also able to bring in my own food and microwave it in the vending area.

So far this is the best facility my mom has been at. The entire staff deserves kudos for providing top notch care. A nurse named Katie soon became a family favorite. Also, case manager Becky made the transition of care smooth and hassle free.

Great nurses, great care! I spent about a month here, April-May. Everyone was very accommodating. If you require this type of care, choose Specialty Select in West Allis WI. Special nurses: Michelle, Marena and Sarah,,special aide: Diane. All staff friendly and willing to help.Great PT and OT . My mobility has improved since being here.

All staff care for the patient. The doctors and nurses are great! Medical care is excellent.

PT OT support is outstanding ... dedicated, quickly able to access patient needs and capabilities, caring and compassionate. Fun to visit with as they work ... Shirley has been especially helpful ... often returning to give my wife additional PT on days when she had a little down time between scheduled sessions.

My experience at select specialty hospital has been outstanding. The nursing and other clinical staff is excellent - they react in a timely fashion and are happy to explain medications, procedures, etc.Kelly from the Wound Center, and Lisa and Linda from PT/OT are to be especially commended for their skills and caring.

I can’t speak highly enough about this hospital and the caring personnel who work as a team to provide the best patient care.

The nurses and the CNA's have been exceptionally kind and helpful to me. Often asking me if I need help or if I need to be cleaned up. The physical and occupational therapist have also been very caring. The doctors and other specialists have come daily to address my health problems and treatment options. I am very happy overall.

A very nice place to experience. Quality care in everyway. Every department within Select Hospital works together to insure that you receive the proper care. The entire Medical team Doctors, Nurses, Nurse assistnce take time to care for you. The therapy department works to help you recover. The OT Therese, and PT Sherley will help prepare you for your next stage of recovery. So many Sweet, kind, gental people. This environment is healing, and I would recommend Select West Allis as a long term care place to recover.

It's a blessing that I was in this hospital. The staff is very good and patient. The nursing staff in wonderful. They are teaching me new things and this hospital has opened my eyes to different things. Respiratory and speech therapy taught me how to talk with the speaking valve and taught me how to have patience. Physical and occupational therapy taught me how to stand and walk again.

Great physical and occupational and speech therapists! Respiratory therapists were good. Doctors visited me everyday! Decent food. Very attentive nurses. The following staff were excellent: (nurses-Tanya, Michelle, Katie, Tom) (Therapy - Ann, Betty and Aric).

I feel the service was very good. The nursing staff was excellent. The food was excellent. The speech therapy was good. I had good results with my swallow study. The physical and occupational therapists were excellent and explained everything to me. If I needed anything, they got it for me. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.

Each and every nurse and doctor at select specialty was better then the next. They literally saved my moms life when 2 other hospitals could not.. they helped us emotionally and spiritually and medically. They are the reason my mom is alive today,. I cannot give enough stars to this place. Thank you Select specialty team for everything.

My experience at Select was nothing short of excellent. The Therapists, Ann, Betty , Linda and Aric, were outstanding; demonstrating patience and creativity to address my unique needs. The nursing staff was compassionate and treated me with dignity. In particular Jen, Ivo and Christina helped me through some challenging days. The Respiratory Therapists, particularly Chuck and Joe were instrumental in getting me off the trach and breathing on my own. They answered all my questions in ways I could understand. Finally, there are a number of CNA's whose kind and compassionate care defined my experience. Reese, Maggie, Bailey, Jess and Jenna provided outstanding care and regularly checked on me whether they were assigned to me or not. I highly recommend Select Specialty Hospital West Allis.

From my initial call to Select Specialty Hospital West Allis right through to our discharge, we've had a great experience. From the nursing staff, rehab therapists, physicians, etc. everyone was warm, welcoming and helpful. Remote staff from the Madison facility were awesome in the initial acceptance process. We would recommend this facility.

Our experience at Select was absolutely amazing. The staff was beyond professional and a God send. We believe God used each nurse and therapist to bless my Mom and aid in her recovery. We cannot say enough good things about our experience at Select!

Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy (Betty, Ann and Aric) were fabulous and easy to work with! CNA Laura was amazing. Respiratory Therapy was great! My Doctors were very good, easy to work with and came in every day to check on you!

My father received compassionate care from the nurses, respiratory therapists, and doctors. After spending one month in ICU, he was transferred to Select Specialty Hospital in West Allis as they have a good respiratory therapy program. Sadly, my father's body succumbed to the causes of a brain aneurysm after one month at SSH. However, we were happy with the care he received. The team helped him transition swiftly and peacefully, and we could not have asked for better. Still brings tears to my eyes remembering how the nurses teared up and offered hugs during this time. The human touch was evident in the staff, and for that I am grateful. P.S. they even let us bring our dog for visits.
