Spending a night overlooking the badlands WILL be windy but the sunrise will be worth. It is absolutely amazing to wake up to this view. Get there early and if camping in a tent, bring plenty of stakes.

Be Careful! Disaster awaits. I followed the GPS and found a farm road leading to what was shown as the overlook. I followed the road until it was too late. My van got hopelessly stuck in a muddy pasture 1\2 mile from the road. Tow truck was 45 minutes from Wall. I was lucky to get him. Got wenched out just before dark. It took 3 hours and cost me $800.00. No AAA available. I sent in a request for payment but I am nervous about the reimbursement. Still waiting. I still have no idea where the turn off to the Steer Pasture Overlook is. It is NOT the Boondocking area. The Boondocking area is further down the road.

The marked site is an incorrect location, an inaccessible ravine adjacent to private property. It is a duplicate of nearby "Badlands Boondocking Area" and "Badlands Boondock Campspot" which are accurately located. This location has been reported to Google for removal.
