This place is great. I always walked by it without really thinking, but today I stopped by in a rush to get a few things I needed for an emergency fix. There was a great amount of incredible staff who were on standby to help or answer any questions, provide directions to what you need, etc. Not to mention that when I called to ask if they carried something, someone picked up within the first ring!

This place is so much bigger on the inside! Beautiful flowers! GREAT prices- it's hard to find a lot of "convenience" type stores in this area that are not absolutely price jacked because of necessity. My repair cost me $13 instead of $200+. Just incredible!

I walked in. Greeted by 2 friendly employees, at the front desk, ready to assist. I said two words. One employee walked me straight to said two words. Showed me the product. I asked the price. It was a good price. I got two. Highly recommended. Great location.

My daughter recently moved to the neighborhood. I came to visit and take care of my "Dad List" and needed some supplies. Stopped in the store, asked some questions, got some great direction, purchased our supplies and went home. Everything worked as expected and they got us all set. Great experience!

Dale, and all the staff of Downer Hardware, have helped me countless times with my home improvement projects/gardening/etc. as I’m a new homeowner, and new to DIY projects. They always take the time to help me troubleshoot and problem solve. I destroyed multiple drill bits attempting to install curtain rods in my plaster walls — Dale instructed me on the use of masonry bits and my project became much easier. They even carry the dog food we use, Taste of the Wild, which isn’t sold in many locations. I will always shop at Downer Hardware over any big box store because of their excellent customer service and care that they offer.

I have a thing for local hardware hardware stores. I used to bike up to the one near my parents house when I was a kid, and pester the old guys with questions on how to build/things. I love that they remain largely unchanged throughout my lifetime, unlike almost everything else. I love that you can actually find knowledgeable people willing to answer questions. Sometimes I'll go so far as to poke my head in when I dont need anything.

In this case, a piece of my music equipment had broken and I needed a very specific fastener. Something that is standard but not common, Home Depot wouldnt have it, but a good hardware store would. They took the time to go through all their fastener drawers with me, and when they couldnt find the part, pulled one off of an item on their shelves and gave it to me. Now that's a above and beyond level of service.

Only caveat-- there is only metered street parking.

Surprising amount of items for not being a big box store. Employees are great and keep the feeling of being such a great street. Love being able to come to them with a question or getting the random tool I need.

For small store its packs a punch. Personnel are very knowledgeable and friendly They can show you how to do many repairs yourself to save money long term. Highly recommended store.

The staff are so good, words fail. Give up your big box hardware store, come here, get what you need in less time than you'd take walking across an acre of parking lot, and talk with some great human beings who know everything.

Downer Hardware is the kind of old fashioned hardware store that has everything you need. The staff has been friendly and helpful and it's way less painful than facing a big box chain.

Old fashioned real hardware store

Every time I walk in here I'm always out in 5-10 minutes with everything I was looking for. Being a small store they don't have every single item you could need, but for your everyday hardware needs this is a great place to go.
