They withdrew money from my checking account after I cancelled my policy. They are willing to refund it (which is why I am giving 2 stars instead of 1) but the only way they can refund it is via check which will take 1-2 weeks. Meanwhile, I have double paid on auto insurance and have other bills to pay. They will not pay for any overdraft fees that they caused for incorrectly taking money out of my account. Do not recommend.

We've HAD excellent customer service until we had to file a claim.
Our first agent, Janet Young was prompt in her response to our questions, very polite, and exceptionally thorough, for that, we are truly grateful.
Then our claim was handed over to insurance adjuster, Matthew Livingston, where he then treated us like we were the ones at fault, and not as the loyal customers we've been for years.
He was totally unprofessional in the manner he spoke to us, condescending, the inability to return numerous phone calls, and gave us half the information when he mailed out forms.
He should have highlighted areas that were pertinent for us to complete. Instead, in our frustration and anxiety from the accident, we had to guess, making the whole process a nightmare.
He showed zero compassion which we feel was the least he could have done given the trauma we endured.
He made us feel like the liable party and that we did something wrong.
In closing, please reconsider this adjuster if your claim is assigned to him.

Very poor service.
Took 5 months of me calling them to get a bill for a change made to my policy.
A year later denied my claim for hail storm damage to my home’s siding.
My renewal came up and they changed all my coverages on my bundled policy. Then charged me $2000 more in premium, so I did NOT renew and went elsewhere.
Had them for 3 years and would not recommend to anyone.

HORRIBLE INSURANCE! First I call to cancel on December 12th. Then I call again on the 13th to ask why it is still active and I get the run around after I already submitted the cancelation paper. Today on December 14th I still have an active policy that I was told that WILL be canceled by the end of the day today and still no confirmation. I go online and shows as active. DO NOT TRUST THIS INSURANCE COMPANY THEY WILL LIE TO YOU EVERY STEP!

Wouldnt even give them 1 star but i had to. Run while you can!! I've dealt with alot of insurance companies and this one by far is the worst I've EVER encountered!! They increase your amount whenever they want for no reason at all and have horrible customer service. They don't notify you of the increase and when you dispute it they have no explanations. They increased our car insurance policy by $300 a month halfway thru the year!!! No new drivers(just me and my husband) and no tickets. The only thing that happened was my husband was hit by someone, but their insurance company covered the damage and the police found my husband not at fault. We got a new insurance company and they tried to charge us with a cancelation fee even though our year was up and we refused to sign a new contract. Then they continued to take money out of our account even though we canceled with them. If you absolutely have to go with them... you've been warned. And when you find something cheaper call your bank and block the transactions so they can't continue to take it out! Filed with the BBB.

They raised my rates multiple times in one month for absolutely no reason. No history of accidents or anything. All of a sudden they were charging me $560 PER MONTH!!! Then when I cancelled my policy they still drafted money out of my account and won’t be sending back the full amount. Worst experience with an insurance company. If there was anything below one star I’d give them that.

They force you to join auto pay by constantly canceling your policy. You will not receive any notice that your bill is due.

Ridiculously high rates. Didn't inform me my policy would automatically renew so when I already found different insurance, they charged me $550. Upon calling, I was informed I would have to wait 10 days for my refund to come in the mail. It's day 11, naturally I called today, the person today informed me that it didn't mail out until day 8 and will be here when it's gets here, essentially. If I could give zero stars I would. Will never recommend to anyone, ever. I hung up on the guy today because I was too angry by the blatant disregard and lack of care behind a company to the people that make the company just that, a company. They can take the money in seconds but returning it, that's a different story all together.

Refuse to pay claims where their insured was at fault. Closed the claim without even obtaining or reviewing police crash report. Adjuster stated on their recorded line they never got the crash report, but 10 min later when I called her supervisor, she told her supervisor she had the police crash report all along. Adjuster fraudulently documented claim to make it look like they shouldn't cover the claim.

Opened a claim on August 29th for water damage. The kitchen was the most damaged with all the uppers being soaked and the lowers being damaged/wet from the water, flooring needed replacement, toilet needed replacement, among some other things. National General Insurance didn't go out to our property until September 7th, due to scheduling conflicts with our renters (they never let us know they were having issues with this). Once they completed the walkthrough, the adjuster (supposedly) called me to confirm it was completed. We didn't hear from him again until October 7th and he said he was STILL working on our estimate. We had to fight with him and our contractor to settle on an approved amount. We were not aware that the lower cabinets were not being replaced and just figured this would be taken care of as they were damp to the touch when we viewed the property ourselves and had significant staining on the inside. Turns out they were not being covered. The adjuster claims he took moisture readings of the lowers but has yet to provide them to us. Even the 3rd party they hired to come out to the home could not confirm or deny water damage was there at some point. Because of the length in the claim, we couldn't catch this early on. Otherwise, we would have wanted to see the readings immediately. On top of all this, our adjuster refused to call us back. He'd opt to email us and then I'd have to wait days for him to get back to me. The kitchen was unlivable and to me, this is negligence on the insurance company's part. 1. For the extensive time they took for approval and 2. For telling us they did something like moisture readings when they actually did not. The cabinets installed were not of "like-kind" and overall, I'm so unhappy with the service they provided. We will 100% be finding a different company to work with moving forward. This insurance company is NOT worth the headache.

I would put negative stars if it would allow that. Impossible to get a hold of the insurance adjuster. The amount they paid me for the claim for water damage in my home is laughable. A contractor wouldn't do the work because the said they was no way to even come close to do the repairs. My kitchen and basement have been torn apart for two months with no end in sight.

I don't usually write reviews, but I would avoid this insurance company at all cost. They charged us $123 for 5 days, while I still had Geico insurance as my insurance company. I wouldn't give them 1 star, but they don't give you any other option or it would be 0 stars. Stay away from this company.
