Farmers Insurance - Bernard Van Engel

We moved out of Wisconsin and wanted to give Bernie a thumbs up! We have received great customer service from him! Anytime we had questions and had to leave a message, Bernie was very responsive. If you're new to the area or looking for an insurance agent, we highly recommend him!

He was very helpful, professional; we(husband and I) went to his office on Port Washington Road. My husband is happy with the Home Insurance Policy that was offered we signed the forms at his office. We all had our mask on, had out side air circulating throughout the room and social distancing.We are still awaiting the paperwork from the headquarters of the insurance company to send us the Home Insurance Policy that we signed with the whole out look regarding the Home Insurance Policy in the mail. However since we didn't get the policy in the mail yet we are rateing three stars until we get all the information in the mail.

Horrible experience. After unknowingly not having insurance for 4 months I called to ask why my credit hard hadn’t been billed for the next 6 month installment. I received no response after multiple voicemails were left so I visited his office. No one was there during their posted hours. I tried again 2 days later. Still no one was home. I left more voicemails on his cell phone and office, sent emails, and I was completely ghosted. 2 weeks later after signing with another insurance company Bernard called me to say that I didn’t sign the reoccurring credit card payment agreement after the first 2 months so my coverage was cancelled. But, I paid in full for the initial 6 months! Bernard told me that because of the lapse, which he never even called me about, I was uninsurable and they would have to send me to another company for twice the price before taking me back. I’ve never lapsed on car insurance in 20 years. When I told him this is unacceptable his response was “it’s a cold world.” Avoid this guy and Farmers insurance. It could have cost me a lot more than my car and Bernard and Farmer’s insurance could not have cared less.
