The City Market Café & Bakehouse

After riding the Oak Leaf Trail, I stopped at this cozy little place for a much-needed break.

Lovely decor, friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere help set this place apart!

The cranberry nut scone was tasty and paired well with the decaf blend. I appreciated that you get a self-serve mug when you order 'for here' drinks, and there was a great selection of non-dairy creamers (almond milk) and natural sweeteners like honey. I'll be back!

I have been coming here for nearly 20 years and love it. Soups are always good but I LOVE the Market Masterpiece sandwich.
I have never had a bad experience here or their Tosa location.

It's hard to find a true European style cafe. Fresh bread, cakes, coffee, and other light eats. Good food and coffee, with counter service. The atmosphere itself isn't bad, but also a little lackluster.

We had a lovely brunch here. The restaurant is filled with the aroma of their housemade soups, breads, and baked goods. The Dante Fe salad was an absolute delight, not at all your typical southwest salad. Fresh herbs and housemate dressing with just the right combination of fresh vegetables and bite-sized, tender chicken (optional). This is the perfect place to have a cozy breakfast or lunch, to work with a hot drink, or to pick up bakery to take home.

Nice place to take a breakfast, brunch, or lunch with friends and family. Their food is delicious and they have a good service. They are known by the good collections of sweets and cakes. Indoor and outdoor tables available. Street parking available in the area.

City Market is pure bliss! They have homemade granola and soups. The bakery is to die for. They have healthy choices! The patio is great for the summer!

Step in for a cool, inviting atmosphere with plenty of seating. I enjoyed the cinnamon roll I bought in the evening of a week day. It's right across from a church so I'd imagine it's a nice stop afterwards with kids.

Some mothers and their toddlers stopped by for some snacks.

I love coming here to hang out with friends and meet new people. Excellent food, coffee and tea, and atmosphere

Delicious! Ordered the Morning Wrap and a Latte. Ate outside on the patio. Very filling and flavorful vegetarian breakfast wrap without feeling greasy or heavy. Good atmosphere. Felt like a true gathering place for the community. Can’t wait to come back for lunch or bakery.

I LOVE eating here. The food is amazing. I especially love the minestrone soup.

Delicious food and drinks at reasonable prices. Great service with dine-in and takeout options. The creamy french onion soup is amazing, wish they still had it every day rather than resigning it to just Thursdays!

On a Saturday its normally busy but the service here is always really good. They have an awesome menu from soup to sandwiches. It's really clean and tables are always getting swiped off or next guest. I love the Sante Fe Salad and the Cranberry Turkey sandwich. I'm allergic to onions and I've never had a problem with them forgetting. 5 stars for consistency!

I love City Market! It's a great place to eat. The menu has a very nice selection of good quality food and pastry. There's a lot of good to this place, but if I were to list them all, I would run out of space. This place for me is a feel good place. The pastry is awesome. They have some of the best burgers in Milwaukee. The manager, Adam, is very professional, and you can tell that he cares about his job. I respect him and enjoy the atmosphere at City Market. I highly recommend City Market to anyone, hands down!

The food was delicious! I could tell the difference between the frappé from them and a place like McDonald's. The breakfast was unlike anything I've had. The potatoes were a blend of russet, sweet, purple and blue. I'd recommend it. Very diet friendly and filling.
I'd move to the East side just to revisit.

Fantastic food and outstanding service. I've been here several times over the years and have enjoyed their coffee, tea, food and bakery items. I've never had any issues.

Additionally, the manager, the owner and the staff went above and beyond to help make my recent proposal to my girlfriend extra special.

Would highly recommend checking out City Market if you've never been.
