Sun Outdoors Ocean City Gateway

This was our very first time staying at a Sun Outdoors resort and we were incredibly impressed. We stayed at the premium cottage and it is one of the few places we've stayed during our travels where the place actually matches the pictures. Very new and pristine, and everything kept in good working order and immaculate condition. Perfect for small families and when we asked for a late checkout, they were very happy to accommodate and work with us. Staff was extremely friendly as well - loved it here and can't wait to stay at their other resort locations!

Really can not speak on their cabins or RV sites. However for lot locations for tents are very nice and affordable. If you need electricity it is available at each site location. Picnic and fire rings are located in good location to set tent accordingly on each lot. Bath houses are kept very clean and have hot water. Enjoyed my stay will definitely return.

An excellent campground! Was centrally located for all we were doing for our vacation. The RV sites were neat and clean. Comfort stations were immaculate. Staff very friendly and helpful. They offer many activities for those just wanting to hang on the grounds. A great price! Definitely stay at again, and will check other Sun Outdoor campgrounds!

By far the best campground I’ve been to before. I stayed in a cabin without a bathroom and kitchen. Very spacious compared to others I’ve been to. Close to ocean city- about 20mins. They also provide complimentary water park tickets located at frontier town which is nearby as well.

**very clean— very clean bathrooms (bath house has air conditioners). Paved roads for kids to bike. Golf carts are always available. Has a pool, arcade, mini golf included. Prices are affordable (compared to yogibear).

Lake doesn’t seem clean enough for fishing. But still 5 stars.

Very clean and well maintained campground. The sites are spacious, paved and level. There are bathhouses spread throughout and they are clean and updated. The pool and game room were fun too. The staff is friendly. The location is great for driving into Ocean City and Assateague National Seashore. An added bonus was free passes to the Frontier Town Waterpark about 10-15 minutes away at another Sun Outdoora campground. My only disappointment was that the campground store had limited hours during the week, closing at 4:00. That meant we couldn’t get supplies or play mini golf. Not a deal breaker but something to be aware of.

Loved this awesome campground. THE friendly staff were all simply great.
Clean comfort stations and showers were appreciated as we were tent campers.
Tent sites are spacious and well located.

LOVE IT.

Great area of course to have a TopShelf Campground with water views and two docks. Not to mention that it is totally PET friendly Doggie Bag Stations all over the park so they is no reason Not To Pickup after your pet🐶. The sites are large and very level and if you don’t have hydraulics jacks you know what I mean. The hook-ups are all new and placed right where you need then, then even have extra hookups so if you you come here with your friends you can face each others awning and still have access to your hookups. So call the office and make a reservation you won’t go wrong coming here.

Pretty sure this is our new favorite campground, at least for Spring/Fall camping. The premium back-in sites by the store, playground, and pool were great. Bathrooms & showers were incredibly clean and large. A word of caution though, don't expect to pull up to the check-in window/booth like Sun Outdoors Frontier Town -- you'll be greeted with a sign directing you to go inside to check-in, leaving your tow vehicle and rig blocking the left lane... Sharon gets visibly annoyed with such audacity.

Had a wonderful stay this past week, beautiful maintained grounds, very clean and tidy all over, no over bearing staff, the sites are very spacious, fire pits are large and built nicley and the camp store is really supplied nicely.

They have crafts or some type of activity pretty much every hour Fri- Sun. The kids absolutely LOVED them.

We did comment multiple times about how there was like NO bugs. No bitten ankles, no being covered in nasty bug stray...literally nothing.

If I had to complain about anything it would be that the "arcade" is small (like 5 games and extremely expensive) We ended up doing the board walk arcades in OC because the cost was dramatically less.
The store/mini golf closes far to early during the week.
Not being able to get to the store to grab anything in the evening or an ice cream after dinner was unfortunate..I did mention that multiple times to my husband that it was strange it closed so early.

Really a very laid back campground. We will 100% be back!

Had a great experience here over Labor Day weekend. The girl who checked us in Britany was very sweet and patient even though she was swamped with rowdy guests. Bare naked cabins don’t have much but that’s exactly what we wanted! A real expierence. There’s activities for the kids and the adults and we had a great time. The woman who made us a burger was very kind too. Definitely recommend!

I would like to thank the staff, at Fort Whaley. We had an awesome experience, this weekend. This is the best time that we have ever had camping, anywhere. I would also like to thank all the great people who were also camping this weekend. Just watching the kids and the adults having a great time, melted my heart. And on top of that we had family come down and they enjoyed themselves, as well. I can't thank everyone enough.

This campground was great and the spot we had was fantastic. We had plenty of space, a nice big yard, picnic table and a fire ring. The campground was very clean, well kept and had plenty of amenities. All the staff were very pleasant to interact with and made our stay that much better. They had a pool at this campground which was very clean and all the furniture was nice and in perfect working condition. They also had a mini golf course which we didn't use but was neat that they had one.

We will definitely be staying here again as this was a great campground!

Big improvement kudos to the new management, clean well maintained Campground. Will definitely return. One negative is that from May to September they require a 3 day minimum stay. People like myself that work for a living and like to camp every or every other weekend requires taking a vacation day just to stay at your Campground. We have to schedule after the tourist season which is limited to about 3 total months before memorial day and after labor day. Locals like to camp too

Nice place to camp. In an area with trees this time to help shade the trailer. Same pool as last time which is kind of small but there wasn't many people here for middle of summer and the pool area is very clean. Very quiet and relaxing.

We love staying here. We try to go and camp in a tent at least once a year. There is electric and water available at some of the tent sites, cable hook ups, as well as cabins to rent. The water park at Frontier Town is included, and they even have a shuttle to bring you there, or to Ocean City. They host events, we enjoyed the foam party, and the pool is usually quiet but big enough for a few people. They have an awesome mini golf course which is included! Very well maintained, we mini golf a lot in SC and we were very impressed.

We have been going to Fort Whaley campsite for 4 years now. It is different from when we first started going there as it is now more commercialized. However it is a really nice campground with lots of things for the small kids to do. Is far enough away from Ocean City yet close enough. The price has risen in the last few years but is still what I feel to be affordable for a campground.

Beautiful, Clean Campground!! Beautiful Amenities and plenty to do for the kids. About 20 mins from Ocean City, and grateful for the normal pricing of what a campground should charge. Others in the area have skyrocketed their prices. We will definitely be back to this one! Nice sites that dont make you feel youre in a parking lot, actually some space! Concrete patio and plastic picnic table with brick fire pit at each site. Some amenities, Beautiful pool, spacious dog park, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, pavillion, catch and release fishing pond etc.

I’ve never been to a camping site so I’m not sure if I have the right metrics to compare this place with nonetheless this is a really good accommodation and located very conveniently in ocean city. The cabin we had was new and spacious and smells so good the check in was easy and the checkout even easier. The amenities are quite a lot (even though we didn’t get to use them much). Definitely recommend and would definitely go back for more.

Great camping experience. Very nice upgrades. Large camper sites. Lots of options from primitive tent sites up to Deluxe Cabins and everything in between. They are still adding things, so there is still more to come. We stayed for 5 days. Some of the activity staff need to work on their people skills, but overall is was very nice.
