Southpaw Barbershop

First time going to Southpaw. New beard and previously bad experiences. Zach however made me feel comfortable right away. He asked me questions to find out how I wanted my beard to look. He explained what he was doing before he did it, making sure that what it was exactly what I wanted. My beard is what I imagined it should look like now. He even gave me pointers for maintenance in between appointments.
10/10 recommend. I am not a bot, I am not getting paid for this review. I would've paid more than he charged and still been just as satisfied with the results, honestly.

I’ve had my haircut by Zach a few times - all with great results. The most recent cut, I decided to change up my look. I showed Zach a couple photos of what I was going for and he nailed it. He cuts with precision, easy to chat with and makes sure you’re satisfied throughout the process.

Great experience! Never been to a barber before. Was always the guy who just buzzed his own hair. Little nervous at first but felt totally comfortable after the first few minutes.

First time at a barber shop and Zach made the experience great, like catching up with an old friend.My hair/beard turned out awesome and wedding photo ready. Zach took the time to ask questions about the stlye I wanted and why he was cutting it certain ways to work with my hair line.

I had a lot of trepidations when I moved back about picking a new barber, but Zach was amazing. The vibe was great, and he really took the time to listen to my cut request and made sure to fulfill it, while checking in with me throughout the whole process. Highly recommend to everyone!

This place is AMAZING! Nice chill Tiki-style Barber Shop with an outstanding stylist. Zach gave me the perfect haircut and beard trim. I was looking all cleaned up for my job interview. 10/10!!!!

Very relaxing experience. Zach is an incredibly experienced and genuinely nice barber. He explains everything on beard maintenance and gives great recommendations on things to do at home in between appointments.

I’d like to start by saying when I first saw “southpaw barbershop” on a sweatshirt I thought it was just that an awesome logo on a sweatshirt. When I found out it’s a real place and only an hour from my home (Chicago) I was elated. Seemingly a barbershop just for me. Then there’s Zach he coordinated amazing tiki getaway (makes you keep looking for the bar) and is an expert with a the clippers, scissors, and straight razor. He took off like 4 inches of hair faded me up, trimmed my beard and straight razored my neck And all done for far less than I expected. I’ve never been excited about getting my hair cut but this is amazing!

Zack is not only a great barber, he’s a marvelous conversationalist and host. I felt welcome immediately on my first visit and found the whole experience to be easy-going and even fun. Southpaw is a true gem I'd recommend to anyone; the Tiki atmosphere turns a visit to the barber shop into an exotic experience. Zack's passion for Tiki culture is contagious, and before you know it you'll be learning about surf rock and how to make a good Mai Tai. Looking forward to my next visit!

This will be my new go too for my beard. The absolute best place if you really care about your beard and what it looks like. I'm extremely picky who I let touch my beard and I don't normally leave reviews but Southpaw Barbershop is by far the absolute best.

A terrific haircut and wonderful conversation in a relaxing environment. Zach has an artistry on refining your haircut and refining it again as he goes along that results in a superior cut. He is fun yet professional and the Tiki decor makes for a unique experience. I'm excited to be returning soon!

Guys, there's a new Sheriff in town! Goes by the name of Zach.

This dude is extremely personable BUT his barbering is impeccable. That's a difficult combination to pull off but Zach hits the mark both times.I had my beard sort of shaped and a buzz cut and for the first time since I've had this beard (a whole 5 months) I'm ecstatic upon leaving the chair.Go see Zach! He books online (points for being modern). He's located IN the Serendipity Salon so don't think you're in the wrong place.

Great experience! Zach was professional, welcoming, and gave me the best haircut. I also had a straight razor shave for the first time. Will definitely come back. If I could give more stars I would.

Zach is amazing at what he does! I've been going to him for close to a year now and every visit has been nothing but amazing. He even drove out to my wedding and took care of all of my groomsmen and myself right at the venue! 10/10 customer service and amazing work everytime

If you’re looking for a barber that’s gonna take care of you, then search no further. Zach was awesome. He was very easygoing and we had good conversation. Didn’t even make me feel weird when I joked about Sweeney Todd lol. Took good care of my beard, and asked me if I was comfortable with the trims he was suggesting, rather than just going ahead with them. Had a nice selection of oils to choose from. He even leaked some secrets of the trade to help me maintain my mane at home too!

The good vibes from Zach and the tiki environment, alongside chill surf rock tunes, a sick vintage barber chair, and a technical trim, Southpaw will definitely have you in for a super serendipitous experience with a clean cut.

Will return for sure! :)

More than just a haircut! Zach is a craftsman who takes a lot of pride in his work. He's a wonderful conversationalist who made me feel at ease immediately. He gave me the best haircut I've had in a very long time. Also, the first straight razor shave I've had in years -- I forgot how relaxing those can be and I honestly feel like a new man. Highly recommended!

Zach is amazing!! I took my 14 year old son for his first Barbershop experience and we were both super happy with the experience. Zach takes his time and does it right! Talking my son through everything he was doing so no surprises. Zach takes time to create a comfortable, relaxing and fun environment. And on top of it, our appointment was the day before his first day of school as a freshman. My son has never been so happy with a haircut and the straight razor used on the back of his neck made him feel so grown-up. It was the exact experience I was look for for him! Thanks Zach!!
