I wouldn't trust them to file taxes.

I was referred to them last year and told they charge about $150 to file taxes. I didn't verify the price before having them file since the person that referred was supposedly a family friend. The cost ended up being $250. That was a little irritating, but the main issue is that they did not file my taxes correctly.

When they told me my taxes were ready and the amount I owed I told them that it was incorrect. I emailed them and asked that they check it again. I sent them an email outlining my taxes and the calculation to determine how much I owe. Even with all of my tax documents and an email outlining my taxes and the amount I calculated that I owed they still said that my taxes were correct.

I spent most of the day calling and emailing them to try to get them to find out where they messed up on my tax forms as the amount they said I owed was thousands higher than I expected. The calls got a little heated toward the end as we were each getting argumentative about the subject.

I was extremely angry at how difficult it was for them to file my taxes. My taxes were for a single individual that included very minor stock trading. I am very capable of filing my own taxes, but I expected the cost of $150 which would be about the same for me to file myself using online tax software. I expected this to be simpler than doing it myself. I ended up spending a lot more time on this than I would have had I filed myself.

I nearly lost it when I was explaining the very simple calculation to determine how much I owed for state and federal taxes. His rebuttal was that the software he uses is the best available and it doesn't make mistakes. I don't feel he is competent enough to file taxes. Based on the conversations I had all this place does is input your information into the same online software I have access to online.

In the end the error ended up being that they did not input any of the state taxes I had paid in. They filed that I had not paid any state taxes and I had actually prepaid all of my state taxes and owed the state nothing.

This company is not competent enough to do anything other than enter your information into tax filing software, and I wouldn't even trust them to do that. I suggest going elsewhere. Luckily, I am knowledgeable enough about my taxes to know they were wrong. If I didn't know as much as I do about my taxes then they would have cost me thousands.
