Great museum! As of 2023, they participate the Museum on Us Bank of America program, so card holder can visit this museum on first weekend of every month for free. The employees were very friendly, we just had to present the cards and they let us in quickly (after doing their side of ticket logging). There is a little exhibition about Pepsi history in the break room, and they have Andy Warhol special exhibition on part of the 1st and 2nd floor. We learned some history about Greenville. We enjoyed the visit. Plan for 1-2 hours of visiting time for this museum would be plentiful.

If you haven't been here and you live in Greenville then you have missed out on many a great exhibit. Besides some of our state history there are great art exhibits here they borrow for periods of time.
We just saw the Dr. Seuss exhibits the famous quilters like Vera Hall.
I have visited here when they had the costumes that Catherine Hepburn wore.
There is always something interesting here.
Love the gift shop.

It’s an interesting history museum. It’s like a small history class. They have an orchestral section which I really liked.
Another section that I liked is textile hall.
There is another section is about headwear. It was really amazing.

A hidden gem full of Greenville history, and it's not an expensive outing. They also change out a couple of exhibits on a regular basis (one for children) that are always interesting. The staff is friendly and works hard to maintain the facility and ensure a fun visit.

Okay but how have I been sleeping on this place? It's cheap to get in (11$ for adults and 8$ for kids I'm pretty sure) and the exhibits are amazing. They all work and the quality and care put into each one, shut up. They have like, voice exhibits where there is a model and they talk when you hit a button. Omg, it was awesome. Their kids traveling exhibit and the current fabric exhibit are so neat, go hang out there today!

A really nice museum with great exhibits on the various aspects of the history of upstate South Carolina. There were displays describing the founding of the area, the impacts of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, industry, electricity, military, music and culture. There were a couple of limited time exhibits during our visit as well, one on military dogs and one on Warner Brothers cartoons. Overall it was a great way to spend a rainy Sunday.

I always enjoy coming to this museum. The price is very reasonable. They are always changing and sometimes they are interactive. This time there was something for the kids and for the adults. Vietnam War photos upstairs and fairy tales downstairs with dress up clothes and each story had something to do for the kids.

My daughter & I had a very enjoyable time here. Our visit was for her college project . We especially found the Katherine Hepburn clothing display very fascinating, as I am a old movies buff.

An excellent regional history museum. It is clean and well organized. Well presented exhibits and acknowledgement of the native people to the area and the complicated relationship with the European settlers. Frank look at the African American experience and slavery.

The Piedmont Blues area of the permanent exhibit is a hidden gem of information. It is such a well done highlight of the area’s music history and local greats. It’d be nice to see some of the albums of those artists for sale in the gift shop, like Mac Arnold. Highly recommend all his albums. I’m presently savoring each track of Backbone and Gristle. A track on which Arnold explains his gas can guitar history and plays the song on one. Amazing.

A temporary exhibit on climate change was eye opening. There were hands on aspects to it and ways to see how we impact the environment. Another element of the exhibit was an informative student documentary about the native peoples of Alaska, and the climate impact on their communities.

One other exhibit highlighted Alice in Wonderland. There were set design models, wardrobe pieces, and a look at some original illustrations from the original work by Carroll. One could compare these to those of the recently passed artist Daniel Santore, who’s work I personally love. There are some other artists’ interpretations of the fable. Well curated.

An item of note, the cobblestones that make up the walk outside were the historic ones moved form downtown Greenville

$10 dollars for an adult, $9 for a senior.

We stopped in on our way through Greenville and we're beyond impressed. From the layout, to how detailed the information on everything was: it's worth the money. You'll spend anywhere from one hour to two here, and if you love history you'll walk away thoroughly impressed!

From B.C. dated Native Americans to the wars, and Pepsi, this museum is packed with every you want to know about Greenville and the surrounding area.

At the time of our stop, they also had two other exhibitions open. Thomas the Tank engine and Alice in Wonderland. Hope to stop back in a few months when I'm passing through again to see what's new.

A little history. Two old machines from 1915, in which textiles were made. Excellent place.

This was an unique museum that had 2 special exhibits when I was there - one was an Ansel Adam's photo exhibit of a Japanese interment camp and the other was a Ken Burn's quilt exhibit. Both were great.
