Excellent service for a popular place that is always teeming with people!
We had the pan-fried walleye with baked potatoes, coleslaw, and clam chowder. So very good!! Reasonable prices, friendly fast service, and great food with a supperclub, pub vibe.

We love coming here! Always good vibes and excellent service. The meals are always tasty! The back patio and yard area are awesome to enjoy during the warmer months.

Found this gem by googling Friday fish fry in Wausau because we were passing through there. Amazing fish tacos … not your typical tiny fish buried inside a tortilla. These are huge chunks of delicious beer battered haddock cooked to perfection with tasty slaw. My husband had the perch and loved it as well. It’s a light batter that enhances the fish but doesn’t take away from it. Service was great and atmosphere too! We were 2 hours from home and said we’d make the trip just to eat there again!

Dont know why any rating would be below a 5. We are from out of town and their fish fry was a recommended. It did not disappoint. Husband had walleye and my poor man's lobster was the best I have ever had. Staff was extremely friendly. Highly recommend and will return when in the area!

They have a great small town tavern atmosphere on a decent menu. The staff was friendly and attentive. We make a couple trips annually when we are out on Lake Wausau in cruise up the river. They have a nice outdoor deck for summer dining.

My grandma introduced me to this hidden jem! Came to visit last year & came & ever since when I come up we go for their Friday fish fry. Yummy

You can arrive via water or roads, sit inside or outside. Live music usually on the weekends. They make a great cocktail and will even put it in your Yeti/RTIC if you bring it, no carry-ins allowed though (but that's just rude anyway). Food is freshly made and tasty! If you're a fried mushroom or onion ring fan, you need to try them here!!!!

Went for Friday fish fry. Very busy so we went early and got right in. Food delivered quickly. Beautiful atmosphere next to the river. Interior of restaurant is homey and cozy, very clean and maintained and has a Northwoods feel. Staff is all very friendly and helpful.

Just doesn't disappoint! That's why Friday night fish fry is so darn packed! You may have to wait, but the fish fry is definitely worth it! And the owner has personally checked in with us and asked how our meal was each time we came, which was twice now, and sure to be more in the future! Great place on Friday night!

The food and atmosphere is great (for my taste anyhow). It's a little bit on the pricey side for drinks. I don't mind paying more for good food. A daily drink special or food item would be a great idea. If the drink prices were a little lower I would have stayed longer and had another drink. I'd rather stay and have 2 drinks that total $8 than one for $5. Weird but true.

A great land and water casual gathering place. Friday fish fries rank with the best in the area. Yummy in house made chicken strips and cheese curds every day, other tasty food on the menu too! Lovely dining room to accommodate large groups. We love the owners and staff who truly care about their customers. Trails End Lodge is a happy place to spend time!

We went last night for fish fry. They were very busy; however, service was very efficient. There were two bartenders working, both of which were friendly and polite. We were greeted and drinks ordered within a minute of stepping up. We waited about an hour for a table (we got there at 6 pm on a Friday night, so to be expected). We were given menus when we sat down and ordered with our waitress within 5 minutes. The menus didn't list potato options with the fish, which we thought was kind of odd, but our waitress had no problem giving us the options. We both had the beer battered haddock, one with German potatoe salad and one with baked potato. The batter was very light and the fish was perfectly cooked. We also ordered chesse curds, which MIGHT be the best ones we've had in the area. They were obviously handbreaded and lightly fried. She checked back on us a couple min after giving us our food, brought new drinks within a min or two of asking, as well as our check and boxes when requested. An individual who I believe was the owner, was also very involved with the service (hosting, checking on tables, etc) which was very nice. It was a great experience and we would definitely go back.

What a find in the middle of nowhere! Jami took great care of me and it's obvious that she provides excellent service to all customers. The fried fish and cheese curds do definitely make Wisconsin proud! Try it today!
