Laurel Baptist Church

Great church with outstanding praise and worship. Dallas the pastor speaks truth each and every Sunday, they just started small groups

I grew up here at Laurel. 15 years ago it was a thriving and vibrant church. My hope is that it will once again be that some day. The building is situated perfectly to minister to a number is different demographics.

I grew up in this church. It started or blessed many churches in the Greenville area with its resources--no strings attached. However, it never took over Greenville area churches and renamed them using its coffers in order to "spread Jesus' name." It is profoundly sad to see the historical name stripped off this church by First Baptist Simpsonville after it had served the church well for almost 150 years just so it could become a megachurch's satellite rock concert campus. I pray FBS will preserve Laurel's rich history, celebrate it, and include it in the church's name rather than "Haywood." Did Jesus care about the "branding" of His churches? My guess would be no. Jesus cared about people. Oh, and let's hide the Baptist name and who we are too in order to bring in more people and more money. Notice that First Baptist Simpsonville has not changed its name fully to Upstate Church. Why? To maintain their church's historical identity or to show ownership of the other churches? Likely both. However, FBS has nowhere near the history of this proud church. Shameful.

We do not have to be "one church." Jesus commanded us to have "one mission"--Him!
