Sunset Memorial Gardens

We meet the new grounds keeper today. We are very confident that the cemetery will get the attention that it needs and it will return to the previous state it was in many years ago. People need to be patient and remember a man can only address so many issues at a time. Our family is happy to know that someone is there that actually cares.

The staff at Sunset have been great in taking care of my Father's and Mother's burial. Professional care. I am thankful for their care.

The new owners have restored the beauty and cleanliness of this cemetery. Thank You

Improvement on keeping their grounds clean and groomed...

My dad has been gone since May 22, 2022 and I had to get VERY verbal with the women in the office for them to put his tombstone on his grave a YEAR after he had been buried. It is now a YEAR past that and they still have yet to finish his grave by putting the vase that goes on the top of it on it so we can put flowers on his grave. The manager is really unprofessional and they need to replace her immediately.

I don’t even want to give this place 1 star but I had to to make a review. We paid a lot of money for life time perpetual care. It’s not being mowed or weed eater. Records are not kept. Buried my brother in my gravelots I owned for 38 years without permission. Owner Cecil Lawrence lies an tells you he will meet you an fix paper work and never shows up or returns calls. The office people don’t return calls or get paperwork straight. This was a immaculate kept cemetery is why my family chose it many years ago an now I wished we hadn’t. Be prepared to keep your own graves up. An security cameras are not wired up an never have been

Both of my parents, my grandmother, and eldest sister are buried in this Cemetary. My youngest brother was also buried there on November 7th 2020. We paid for the plot and the headstone, etc., in advance. My younger sister and I went to visit the family graves and lay flowers there last summer but we couldn’t find my brother’s grave. We walked all over the Cemetary for almost an hour. We finally decided to call Dotson Funeral Home who took care of all of my family buried at Sunset including my brother. They were shocked that my brother’s headstone was not there and came to meet us there.

Naomi Little who is one of the managers at Sunset also couldn’t find the grave. After Alma Dotson arrived, she pointed out my brother’s unmarked grave. Needless to say, my sister and I who had driven up from Atlanta, were distraught. Alma got a makeshift marker and we gathered some stones and stuck flowers in the earth as a makeshift headstone. Sunset explained that there was a turnover in management and they were trying to get the records straight. My sister and I sat down and went over all the details of the design with Naomi Little and the guy who said he was in charge of the management of the Cemetary. They both assured us the headstone would be given high priority. I have called and text several times since then only to be told the order is backed up and there is a shortage of stone for headstones and it should be ready the following month. They no longer answer the phone at the Sunset office and the answering machine is full. It is now March 7, 2022. My brother was buried on November 7, 2020 and his grave still doesn’t have a headstone. I cannot express how deeply disappointed I am by the lack of service. We want closure. They have taken our money and have not delivered the services promised. I don’t know what is going on over there as I live on Atlanta and cannot go there to see if the place is closed or what. Alma Dotson and her husband, Marquis have worked with my family for over 30 years and delivered excellent service. I am grateful that they are staying on top of this to get this dreadful situation resolved. We were thinking of buying other plots so that those of us who remain can be buried alongside our family members who have gone on to Glory but given the current situation, we are very hesitant. Be forewarned.

Never ever buy here it’s been a year still ,I still do not have my mothers date of death marker ! I call once a month been up there several times ! Still no answer they don’t even call me back ,they had to be paid upfront an outrageous price almost $500. For a 2 inch plank! It’s been a year still nothing I paid but nothing no help nothing !I called yesterday the promised to check and will call me back BUT. NO STARS... Cannot Keep Appointment. When there any transaction takes 2 hours that should take no more than 20 minutes. Office building is a health hazard. Both office manager and boyfriend do not wear masks or clean the office. Side entrance steps are broken. Railing on from ramp to main entrance is about to fall (please do not lean on it). No gutters, so when it rains, you will get wet. There is no easy way to locate anyone on site due to lack of technology. Nothing is automated. Everything there should be automated to improve everyone's experience going forward. I would get rid of the current staff and turn over the operations to a funeral home until all the issues can be resolved.

I just called Sunset to check on my Dads plaque. He has been gone four months. She said call back in two hours and she hung up on me. Plan on doing your own mowing and weeding.

Can't find anything nor any1 here. Place is terribly outta date... create a map or something so u can spot a grave or get close online
